GREAT JOB Tifany! 4 miles is a lot to be proud of. :-)
  2. Oooh, I haven't done Bikram in ages! Just remember to bring a towel, because otherwise you'll slip on all of the pools of sweat on your mat. And don't wear anything that you would be uncomfortable wearing soaking wet (such as a white t-shirt with a bright pink bra!). And bring water. I would even recommend freezing your water bottle before hand, because it'll stay cooler longer.

Lets push harder in this last 6 weeks! Haha, GO USA! I realized I couldn't be too mad if Canada won, because some our US teams' best players are Canadian and technically my heritage is French Canadian. I tuned in just to see the very end. Yes, I think we need some challenge. Like one that will make a big difference. Maybe some crazy cardio?

I completely gave up Pepsi (and I was a regular one or two a day) about 2 weeks ago and I am still waiting for the results. Well, if you had one Pepsi a day, and each is worth 120 calories, then it'll take you a month to lose a pound from that alone. No worries, though, because it will be a big help in your overall plan.
  5. Lisa -- does your DH do Wii Fit too? If so, is he better at it than you are? FI is totally kicking my butt on some of the games, so one of my goals is to try to usurp his #1 Ranking. And I don't like how my Wii keeps telling me that it's surprised that I don't fall over more often with how unbalanced I am!! Plus my avatar is way fatter than FI's.

This week, I thought I did a lot better (healthy, home cooked meals for the most part, and grilled seafood without butter for V-day dinner out), and I was only down a little. Anyone else feel a disconnect in their weight from weeks where they know that they weren't doing the "right" things and weeks where they did everything they should? Maybe my body spent all of this week just trying to fix the damage I did last week? Oh, and Natasha -- don't worry about it. You're already doing us all a huge favor by taking the time to track Season 8. I don't expect you to put your life on hold to do it!

What she said. Know what sort of things you're looking for (ie light fabric if you're anticipating a hot and humid wedding day or something that shows off one of your best features or something simple vs something bling-y) and communicate that with the staff. If you like/dislike something about a dress you try on, be very vocal about why. They may have a dress similar that incorporates the things you like and gets rid of something you may hate (like that huge bow on your butt... or whatever). Also, bring your friends who are honest and have taste that you trust. I brought my FSIL who I love but who is a very nice and not very blunt person. I also brought my mom and sister who sometimes have questionable fashion tastes. They all basically told me that everything looked good on me, which was sweet but not very helpful in making a decision. And don't give in to the sales pressure. I ended up buying a dress I really liked because it was on clearance for a great price and they told me that I probably wouldn't be able to get it later. It turns out that it's not THE dress, so I could have saved myself the money by not freaking out about the opportunity.
  9. You cannot rip the Zumba DVDs and burn them to share. Trust me, I tried. My sister recently got zumba certified, and she gave me some of her duplicate work out DVDs. Then she realized that she needed one of those and I wanted to make a copy so I wouldn't have to return it to her. Unfortunately, I couldn't.

I was trying to tell him to wait and get some swagbucks to help subsidize the purchase. He told me that it was too much work! I was like "WTF? I just use it instead of google and rake in the dough!"
  11. Yes, I just joined a few months ago! I've gotten several $5 Amazon gift cards and one for Alice.com.
  12. Sorry for being MIA ladies... The past week or so has been our accounting close, and I've been training for a new position, so I've been working crazy long hours. I haven't even checked BDW for almost a week now! *GASP* Although, to be perfectly honest, I did step on the scale last Wednesday when I got home from work. I was up .1lb and foolishly thought that I should wait until I went to the bathroom to take my picture... then I fell asleep instead. The good news? If my scale is right, it looks like I dropped a few pounds of fat in the past two weeks.
  13. OMG, Jannae! You're not a baby, and I totally know what you mean. I started commuting an hour (in good traffic, as many as 3 hours in bad traffic!), and it really takes a toll on your body. I've been going to a chiro, getting monthly deep tissue massages, stretching, and doing yoga in order to manage it. I don't stretch during the day nearly as much as I should. Sometimes I get caught up in my work and I realize it's been a while since I've stood up or stretched. I thought working on my feet all day was tough on my body; I didn't realize how hard sitting on my duff could be!!
  14. Punta Cana may be different, but when I went to La Romana, my doctor said I didn't need anything.

  16. So one of the managers in my organization is leaving and everyone went out to lunch for her yesterday (I skipped, partly because I had a ton of work to do, partly because I didn't really care for her anyway, and partly because I was pretty sure the pizza and pasta being served at the restaurant would trump my will power). Then, a bunch of people baked yummies. We had brownies, two types of chocolate chocolate chip cookies, cupcakes, peanut brittle, and a few different types of amazing looking cookie bars. The guy who is heading up our weight loss challenge at work hands me a plate. I thought he was just being a gentleman and passing out plates for people. Apparently, he was trying to sabotage and only passed them out to the weight loss challenge participants!! I need to get back on track. I didn't do as well this week as I did last week.

I would think I should be dropping weight a little faster. I'm not giving up by any means but it's just getting frustrating. What is working for people? As crazy as this seems, you may need to check if you're restricting your calories TOO much. If you're hitting the gym really hard and not eating enough to fuel all that exercise, then your body is going to go "WTF? There must be a famine. I need to store these calories instead of burning them." Try using a tool that will give you a target caloric range based on your weight and exercise schedule. I know Sparkpeople takes those into account, and they give you a range of how much you should be eating. Alternatively, it could also be just what everyone else is saying --more muscle gained this week.

  19. One more vote for BE COMFORTABLE and ignore the seamstress. The last wedding I was in, the seamstress actually told me that I didn't need to breathe in the bridesmaid dress. I made her loosen it anyway, and I still almost fainted during the ceremony. Do you really want to be miserable on your wedding day?

And even avoiding TV doesn't help, because the food ads are on billboards, the internet, and even FI's XBox!! Y'all don't know how close FI and I were to ordering a late night pizza after seeing a part of a commercial last night. It took every ounce of will power I had to not get it.
  21. I got mine at David's Bridal for $99. You could also try buying from another bride. A lot of girls either sell their dress when they've worn it or sell it when they decide that it isn't their dream dress.
  22. First of all, that really sucks, and I'm sorry it happened to you. You have every right to be upset, and what's more is that you have every right to have the situation fixed to your satisfaction. When you talk to the woman, be calm and polite, but firm. Obviously, you want to throw this woman through a window, but telling her that isn't going to help you get what you want. I would ask that if the hem cannot be undone, that the shop pay to have a new dress made and expedited so it reaches you on time. If this has really put you off of having that dress (even perfectly altered), then I would request that they give you a full refund of your dress and your alterations. Remember that it's not bridezilla-y as long as you aren't screaming and yelling and throwing things. You did not get what you paid for and their negligence has cost you your dress. Any business professional should do everything in their power to rectify the situation to your satisfaction so long as you aren't being unreasonable. Figure out what you want to happen to resolve the situation and stand firm in your request that she make it happen.
