  1. Wow Michelle, the slideshow is great! You looked so, so beautiful. I love the ceremony set-up, and the chivari chairs at the reception with the long table...gorgeous. Congratulations! Definitely worth the wait!
  2. My hugest stresses were getting people to RSVP and book (again, we had a number of people saying "we'll be there" but I never really believed it until they booked). Even so, a number of people booked on their own and were doing different travel dates so it was tough for me to organize the one group activity I wanted to do (sunset cruise) because I didn't know who was there on what day. It ended up working out but we paid for like 10 extra people on the sunset cruise than we needed to (no-shows). Oh well. The RSVP situation also made it really hard to budget since we had no idea what our final number would come in at, and everything is pretty much based on a per-person cost. I just picked my best guest and used that and hoped it wouldn't be more. My last stress was my irrational fear of people not having a good time. I just really wanted to make sure that everyone would feel that the trip was worth it and that they didn't spend all that money to go to Cabo for nothing! It was a dumb fear though. Our guests are all amazing and super fun and that made the week one of the best weeks for everyone who went I think. People are still talking about it now and everyone wants to go back to Dreams again next year!
  3. Yikes Jess - sorry you aren't happy with Dreams. We thought it was amazing and all of our guests loved it as well. Hopefully your day will turn out great regardless.
  4. Everything looks awesome! I hope you have an incredible wedding day tomorrow!
  5. Our first dance was to Just Breathe by Pearl Jam. It was perfect for us in every way!
  6. Wow, thanks everyone! And thanks Morgan for starting this thread Fer has put together a slideshow but it's really long. I want to make a shorter version once I get the DVD of all the images from him. Then I'll post on here. And I'll be sure to include lots of pics in my review! Tammy that's so nice that Fer emailed you! He's honestly the best. I highly HIGHLY recommend him to anyone! I'm soooo glad I worked with him instead of youknowwho!
  7. We did everything you would do in a normal wedding ceremony, except we did not sign any legal documents. So we said vows, we exchanged rings, we kissed at the end, etc. My brother performed the ceremony for us and he told everyone he was ordained on the internet. Some of our guests, and our family, knew that we were legally married before hand, but it didn't bother anyone. The symbolic ceremony is the real wedding in our eyes.
  8. Your stuff is great! I love the colours. I also love the cake topper Have a great time!
  9. I like #2 and #3! They are both super cute. I'm leaning more towards #3.
  10. Re hair dryers - they do have them. They are the small white ones mounted on the wall that you typically see at hotels. I can't comment on the quality since I didn't use it...sorry!
  11. Oh I missed this - congrats to both of you! 2 very deserving ladies
  12. My guests raved about the whole week and how much fun it was. But most specifically, the comments I heard the most were: 1) the lighting and ambiance of the wedding, i.e. lounge furniture. They loved the vibe. 2) the sunset cruise we took everyone on 2 days after the wedding. Everyone had a blast on the sunset cruise and I think really appreciated it.
  13. Thanks everybody! Quote: Originally Posted by kate&devon Everything looks awesome! I think we may have the same dress. Is yours a Lazaro? Nope, it's Mikaella. 14. Wow, everything looks amazing! I LOVE your paper products! Great job. I can't wait to read the review and see pics! Congrats!
  15. Just want to add that I thought the food was delicious - I'm no foodie, but none of my guests were complaining about it. We ate at the sushi restaurant twice, and the Italian restaurant was one of the best meals I've ever had! Our wedding menu was all appetizers, and our guests said it was really good (although I didn't eat any of it so I can't really comment). As for the party atmosphere - it all depends on what type of people are staying there the week that you are, which is impossible to predict. You may have people that like to be rowdy around the pool, but then you can move to the Oceana pool or even the beach where you won't hear them. And at night, there is no outdoor partying past 10:30pm, and they are STRICT on this, so it will be quiet around the resort by that time. Hope that helps.
  16. I didn't know about the vendor meal amount! Dammit. I paid the full $29 for mine. Ah well. Most of our groups will be in their early 30s, quite a few with kids, so we just want to be sure the environment is right, too. Anyway, enjoy yourself, and I'm looking forward to hearing your full report! Bon voyage! j. J I will try to answer this for you...Erika can add when she gets back also. The age range at Dreams was mostly people around our age I'd say (30's). I did see children there, and there are 2 pools - one is louder, and one is more quiet. There is also an Explorer's Club for kids with activities all day long. The nighttime hours aren't too noisy usually - everything has to be shut off outdoors by 10:30 so after that the resort is really quiet. The daytime is medium noise level I would say, unless you are at the quiet pool. It's much quieter than it was at the Riu Palace in my opinion. Hope that helps!
  17. We did our legal day at home in Toronto, and then had a symbolic wedding in Cabo. We are using our Cabo date as our anniversary date. But officially the day we were legally married is our legal Toronto day. You are "permitted" to be married again because the second wedding is only symbolic and there is no paperwork signed or anything then. It's just a ceremony.
  18. Sad I missed this while I was gone! But your stuff looks amazing. You are probably eating breakfast in bed right now, about to start getting ready to become a bride... I'm so happy for you! I can't wait to see everything!
  19. We just had our sunset cruise 2 weeks ago, and it was amazing. We used Sunrider, and they ended up sending us on the Adventurer boat (or maybe it's just Adventure). It was private and totally perfect! The food was excellent, the service was GREAT, and the atmosphere was really fun. It was $35 pp plus tips. I definitley recommend you bring sea-sick drugs with you though in case anyone feels sick. We had about 5 people that didn't feel well until they took those and then they were all good.
  20. Thanks everyone! You are all so sweet! The wedding was amazing and we had an absolute blast. I promise I'll get my review done within the next week or so - it's so overwhelming trying to put everything into words! Thanks again! xo
  21. Yay yay yay yay yay! Happy Wedding Day Erika! I'll be thinking about you and wishing I was still at Dreams so I could be there to see you! Can't wait to hear all about it
  22. HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATHY! Hope your day was filled with lots of burgers, poutine, and donairs
