There's going to be a huge fireworks show - I think all over town - but I know for sure at the stadium which is located right next to the Sheraton. Here's the link: http://www.puertovallarta.gob.mx/anu...osmorillos.jpg For those of you who don't speak Spanish it basically says that the whole thing will open-up at 8:00 p.m. with a Chinese lion dance and then they will proceed to set-off the castillos - for those of you not familiar with a castillo, it's a big large structure made of fireworks and, when they set it off, it spells out things or has a design to it that is revealed as the fireworks go off. They are beautiful, but a little dangerous ... I use to call them "crowd burners" because of one we saw in Mexico City - first people were so close that sparks were flying into people's hair and their family would be patting their head to get out the sparks and then the top went flying off and my hubby thought it was suppose to do that and I was thinking "um, not it isn't" and everyone is watching it whirl into the air like a flying saucer - then it came falling back down into the crowd and everyone was running to get out of the way . But I'm sure these displays will be much safer, as it's an international symposium and they are really amazing to watch!

Thanks you guys -you're all super kind and give me warm fuzzies :). MissLucky7 - awesome! I'd love to hear your ideas!! But, no matter what, I'm sure, no matter where you decide to have your wedding, it will be great! I LOVE being married :) (most of the time, except when he doesn't do what I tell him to do when I tell him to do it lol). Sarah - I liked your stuff too and added your website to the link on my blog. Oh ... hey, FYI if you guys want to see the stuff I find on the web and feel is relevant to PV, I write about it here twice a month: Mishka Designs' Blog It's mostly geared towards coordinators in the PV area, but I think there are ideas you guys could use too - I try to focus on stuff that will work with our climate and with the type of materials I know we can get here (or make). :)

I was doing some other stuff when I remembered Ztai and that several times someone was asking about a rehearsal dinner place. This place is amazing - what it DOES NOT have is a view of Vallarta nor is it on the beach. What it DOES have, however, is it's located right smack downtown, it has both an indoor and an AMAZING outdoor area and the food is really good. This is their website: ZTAI Restaurant Lounge and Garden Puerto Vallarta Mexico But I don't think they have really good photos to show what they are. On the Malecon side of things they have an upstairs bar which overlooks the malecon. Then, when we go inside the bar and continue further back, their's this large open area with big tall trees and a rustic brick wall perfect for showing videos or movies or whatever and tables and sofas! Then, on the other side of the open area, they have their restaurant which is closed and has air conditioning. Anyway, just a different idea for a rehearsal dinner venue!

Thanks you guys :). It was SUPER fun to do (but I was super tired later )! Just to give you an idea on costs (for when you're doing pricing for your wedding with other people) -This entire wedding decor/design cost approximately $6,200 USD and that included: all flowers, tablecloths (for both reception and cocktail), napkins, centerpieces, dance lanterns, favors, huppah, cupcake tower, pillows, toys for kids, over 400 candles, floating lanterns, place cards/escort cards/table markers, chair covers, drink sign, etc. (all decor you see) and was a party of 80 guests.

Pirates of the Bay

I've been on the cruise - we went during the day but I've always wanted to go at night - mostly because then it's really just a party! We had a great time - we went with a group of friends. The food isn't that great but the drinks were wonderful . -

I live around the area you mentioned - just a few blocks from the Sheraton actually, so I'll keep my eyes out ... I know there's a girl who has a little salon a few blocks from me and I think she only charges about $50 pesos ($5 dollars) or maybe even less for a hair cut ... when I'm out and about later this week I'll keep my eyes peeled!

you posted this a long time ago, so you may not need anyone, but I do know someone and he's fantastic. They own a little gym in Plaza Caracol and we had he and a partner come out to a wedding one time and do some salsa demonstratrions - but he also use to be my teacher. His name is Israel Andon and he works at Shanti Studio Shanti Studio. I believe he does speak English.

My hubby is a stylist who cuts men's hair - but he works at a salon, not a barbershop ... I have seen a couple of barbershops in town but I can't think of where they are - next time I'm walking around I'll pay closer attention and let you know -BUT, just so you know, the barbershops are really "local" in flavor - not that that's bad, but they won't be upscale (just so you know). Cuts there are super cheap ... I think like $40 or $50 pesos (like 4 or 5 dollars).

PV Restaurants
Mishka Designs replied to adeybaby's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
Hey ya'all ... I thought I would just let you know that Fajita Republic has moved ... they are still on the same street but now they are across the street and down west (closer to Boca Bento). Also, a note on Vista Grill - GREAT place, great food and cheaper than Cafe de los Artistes - CDLA is THE most expensive restaurant we have in town. Just so you guys know. Pipis doesn't take reservations, so I think trying to set-up a dinner there would be super difficult. I might also suggest a new restaurant downtown - I haven't been there yet but it looks really great mostly because of location - it's right above the Starbucks downtown and has an amazing view of the ocean, downtown and the Virgin de Guadalupe church. I think it's called Chilaquiles. We'll go there in a bit and, when we do, I'll let you know how the food was. You might also consider Nikki Beach - I don't know how the food is there, either, but I've been to a couple of parties there (with appetizers, drinks) and it's a really nice location, plus it has an indoor and an outdoor area which is also nice. It's located in the Westin. Also there's a restaurant that's not really well known - I haven't eaten there since they changed owners (it use to be owned by Boca Bento, but now it isn't!) but it's called Spiaggia. I think this restaurant is a GREAT location because it's right on the beach but it's not surrounded by other restaurants - sortof off on its own and closer to Buena Aventura than to downtown. Plus, they have an indoor and outdoor area. Lastly, if you want to do something super private with a great view and outdoors, you might try Terra Noble and cater-in your dinner by either De Santos or Boca Bento (who has a catering company called Plush) or, perhaps, one of the local catering companies like Andres or Polo. -
