I'm having this same concern, and I'm also getting married at Dreams Tulum. When I asked about personalizing the ceremony, I was told we could add our own vows. I would really like to have a hand ceremony though, so I hope I can somehow get that incorporated. I am also curious to see how they work in the ring exchange, as the copy I was sent had nothing about rings in it. It was very short and weird sounding...

So I asked Aurora some more questions when I returned my packet of info to her: I told her that we are going to put tequila bottles on each of the tables, and other small decorations. We also have mexican cut out banners to hang. I thought the fee for a set up was $150, but she told me the decoration fee is $3 usd per person...weird? I also don't like the fillings for the wedding cakes, so I asked if we could have vanilla she said yes. That's about it for now =) xo Hey there, Aurora also quoted me $3 per person for a setup fee, but everything I've read on here says that once you get down there that you won't even be dealing or see Aurora, as they have different people for answering emails and doing actual wedding coordinating of the event. There were several people who said they were quoted things by Aurora and then once they had the wedding contract, they weren't charged the things that Aurora had said. I think Aurora is really by the book, and the wedding coordinators are more flexible. Everything I've read says that if you bring your own stuff, you will be charged $150 for setup for everything - sashes, tulle, decos, etc. and that's it - no $3 per person charge, just a flat $150. I'm just hoping that doesn't change before I get down there.

Brooke - I'm so sorry to hear about your friend/bridesmaid drama. People can be so awful and rude sometimes! I think you have every right to be upset and hurt in this situation. They could have booked their site visit for the same time as your wedding - that's just laziness and poor planning (maybe deliberate - who knows?) on their part...I can almost empathize with their position on only inviting certain friends and family, because I had the same problem. Our wedding package only allows for 20 people to come to the dinner. More guest could come later for the reception/dance, etc, but we are only given 20 meals for people, enough cake for 20, etc. So I had to tell my aunts who were coming, that them and their husbands were invited but not their sons (who are really young, so even though they are my cousins, I'm not close with them). FI and I had to really think about who our top "20 people" are and who we really wanted to spend the day with us. I did however, make sure to let them know that they are more than welcome to bring their friends/kids, etc to the resort and for the reception, just not the ceremony or dinner. I'm really blessed because a lot of my family understood this, but some didn't and got offended. It hurt at first, but I just keep trying to remind myself that it's our wedding and we will be the one's to remember/think back on it forever! I think it would have been better if your friends would have done something like that, told you that their wedding would be private and intimate, but they would love to have you down there to celebrate/vacation with them. It seems to be true that as the wedding process goes on that people's true colors do come out. You realize who your real friends/family are for sure. Even those who can't come are totally supportive and talking about how bad they wish they could come. Others are acting like it's a pain in their butt that we are getting married down there. Just gotta keep our heads up and realize that it's their loss!!! Tricia - those flowers are great! Much better colors and there are more of them! Excellent! Teshy - good luck with packing! You need to hound that boy! lol! Welcome home Ali- cant wait to hear all about it! Krista H - Hope you find a great swimsuit!! -

Or just add another card with the invitation? I'm not sure it would look right to put it on the invite itself! I'm open to any suggestions!! Thanks in advance! P.s. just did a site visit and its gorgeous, much bigger than I ever imagined. I almost went with Riviera Cancun...but no comparison. This place has it all Hi - I did this same thing, didn't send out STDs but rather just sent invites. I included my wedding website on another card, similar to the rsvp card, that just said... For more information on our wedding, please visit our wedding website: .......... I jazzed the card up to match my invites and rsvps and I think they turned out great! Hope this helps!

I'm so excited now that I can just bring my wedding certificate back with me and not have to leave it in Mexico!

I agree 130 is ridiculous for someone 5'10"! You'd look freaking anorexic!! JEEZ! I'm "supposed" to be 130 pounds, I'm 5'3", and I get told by my doctor all the time that I'm too heavy and need to lose weight and that my BMI is too high. I guess because I'm so short, it seems that I'm too heavy because I'm 160 pounds, but I'm a size 10/12 street clothes, so I'm like WTF? .... I really hate that I get told I need to lose weight just because I'm muscular, I work out everyday, lift weights and eat healthy! I'm getting to a point in my life where I realize that even when I was smaller ( in highschool), I still thought I was "fat" because our media and society has portrayed women so poorly for so long, and it has created so many body image issues out there. It's to the point, that even when we are thin, we don't see ourselves as thin, we just compare ourselves to the next thinnest girl, and how we are not thinner than her.... I believe that as long as you are happy and healthy that is all that matters!! We should praise all sizes, shapes, etc!

I appreciate it! Mwcfarms - I'm just wondering if you have to have the certificate in spanish translated before they will accept it here at the banks, etc? Will they accept it if it's not in English (because they can't read it..)? If so, where is good to have it translated in Canada? I've tried going on the mexican consulate in Canada's website and I can't seem to get anywhere because the links don't work properly

Tricia - I think it's because the flowers they used are toooooo big, they flowers in your inspiration bouquet are much smaller, also, the pink is definitely not the right shade, it needs to be darker, like a fuschia color. It looks like your inspiration bouquet was made with lots of small roses, so they should try to do that. Hope that helps! Brooke you look gorgeous!! You are one beautiful bride!!! Susie!! Congratulations! That's awesome! -

Hi Ladies! I had a great weekend shopping with my mom! Found some beautiful sundresses and a party dress! My mom found her dress for the wedding and her dress for the rehearsal dinner too, so it was a successful shopping trip! I love shopping! Krista - I'm sooooo sorry to hear about your Grandma. I understand how difficult it is to feel so sad at such a happy and significant time in your life. I'm glad you were able to spend some time with her. And she will be able to be there with you now. She is no longer restricted by the physical world so she can travel with you wherever you go! *Hugs* Tricia - OMG skinny girl! You look great!! I hope I look half as beautiful as you in my dress! Teneil - I looooooove that dress!! That was my second choice of style and I think it's perfect for a Mexican wedding. It has that sexy, elegant, flirtatious look to it! It's great! Beautiful necklace Chris! Raykel - It's good to hear that you had a great shower! That's so interesting about the "used" stuff...tradition, eh? lol... Shells - I'm glad to hear that your hen night was such a success!! Timberly any new info on finding a new hairstylist? -

That's great to know! Thanks! I too have been dealing with Aurora and she quotes me exact prices for everything, which I've seen on this forum, doesn't usually end up being charged.

Hi ladies! Raykel - I'm so glad things worked out with your dress! And I think the idea about the rose on the chair is nice, and not sappy at all, I've seen some brides who've gone so far as to have a picture of the person on a table at the reception with candles. I thought it was very touching! I'm also very sorry that you and your mom have to go through the pain of not having him there on your special day. It sounds like the lady in Calgary is taking you for a ride! why are people so shitty sometimes? Susie! I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!! You are in paradise and you are going to marry your man!!! It gave me goosebumps reading your post....but the passing out part - not cool! you need to get some major rest when you get back to Canada! I'd say while you are in mexico, but that probably won't happen! heeheehee Shells have fun at your hen night! I love that term! I can't wait to see your planning thread! My mom's coming to town this weekend to go dress shopping for her. I'm excited because my mom's like my best friend and I can't wait to see what we pick out for her! Also, she hasn't seen me IN my dress yet, so I think I will try it on for her! -

Bump!! Keep um coming ladies! -
Hi everyone, After lots of debate, my FI and I have decided to stick with our original decision to have the legal wedding in Mexico (not do the legal stuff before and do symbolic while we are there). I know that the resort (Dreams Tulum) offers a service where they can have your certificate translated and then sent to you later (this can take up to 4 months), but I don't want to wait that long, nor do I want to leave my certificate there. I would like to bring back my official wedding certificate with me (I don't want to leave it there for fear of it getting "lost", etc). I have heard that I need to have it officially translated/notarized once we return so that it has an official English translation for the purposes of name changes, etc. Since I live in Regina, Saskatchewan, I'm not sure how I can go about this, what the costs are, etc. I've tried to contact the Mexican consulate in Canada, but I can't seem to find the right person or get any response from those I do email. Does anyone have any advice about this process? Thanks ladies and hope your planning/honeymooning is going well!

YAY!! Susie I'm so excited for you!!! I can't wait to hear all about it and see pictures! Have the time of your life girl! Alison! WOW! You are smoking hot! I really like the one with the rose petals! Amazing! Chris - Totally know how you feel about people not seeming interested/excited about wedding stuff. I feel like when I get really excited about something, and I try to share, nobody else shares my excitement, which puts a damper on my party....boo.... But then I come on here and things are awesome! Brooke your stuff looks great! I really like your vases and your oot bags! Those OOT bags have great/practical things in them that your guests will surely use! Great work! Timberly I can't believe your BBM did that!! AWFUL! What is with some people? Don't they realize how important this time is? My FI's first choice for Best man said yes, then backed out cause he "couldn't get the time off work", then his second choice said hell ya, then backed out cause he was only planning on spending $1200, not $2000 on a vacation....brutal....and he makes like 10 grand a month. All that on top of FI's dad not coming just puts a big damper on FI's mood... I felt bad being all excited about booking our trip (I was pretty much jumping off the walls) when FI was all sad because his second choice for Best man said he couldn't make it.... ugh.... -

Hey girls - GREAT NEWS!! I booked our tickets/hotel last night! I'm so excited and it feels so real!! It's really weird how it feels more and more real with every step I take. The invitations were the first step to make it feel real, then the dress, and now the airfare! I feel like it just keeps getting more intense as I go! You guys must be buzzing right now with only have a few days/weeks left!!! Timberly - sorry to hear about your FI's reaction. I'm sure once he sees it he'll love it! If not kick him in the a**...lol... Krista have fun at your party!! I'm glad you are able to put the negative behind! Tricia! Happy Legal Day! Congrats girl! Have fun at your BD shoot! Susie - I'm glad to hear you had a shower/stagette, and that it was such a good time! 18 bottles of wine! AWESOME! Raykel you are not a loser for making lists! That makes me feel better too....having control over what I CAN control...tee hee.... Brooke sorry to hear about your computer, hopefully you can recover it and there's no serious damage. My previous shoe pics didn't seem to work, so I'll try again. I hope it works this time! Nice Shoes Online For Less - The Shoe Company http://www.theshoecompany.com/shop-b...XX906XXXX.html
