  5. Hey Ladies... World Community Grid is now doing work with flu strains. For those of you who are unaware, this is an program that you can download and while your computer is idle, it uses your computer's power to compute possible solutions to health problems (like vaccine possibilities and such). It also does AIDS and other diseases, I believe. It's basically a way for you to help accelerate medical research without donating money. For more info or to sign up, see the link below: World Community Grid - Register

I would let your parents and closest friends know, and hopefully they would be able to suggest it to people who want to know what to get you.
  7. Glad you found a solution that works for you! I was going to say that it would depend on how much they wanted to wear their blues. From what I know of them, they would be miserably hot in the tropical climate, and I wouldn't want them to feel like they were going to pass out during the ceremony. But, if it was very sentimental to them, then I would be more than happy to accommodate. If they really didn't care, then I'd have them wear what everyone else was wearing.

I would definitely have no problem with a wedding that served only wine.

I was super impressed when she finished up the first time b/c it wasn't nearly as bad as the first time. Just a thought! Wow, that's impressive. Yeah, my place takes like 45min-1hour and I'd much rather them get it done in 10 minutes. I can handle the pain for 10 minutes, but for 45 minutes, it feels like torture. I bought a home kit, but there's just some places I can't reach on my own.
  11. I think flowers would go well in your hair, or some sort of white strappy headbands with crystals on them to give off a greek goddess vibe. BTW, where did you get your dress? It's pretty. And it doesn't matter that it's your 3rd wedding. It's ok to look just as beautiful for this wedding as you did for the first two. If you want traditional, go traditional. If you want modern, go modern. Do what you want!
  12. I know I might get some crap for this, but: Detroit Red Wings!!!! Let's go! Game 2.1 tonight at the Joe!
  13. Oh, and join Biggest Loser Season Seven!
  14. I would suggest joining SparkPeople.com. It's like WW except without the points system and it's free. Also, for exercise, you can join a gym that has classes you like if you're worried about motivation. I like yoga, kickboxing, and Cardio Dance, so going to class is kinda fun for me. If you want something to do from home, I like Turbo Jam, but with your knee, I would suggest you do the "low-impact" options that she provides instead of the jumping around ones. Turbo Jam is good at melting the pounds quicker, and she offers a 10 day jump start menu with it. Biggest suggestion: start with something you can keep doing. Don't try to go crazy to begin with. Just start making a few healthy changes (ie cutting out processed foods or soda) and start exercising a little to begin with. Take a short jog or run up and down the stairs once or twice a day. Then if you can keep that up, start investing in other things such as weights or gym memberships. If you spend thousand of dollars doing something drastic, you'll likely just waste a lot of money and gain weight back when you stop doing it.

Yes, it was! What a spoiled girl.
  16. Congrats on being super awesome!!! You are totally sweet for moving and taking that horrid test again.
  17. Prolly a brazilian for me... maybe legs too. For the girl who asked: Brazilian is EVERYTHING, and by that we mean even the little hairs in your tushie. I only don't like it because it takes so long and is OUCH! But it's definitely worth it.

She didn't even like it when it came in.

I'm not one to pay 5K for a dress and another 5 for photography, but that's just me and I want to be able to LIVE after this is over. If your FH is worried, put his fears to rest by showing him how reasonably this can be done. I totally agree with you. I saw one bride pay $24k for her dress. I was like "Girl, for that amount of money you better be able to drive it or live in it!" A budget to show him is a good idea, especially if he handles the household budget. He's probably worried about meeting all of the financial obligations, and he doesn't want you to be married with a dream wedding but have no heat when you get back home!
  20. I'm sorry, dude. That really sucks. Especially all the baby mama drama. Is he legally obligated to pay for half of medical expenses as well? If not, I'd say let the rich bitch take care of it. I think it's messed up that his son had surgery and he wasn't informed until she sent him a bill. He should be allowed more involvement in his kid's life. Will the kid remember 10 years from now that his dad paid for half of the surgery? No. Will he remember that his dad wasn't even there to hold his hand? Likely. I don't know how child support works... can you have the courts reevaluate the situation if both parties remarry but the one who is getting the child support has a higher household income? Can you afford the most extravagent dream wedding that you may have always wanted? Probably not. Can you afford a scaled back but still super beautiful destination wedding? Maybe. From an investment standpoint, you probably should buy the house now, because it will pay off for you in the long run. However, you may not be able to secure a loan if you aren't employed and he owes child support. I would look into seeing if it's even possible for you to get a loan with a decent rate at this time. If not, then you don't even have to worry about that being an option. From a bride's standpoint, which is more important to you: Cheaper wedding now or better wedding later? If you don't want to super scale back on your wedding, then you may have to wait (or work more than one job). I would also start pricing the barebones version of each resort's wedding package, plus adding in your must haves. You may have to shop around for locations to find one that's more affordable with a pretty beach. Good luck!!
  21. My fav so far: (301): : I need to find myself a plastic surgeon husband so i can get boobs. (1-301): but u need boobs to get one in the first place. Thanks, Ann! I woke up my FI, because I was laughing so hard... he actually thought I was crying so he woke up and ran downstairs to see what was wrong. hahaha... I love it.
  22. What about the Dominican Republic? We stayed at the Sunscape Casa Del Mar (which is now the Dreams La Romana) and it was beautiful. I think one of the biggest concerns is going to an AI that is going to charge you per guest while you're there, because that can add up. I think Dreams allows 20 guests and it's like $60 pp extra over that. Gran Bahia Principe in Akumal allowed you to book all of your guests at an a la carte for no additional cost, so I'm thinking that the GBP in Dominican Republic might be the same. If the La Romana airport is too small for you and your guests, you can always go to Punta Cana instead.
  23. Melissa, that sucks. It's one thing for you to understanding when it takes her a day or two to respond, because she's working all day every day on someone else's wedding. But this has been over three weeks! She probably prioritizes brides who have weddings this weekend before brides who haven't booked yet, which I'm sure you would prefer in the long run (you know, when her attention is fully focused on you instead of new brides). However, she told you she would respond by a certain time and didn't. It's very important for her to be able to be taken at her word, and if she can't follow through and you're not ok with that, I think it's fine to go ahead and dump her. You don't want to be anxious for the next six months because she won't get back to you.
