St. Thomas - Magen's Wedding & Grand Turk TDD Photos

Thanks! I have bad news...they were discontinuing that dress right before I was married back in the fall of 2009. It's a Dessy dress....6556P (citrus ombre). Maybe you can still find them around...good luck! -
Honestly I struggled over this too. I got monogrammed towels monogrammed with our wedding location and date, in our wedding colours (orange for the guys and pink for the girls) with matching pink and orange photo luggage tags that I tied to them with a picture that said Thank-You. Â 1) It was awesome because all the guests used them to save lounge chairs during the day so even if they weren't at their seats (were eating or swimming etc.) we knew where to find our guests since every other guest used the basic navy Carnival towels. Â 2) This summer I saw more than a few guests using them at the beach/pool. Â I think they were a hit!

I had such a great experience. I definately found upgrading to a suite useful. The extra space that it gives you really makes a difference when getting ready on your wedding day. It has a nice mirrored dressed area. There is no makeup artist on the ship so go to MAC or somewhere like it, and learn to apply your own makeup or bring someone who can do it for you. I was MORE than happy with my hair stylist. I can't remember HIS name but I think it was the only male in the salon. A great OOT bag or as we did favor idea is monogrammed beach towels in your wedding color. Our guests used them out and around the pools so even if they weren't at their chair you could see where people were set up. (Carnival's towels and a navy color). That's all I can think of....

St Thomas Wedding June 2011 WC Help
~St.T Bride~ replied to thedave1022's topic in The Islands Weddings
I didn't have a very good experience with Angela. I loved their website and the packages they offered. But once they had the deposit, the communication went downhill. It took them weeks to respond to questions. I didn't have a contact number for them, and when I did a web search and found one I realize it must be a personal phone because it was answered with a very unprofessional "hello". When asked why the poor communication I was told they were on vacation because it was hurricane season. My question is why not a simple email "away message" to let your clients know? The only time they were bang on with emailing me was when they wanted more $$$ for the second deposit. Since poor communication remained so I chose to turn to Weddings the Island way. They were FANTASTIC! They went above and beyond my expectations and the day was perfect! -
Thank you all for the well wishes. I'm super pumped. Two of our wedding photos were featured in the current issue of City Life Magazine!! How exciting!

On average I think it was about $1000 for the guests. There were interior rooms for as low at $700, but it also depended on how they got themselves to Miami, and then how much the spend on the cruise for souveniers, excursions etc....Anything to do with the wedding was paid for by us (i.e. transfers to/from wedding site) Hope this helps. I'm not sure about Miami itself, but I had a great experience with the salon on the Liberty. They opened an hour early to accomodate my wedding day itinerary, and my hair was done by one of the men in the salon and I was REALLY happy with it. (I think he was the only male stylist). They don't do make-up on the Liberty, so I had a MAC consultation and she was great writing down step by step instructions from brush to use, and brush strokes and it turned out great as well. Good luck!

Oh, and they also let us bring in a CD with our first dance songs. There is dance floor in the restaurant you can use. Or, if you know someone who plays the piano and sings I'm sure they'd let you use theirs!

The first day I arrived on the ship I went to the restaurant and said, "Hi, I was told to come here as soon as we arrived..." and they said, "Melissa? It's a pleasure to meet you!" I can't stop saying how on the ball they were. Seating arrangements were made once we were on the ship. Some of the tables are non-moveable so there are some limitations. Polina, our hostess, actually made up the seating roster and number cards. So, I didn't have to do anything. Like I said the restaurant is nicely decorated so I just left it as is. They arranged for us to have one whole side of the restaurant which seated our guests nicely. We did do speeches there, without a microphone, so at times it was a little hard to hear, but we're just happy we could have them! Our dinner started at 6 and with all the courses and speeches we were out of there by 1130! Some of our guests booked early excursions the next day in Puerto Rico, so not alot of people went out dancing in the tacky disco...lol it is pretty hilarious. Hope this helps!

Hmmm, have they given you different options for locations? I'm having a hard time thinking about one that would be private & by the windows? If they moved tables the Silver Olympian dining room has panoramic windows in the back! We weren't married through the cruise ship, so we just made a group reservation - paid by us- for Harry's and they pulled out all the stops and made it feel like a formal reception. Hope this helps!

We had Jeffrey Neevel and he was great! Very personable!

St. Thomas - Weddings the Island Way

Our wedding was through Weddings the Island Way, and it was PERFECT! We did a trash the dress in Grand Turk. Here's some pics from the days... Sneak Peak -
Hello!! Let me just say that Carnival Liberty is beautiful! I had such a great overall experience. I'm glad you say you're getting married ON the ship in Halfmoon Cay, because that's one stop our cruise didn't make. There were 20 ft. swells and the captain didn't think it was safe to tender. If you want a great dining experience speak with the hostess in Harry's Supper Club. We dealt with Polina who made the night perfect and she had such great attention to detail. The gave us one who side of the restaurant so we could do speeches, and allowed us to bring a CD with our first dance songs for the dance floor! My hair was done in the salon for $65. I had the one male hairstylist and my hair was PERFECT! I'm sorry I can't remember his name. The spa staff are subpar, not customer service oriented and well....BITCHY. Stay away and get your spa services at home. Especially Rachel and Raquel...Beware you're 'couples massage' may not end up in the 'couples massage room', but rather in two small massage rooms with the middle divider panels removed with your heads opposite ways and about 3 ft. between you. They were unapologetic and unwilling to make it 'better' for us. I would have rathered paid the price for a single massage. And if you can upgrade to an ocean suite. Makes more room for getting ready on the wedding day, and it was just SO NICE! You're going to enjoy yourself...Have fun. There's a few pictures under my "Just Married =)" thread.

So glad the link worked! Quote: Originally Posted by DiamondGirl Congrats on tying the knot!! The photos are amazing!! How many guest did you have? Was it expensive? Sheila We had 41 guests. Umm, it was more than we intended to spend but we also added more to our budget by bringing photographers (WORTH EVERY PENNY!), we paid for a 1 1/2 hours island our for our guests, and our favors were about $14 pp. We also didn't skimp on dress and suit...the wedding ceremony itself was affordable, but we spent more of our extra money on the other things I just mentioned.

Just returned from our cruise wedding. We sailed Carnival Liberty - which is a beautiful ship - and got married on the island of St. Thomas using Weddings the Island Way - which were amazing to work with - The experience has left me with a glow as everything was absolutely perfect. Though we didn't get married through the cruiseline we did choose to have our wedding reception/dinner in Harry's Steakhouse - the specialty restaurant onboard - and they did a fantastic job. They gave us the private 1/2 of the restaurant, allowed for us to do speeches, allowed us to bring a CD with first dance songs and had everything including the seating arrangements printed out for us. The setting was gorgeous so it didn't require any additional decorations. I would recommend upgrading to a ocean suite. The extra room came in handy when getting ready on the wedding day. Not to mention you end up bringing extra things - and we had a toddler with us - The ceremony itself was in Magen's Bay. Weddings the Island Way had the cars there on time to pick us up, and then everything seemed to unfold like clockwork. I was anxious since I really only spoke to them over the phone 3 times, and mostly through email of what I would get for my money. Let me tell you they paid exquisite attention to every detail, from the cake to flowers to setup I couldn't have asked for it any differently. The minister was amazing, we had a steelpan player - ahhhhh....I wish I could relive that time once more. We brought our own photographers who are amazing. They are friends of ours, but work with professionalism and creativity. I can't seem to figure out how to upload pics here so stay tuned to daveandcharlotte.com for pictures soon. Feel free to ask me any questions...

Don't get me wrong, I do think she had good intentions. But let's not go overboard here with praise because she's been terrible with everything up until this last 'good deed'. This isn't my biggest complaint about her, let's say it's the cherry on top. None of my guests are satisfied with her communication or initiative either...who knows these bags might win them over now. I realize it's not the end of the world, but I've now wasted money on redundant items and that sucks. Why do I have to go out and change my OOT bags now? Oh well what's another couple hundred dollars on OOT stuff... Basically it sucks since there's nothing that can be done about it, and I'm left feeling regrets of not organizing this group myself through Carnival. I thought a TA would be the easy route, and it's been nothing but a headache.

I'm stuck at the crossroads. On one hand I realize my travel agent was trying to be thoughtful, but on the other hand she really F***ed up my plans. We sail in less than 2 months, and she knew I was planning welcome OOT bags for all my sailing guests. But she decided to give everyone a thankyou for booking gift which included photo album, camera, lotion and sanitizer!!! Most of which I planned to have in my bags and already started to buy! She also wrote a little note to the guests to look forward to their onboard gift as well, which to me seems as if she is taking credit for the onboard credits we are passing down to our guests! Now, I don't know what I'm going to do as a special token for my guests....I'm super bummed!

Hi Just wanting some input from those who have sailed the Carnival Liberty...must do's, things to miss, photography spots to think about. We're having our wedding dinner in the Supper Club, any reviews. Ideas for group activities on the ship.... Anything Liberty specific would be great!
