February 2010 brides
*Krista* replied to shellk's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Hi ladies, thanks for consoling me! I'm starting to find myself getting more and more easily agitated the closer the wedding gets, I don't know if it's all the last minute cancellations, the crappy weather, the fact that FI still hasn't picked out an outfit!!!!, our rings aren't made yet and I'm still without my engagement ring, still need to have alterations done to my dress, or that my MOH hasn't started planning my stagette/bridal shower yet.....mmmm...I think all of these things are putting pressure on me, and I'm trying to relax and enjoy, and I think I could do that if I could just sit outside with a glass of wine or cold beer on my patio, but no, can't do that either....maybe I'll still have the wine, just inside! LOL! I suppose it probably doesn't help that I just started up on birth control again and FI started a new job (YAY!!!), except he works ridiculous hours because he loves his new job! I'm really sorry to sound like a bridezilla, I'm just so freaking stressed! I'm sure you ladies know where I'm coming from, since you have been there done that! LOL! Anwyay, Brooke, that high intensity tan sounds great! I'll check into that, cause I think that may be what my gym has. All I know is that I definitely need to tan because I'm pastier than a ghost!! Seriously, my legs could blind people! Guess that's what happens when you live in a place that has winter for 8 months out of the year! LOL! This is how I feel right now!! But I always feel better after I vent to you ladies! Thanks for listening and always being there! -
WOW!! That's crap! I had a similar experience, where the WC emailed me to tell me that my credit card payment for deposit was denied, which is impossible because I have MORE than enough room! Then I realized that when I sent her the deposit information was in August, and my credit card expired in December, to be replaced with a new one, same number, but new expiration date. Anyways, they were trying to put through the deposit now - 8 months later? WTH? So, I explained to her why my deposit charge was rejected, and then she sent me another email a day or two later, telling me the same thing, she didn't put two and two together I guess!! She must have been sleeping that day or something!!! I'm sure once you talk with them, everything will be cleared up! But you stand your ground girl and give them an earfull!

free wedding?
*Krista* replied to jerzshortstuff's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
ocean wonderland, where did you get your information about the free package at dreams? I'm just wondering because it says at the end that a $300 USD surcharge for the judge? WHAT? I never heard that before, and there is nothing about that on the website, or in the wedding guide I have. Also, according to the information that Aurora sent me, the wedding gazebo is no longer included with the free package, you only get the chairs on the beach, no gazebo at all. so sad about that....you can pay to have it added though, for $150....even with the "free wedding" things start to add up! -
Congrats on your engagement! Happy planning!

LOL! Christina I'm glad you love checking in every day! I like chatting with you guys so much! Brooke - you need to slow down girl! Right now while you are pregnant it is even more crucial that you take care of yourself! I'm really p**** off right now just because of the weather we are having here! I'm not sure if you guys have heard, but it's blistering cold - like -6 celsius, and snow on the ground, and freezing rain! It's retarded for May!!! WTF? I'm really not happy about it at all. Especially when I have 8 weeks left to the wedding and really want to start upping my exercise and bettering my diet, it makes it really hard to eat healthy and exercise when its flipping cold out. All I wanna do is sit in the apartment where it's warm and eat hot comfort foods. It's terrible! Plus I wanna get a base tan going, but with absolutely zero sun, how is that possible?? I think I'm going to have to hit up some tanning booths, but I hate those things! UGH! Sorry ladies, I just needed to vent because this weather is really putting a damper on my mood....I never realized how much weather affected my mood until it went from +20 and sunshine to freezing cold and snow in less than a week's time. I hate global warming, global cooling, el nino, or whatever is causing this!!!!!! -
Hey Northernflasher! Thanks! I was assuming that if I paid the extra fee for setup in a restaurant for a group of 10 people, that that meant, they would just basically make us a reservation, but that we wouldn't have special servers or waiters, special private area, etc., which is why I absolutely refuse to pay for that, seeing as it's something that is part of the all-inclusive. However, if there is special service that we get for being a wedding party, I may consider paying extra for the WCs to set that up. If I get poor service though, and I paid the extra, I would be extremely peed off! LOL! I have considered just having my mom or someone else go right when the SSG opens up and request a table for 10, that way we would be one of the firsts in line and should be able to get in right away. My mom, like me, also thinks it's ridiculous to pay just for the WCs to tell the restaurant servers to push a few tables together for our group. Our whole group will be there for pretty much the full two weeks, so I hope we don't have too much trouble getting tables at restaurants for 6,8,10 people. I understand that some places don't have the seating for that many all together, but even tables close together would be sufficient. I think that is not too unreasonable of me to expect, considering the price we are paying to stay there for 2 weeks! Sorry, I don't mean to sound b*tchy, because I'm very generous and gratuitious, however, I expect something in return such as being able to enjoy my dinners with my guests who have travelled half way around the world to be there for my wedding and vacation. Sorry, just my vent....

Their policy is that more than 10 people is a "group" and requires the special accommodations and fee. This is because it's more work for them to cater to groups of this size. That being said, you may get lucky and be able to walk into a restaurant and get a big table all together or several tables next to each other. If you are only 10-12 then I can see this being the case, but I doubt it if you are 15-20 or more. But even if they do do it it's possible you may have to wait a long time for such a big table. But you can certainly try. However if you want to do a group dinner and guarantee that everyone sits together and that you don't wait forever you're probably better off going to the buffet. Hey Sunbride! THank you soooo much! That is super helpful since I was wondering what the dreams restaurant policy was for large groups. For the buffet, what are the food options like? I want to have a really nice sit down dinner where we are served - rather than having to go through a buffet line. That's why I was thinking probably SSG for wedding dinner, but we can't make reservations for a group table can we? We would just have to wait until a table for 10 opened up?

I am interested in hearing about your reception and also what your experience was for getting dinner reservations for the group. My understanding is that less than 25 people can get reservations together at any of the restaurants? I am hoping to have a group dinner the first night everyone arrives, but that will be Sat. night so if it happens to be a fiesta night we would probably just meet on the patio. Hi Erin, I'm getting married on July 10 at Dreams Tulum and I'm only going to have about 10 guests. I've been inquiring about doing dinner reservations as well, and from what I can tell on their wedding guide, they charge a setup fee of about $20 per person to "setup" your wedding table of guests in one of the restaurants. The buffet or theme night would be free. I think this is a little ridiculous if they actually charge to have you setup a table for 10 in one of the restaurants, seeing as we can just go to the restaurant ourselves and ask for a table for 12 people, at no extra cost, and we can do that at any restaurant. Even if the restaurant doesn't usually put tables together, you can request a few tables in the same area, so you are all close enough to visit together. Have you filled out your wedding form yet that the resort sent?

That is a weird dream! I too have weird dreams - usually having to do with my anxiety about the wedding. I had one dream, where it was like I forgot it was my wedding day, so I was rushing to get ready, and I didn't have enough time to get finished. I usually have those types of dreams around big events in my life, or when I have exams, I dream that I sleep in and/or forget that I have an exam and I'm totally unprepared....weird!!! As if I would forget it's my wedding day! GEESH!

The etsy seller I used was peaceloverhinestones, she was very easy to work with and fast as well! I emailed her with my custom request, and she quoted me $35-40 (I can't remember how much exactly) including shipping to Canada, for 5 iron ons. I considered that pretty good because they are really big, and very well done - with small, medium, and large rhinestones to accentuate different parts of the letters. I was also able to pick my colours/fonts for all the them. I chose the Disney font for mine, because I love everything Disney! Hey northernflasher!!! Thanks so much! Seeing your script is super helpful, to be able to see how you worked inthe legal stuff into your personal stuff. Also, I didn't know you could replace the ol campo reading - that thing is awful! LOL! I think I will try to replace mine as well, and see what they say!
