  1. Hi Lynn! Welcome to the forum. I'm also considering GBP for my wedding and you can use the thread below to research/ask questions about the resort. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t786
  2. Oh, man. I LOVE the freecreditreport.com commercials! My FSIL and I sang them on our car ride to the Outerbanks. The guys who do them are a real band and I just think that's got to be a fun gig to have.
  3. Oh, I hate the armpit hair commercial. It makes me want to puke! I also hate the Taco Bell commercial where the guy was going to tip his barrista but then stiffs them after finding out he can get a double beef burrito at Taco Bell with his change. He gives some lame excuse about service no longer being good enough to tip the guy even though nothing changed since before when we was planning on tipping the guy. This just really annoys me because I waited tables for five years, and cheap people always come up with excuses not to tip even when service is excellent.
  4. I think it depends on where you land with your dress. I think the first dress is a little too formal for that casual of a BM dress. I think it would look cute next to the second dress you have listed, though. I have to agree with those who say it might not be flattering. It also looks like it would make for some uncomfortable photos if the wrong breeze blew by, because of the length and the weight of the material.
  5. We're thinking of renting a car when we go to visit next month... do you guys think that's a good idea? Will there be difficulties in parking/getting around?
  6. Kimmy ~ I don't see why not... cruise staff are always super accommodating. We got engaged on a cruise! Best idea ever... we got a lot of attention and free booze that week.

Ltd I love Tortuga Rum cakes.... we still have a couple left over from our last cruise that we're saving for a special occasion.
  9. Also, I just thought of something. What if for the next BDW Biggest Loser we offer a free entry fee to the person who is tracking all of the weight loss and stuff week by week? Kinda as a "thank you" for all of the hard work put in.
  10. Ann, I think posting the info in a new thread would probably be the easiest for you. That way, if girls don't want to see it, they don't have to look; and you won't have to track people down to get their vote or PM them all separately or anything super labor intensive. You do so much for us as it is-- I don't want to add a lot more to your volunteer work load.
  11. Oh boy! I almost forgot to weigh in for the second week in a row! Hey Ann, would it be possible to post all of our weight loss %s to date? I think it would be good motivation to see where we are in the ranks.... definitely don't want to be coming in last! Kelly-- this slush/ice/warm/snow roller coaster we've been having is enough to make me want to stay in bed. I've been pretty demotivated lately too. Is demotivated a word? I don't know. This month has ubersucked. So glad it's almost over. Good luck, ladies.

I'm an accountant and we're in high demand, but they still laid off 30% of my department effective Thursday. I found out that they also let go a lot of my Japanese contacts. Thankfully, I'm still employed. I'm pretty sure I won't be in danger any time soon, because I'm an MVP of my organization. Although, they've been slowly offshoring our work to Slovakia, so I wouldn't be surprised if they got rid of our jobs altogether in the next few years. Plus, if they do cut me, it releases me of my obligation to the company for my MBA. I either have to stay with them for two years after I graduate in May or I have to pay them back for the degree. If I leave the company, I can definitely make more somewhere else, but I'd owe them lots of money in return. I hope that everything turns out ok for you.
  14. Welcome! We went to Grand Turk on our engagement cruise and had a blast! Do you have an island picked out?
  15. My FI mini-freaked out about the bridal shower that hasn't even been planned yet. When one of my bridesmaids said that he didn't have a say in it, he got all offended. Later, I had to explain to him that I don't really have a say in it either, because it's planned by the girls in honor of the bride. It was really random, and he isn't really particular in any of the details yet. I think he just wants to reserve the right to put his foot down more than he actually wants to put his foot down on anything.
  16. I would try RK Bridal who sells out of NYC. I looked at their website, and it seems that they definitely sell Jim Hjelm bridesmaid dresses, but they don't say that they sell their bridal line. I would send them an e-mail or call them, because chances are they can get it for you and they're pretty cheap compared to other bridal stores. http://www.shoprkbridal.com/sub.php?...t&PT=ContactUs
  17. You could always get a used dress or a $99 dress for your TTD, but I think it's silly to keep your original in tact if you're never going to wear it again.
  18. Wow... she totally should have given you a heads up on her real reason for the visit, not to mention showing up later in the day. If it were my FSIL, I would definitely let her come by and use our washer/dryer/soap any time, but she's super awesome to me and would ask nicely ahead of time. Plus... she would probably bring me rocky road cupcakes as a thank you. Definitely set up boundaries. If something isn't ok with you, have your FI let them know early on, so it's clear that stuff like this isn't ok.
  19. Oh, I understand what you mean about making people show up during snow days. My fiance is a retail manager, and he has to show up no matter what the weather is like. His commute is 45 minutes down a highway that people drive like morons on. Not to mention we live on a huge hill. One time during a storm, he couldn't get back home. It took him an hour just to get down our street!
  20. For those of you who have hit a plateau, how are you dealing with it? I feel kinda discouraged lately, like I'm trying very hard but not seeing my efforts. Also, did anyone else take measurements at the beginning? Are you losing inches but not losing weight? I think I need a second wind in this competition. :-)
  21. Sorry guys, I didn't have time to weigh-in before work yesterday, and I gave blood during work. When I got home, I felt kinda dizzy and gross, so I sacked out on the couch. I didn't remember that I hadn't weighed in until about 3 am. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who went AWOL this week.
  22. Erica, I am also sorry that you're having to deal with this. However, I'm super proud of you for being an awesome mother and for being good to yourself. You did what had to be done for the safety of your children even though it was difficult to do, and that really says a lot about how fantastic you are. Good luck to you as the rest of this unfolds. I wish the best to you.
