We decided not to send out STDs, but have already ordered our invites and hope to get them all sent out by mid-August or so! We have finally found a photog and hired and booked her to come with us! She's just amazing! I found my dress in the early spring, and I hope to have the first fitting in October! It's coming from Australia (I don't remember the designer's name) - it's just gorgeous! We are now just looking into our honeymoon. FH is planning a huge stag in October (hoping for about 300 people), and I'd like to have a little stagette in the fall. We are also looking into an AHR in February...don't know just yet - any ideas from anyone - where are you having yours? Anyway, this is my first time on this site and I read all the posts from the January brides section! I'm so glad I found you!!! Welcome, welcome! It sounds like you are right on track with the rest of us!!! It's so nice to have this thread to periodically check in and see how everyone is doing. What is a sgag and stagette? We are looking at February for our AHR as well. (Hopefully our Colorado weather will behave LOL) Still up in the air as to where to have it, but will definetely post when we decide. Something simple where we can share our pictures/video/mexico stories with everyone at home.
  2. Sorry I'm not much help but, I would say try and find a vendor down there and don't ship. Can you imagine if the big day rolled around and the flowers were lost somewhere in space? I don't know if this is an option but, have you considered using any silk or real-touch flowers? I have seen pictures where you CANNOT tell the difference, and they won't wilt! If you don't want to go that route, I'm sure you will be able to find a good vendor in Cabo!
  3. Do a search..This might help too http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...=make+monogram She will help you out!
  4. P.S you should join our January Brides thread http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t21722
  5. I found a WC in Colorado who has been to almost every resort in Mexico. We met with her, looked at hundreds of pictures and talked about the pros and cons of each hotel. We decided the Barcelo Maya Palace was the perfect choice for us! She said nothing but WONDERFUL things. I would figure out what is most important to you guys (the rooms, the beach, the price ect.) and then pick a few resorts that seem to fit your needs, then break them down until you find the best fit!! It will be beautiful no matter where you are!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck!

  7. I think most of the girls here including myself, are having the ceremony at the destination and an AHR in their home town. (Not at a church or anything, just more of a celebration of the wedding) Of course the choice is yours and if you really wanted 2 seperate ceremonies, then by all means do it! A lady I work with got married in Africa and in Colorado (due to traditional beliefs) They also have a shit load of money lol.
  8. Thanks for the sites!!! I'm such a visual person, I have to see it first.

Welcome to the forum! You will love it here! Happy Planning!
  10. Well, weather could be a gamble for all of us despite the month. I am getting married in January, and having a beach wedding/reception. We are definetely going to have a back-up plan in-case it rains. *I'm just going to think positive and cross my fingers, but I'm not too worried about it)* I know it can be more rainy in July than other months. Did you consider getting legally married on your 7 year anniversary, and then going to Mexico a few months later? Or are you wanting to do the entire thing while you're there? If you really have your heart set on July then I say go for it!
  11. Your pictures are beautiful! It looks like you guys had a BLAST! Your dress is very pretty too
  12. Welcome to the forum! You will find TONS of useful information! Happy Planning!
  13. Do you have a picture of the dress? Can you send us the link? (Just to see pics hehe) It absolutely doesn't matter where your dress is from. Hell, it wouldn't matter if you found it at a thrift store. (One of my friends found a gorgeous dress there Just buy what you love, and if it's not what you thought then you can exchange it, or even use it for your TTD if you want
  14. OMG you look beautiful!!! I love your dress!!!!!!!! You two look soooo happy!!!
  15. We tried to set a "budget" but it's hard to create one when you've both never planned a wedding before (especially a DW) I saved a TON of money by: making my own BF sandals, making my bms bf sandals, making my veil, & by making my BMs bouquets and GM's boutineers. I had a blast making all my stuff and am very happy with how everything turned out. I saved atleast $400.00 alone. Other things like photography, we are paying extra for because it's very important to us. We added a TTD (which wasn't originally in our "budget") but thought it was ABSOLUTELY necessary to spend the extra $ on. I say cut a few corners where you can, and spend that money on something you don't wanna cut corners on
  16. Sorry I am a dork. You are looking for the vases not the candles Have you tried Pier One, Micheals, Hobby Lobby?
  17. OOps sorry wrong link try this Hibiscus Floating Candles
  18. Have you considered Barefoot Sandals? I made mine, and my BM's and they are absolutely GORGEOUS! You can make them for about $10.00-15.00 or buy them online for $30-75.00 I have the step by step instructions in the DIY forum, or pm me if you are interested! I also bought white glittery flip flops for the reception just in case
  19. I had the exact same problem except they skipped the "I hope I'm invited part", and went strait for the "Oh great, I need a vacation anyway, let me know when it is so I can go." Check out my thread it may help too.http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...invited+guests Basically, I knipped it in the butt early and explained in a nice way that we were having a small wedding, and would celebrate with everyone when we returned. It's hard though when you are face to face with someone and they bring it up. I did the exact same thing you did (mumbled something about how nothings final yet, eventhough we've been officially booked for several months, hehe, but no one has to know that) Also, some of the other girls mentioned using space as an excuse. Just say theres only X amount of room and go from there. It will all work out trust me
  20. Welcome to the forum!!! Happy Planning!!!
  21. Hello! You should join our January thread Happy Planning!
  22. Uno, Hola, Gracias!!!! That's seriously the extent of my spanish (sad I know) My FI got the Rossetta spanish thing and he learned it incredibly fast. He's also a smarty-pants, but I have heard only good things about Rossetta. Good luck!
  23. Glad you got your rings all figured out Amarillis! I figured it would be easy to match a band to mine to but it was a lot more challenging than I thought. It's always good to get a couple of quotes when it comes to having your rings custom made, again, so glad you got it all figured out So, my dress was supposed to be in mid-August, but I called them to get an exact date and it was already in!! YAY!!! I'm going to go pick it up on my lunch break!! SOOO excited! I think I'm going to have alterations done outside the bridal shop. (There's START at $75.00, and that's for the very minimal) I'm sure I can find a better price, and am hoping I won't need a lot of alterations. I just found out my Bachelorette party/FIs Bachelore party will be on November 1st!!!! I'm excited that my girlfriends have already started coordinating things. They are un-able to attend the wedding, but wanted to give me the ultimate B-party! It will be a blast I'm sure! Let's see, what else?....We ordered a celtic version of Canon in D that came in yesterday. (you can go to youtube and type canon in d celtic wedding mix to listen to it) This version is the most beautiful I've ever heard. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about walking twards my hunny while it plays...I'm just working on lose ends right now, but am very happy with my progress. Will post pics of me and the dress A.S.A.P
  24. That's not too early AT ALL. Infact, in all the wedding planning things I've read, one of the first things they tell you to do (about a year out) is get your dress. 8 months will be here before you know it. It's funny but EVERY SINGLE PERSON including myself that I've talked to, ended up wearing the first dress they fell in love with. Mine was one of the 1st ones I tried on, and although I loved it, I thought I better keep looking. After 2 more trips, I went back and bought the dress of my dreams
