Has anyone used organza table overlays?

In addition to organza, which, when done right (like it was here) looks beautiful, you can also use chiffon overlays . -
This is one of the real estate agents that's famous in Nuevo Vallarta for having some of the best villa rentals ... Casa China Blanca - El Farallon - Costa Banderas - North Shore Puerto Vallarta - La Punta Realty, Punta de Mita luxury real estate and vacation rentals - Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The one villa I've worked at several times in Nuevo Vallarta is China Blanca - I like the villa but it is very stark/modern. But I'm sure, if that's not your style, La Punta Realty can help you find something else. You might also consider looking at villa rentals in Sayulita and San Pancho (it's also called San Francisco). Sayulita is about an hour north of Vallarta and San Pancho is about 5 minutes further north. Some really beautiful villas in both places. Sayulita is sortof a hippie community and has some great artistic shops - slightly "touristy" but not overly. San Pancho is definitely more rustic - but we drove by some amazing villas (at least from the outside!).

Congrats and welcome! PV Rocks - there are some really cool places in Nuevo Vallarta, Sayulita and San Pancho that aren't touristy at all . I vote for us!

personally, I'm not a fan of Mexican candy, either - although I did include them once in my birthday party and everyone loved trying the different flavors, kinds . You might try this site: Ricolino Candies / Dulces y golocinas Ricolino - mexican candy Also, try doing a search under "dulces de Mexico" - I think you'll find a lot more things. You might also try this: Mexican Candy - Sweet Little Mexico What you are searching for is "typical mexican candy" or "dulces tipico de mexico." Hope that helps!!

Do I need a WC??

I thought the hard part was done, deciding on a date (which took 6 months) and find/choosing a location. But I have a feeling this is going to get a lot more complicated than I had anticipated! Once again, thank you all for your help!! You're welcome! You've just chosen a place off the beaten path is all, but I think a good WC will be able to really help you through it and make things a lot less stressful in the long-run... I do believe once you've chosen your WC things should get a lot more fun . Any other questions, just let me know. -

I can have my dad call from my house here to give us an idea - also I just got a call to Mexico package for 10cents a minute - just for occasions like this! Here you go!! The contact's name is Rose and the address is: Mercado Palmar De Aramara Local 83 (it's overy by Walmart ... FYI) 322-225-3221 Fax/ phone 322-225-3317 Phone I DEFINITELY suggest that you order beforehand. Otherwise, they just get in what they get in and you get what you get, sortof thing . HEY, where they are isn't pretty, eh? It's in an old mercado, SUPER local, tiny little place in the midst of a bunch of other stuff (like a butcher and little places to eat and little tiny place selling other stuff). But she will be WAAAAY cheaper than if I gave you the name of a pretty florist shop. Just don't want you to be scared and think I'm crazy!

I'll write more about this, this weekend as I'm planning on coming here for dinner - but I stopped by there tonight to see how it would work for you guys for a rehearsal dinner. This is the info I have so far: GREAT view of the ocean and Los Arcos (as I thought it would have . Their capacity is 180 seated. They have an indoor space (seats up to 90) which is air conditioned and an outside space which seats up to 90, as well. The inside space has glass window doors all around so, if you have more than 90 and need to spread out, you just slide the doors open and wa-la everyone is connected. Right now they don't have an event fee - which is AMAZING. I think it's because they are a new restaurant and trying to drum up some good business. They also told me that, if you want something that's not on their menu, they are open to creating a menu based on things that you are looking for!! I was also told that the owner speaks English!! That's also AMAZING . Info: Los Chilaquiles Zaragoza 160, 4th Floor, Corner of Juarez tel: 322-223-9482 322-223-9504 email: [email protected] Owner: Antonio Sanchez Flores

Do I need a WC??

But of course many details have yet to be determined, ie. flowers, dj, photographer, transportation. I'm hoping that the potential WC will be able to negotiate better rates from the vendors, is this likely? I feel that vendors are giving us higher rates because we are tourists. I'm not sure what rates the vendors are giving you, but, like I said before, the place you've chosen is far from Vallarta and ALL the flowers are shipped from GDL - so, I wouldn't be surprised AT ALL if prices are higher. For example, if someone wanted us to decorate out there, I would have to charge more because I have to get all my crew and equipment out there and, then, the crew has to stay for the entire duration of the event, because it's too time consuming for them to go home and come back at the end of the night. And, as the flowers are more than likely coming from Guadalajara -which is already around 5 hours away from Vallarta, you're tacking another 2.5 hours of travel/gas time - so I wouldn't be surprised if the flowers cost more as a result. Just something to keep in mind . -
Do I need a WC??

I am not getting married at a resort and am beginning to think its a mistake I was in PV last month on a scouting trip and completely fell in love with Costa Careyes (about 2 1/2 hours out of PV). I am having a difficult time trying to find vendors in that area. I am still waiting on a list from the management office. However, their prices are very, very high. I feel that I am at their mercy since I am not to familiar with the area and/or vendors. Should I hire a WC? And if so, can anyone recommend a good one? I tried Dazzling Details but they were booked for my date. And after reading through a lot of your threads learned they are a bit pricey. Any insight, help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Hey you! THAT IS BEAUTIFUL! I've never been there before but WOW! I can see why you fell in love. The problem you're going to run into (which is why the $$ are probably so high) is that all flowers are being shipped south from Guadalajara. And, then, I know that Manzanillo is a little place, so finding a good WC is probably a little harder - and then having a WC come down from Vallarta - well, that probably gets a little $$. It's not easy moving equipment and coordinating something that's so far away. Doable - just not easy. 4 coordinators I've worked with and like - 2 I think would be much more likely to travel south: 1. Carol from Vows Vallarta (Puerto Vallarta Weddings | Vallarta Original Weddings) 2. Memo from MarWeddings (:: marweddings ::) The next two, I don't know - they get booked rather quickly and I'm not real sure if they are willing to do weddings that far out of Vallarta. 3. Tamara and Lucy from Incredible Weddings (Puerto Vallarta Weddings & Events) 4. Priscilla from Prisar (I actually haven't met Priscilla yet - I will meet her this Wednesday - but we share several mutual friends and I've heard rave reviews about her) (Prisar Vallarta - Organizadores de Bodas en Puerto Vallarta). Hope that helps! -

I'm thinking of mesh shopping bags, talavera shot glasses, hand-painted maracas, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good marketplace that has textiles and ceramics? Thanks!! For talavera shot glasses you need to go to the Old Mercado/Flea Market which is located up against the Rio Cuale. Somewhere around the street Guerrero and Cuauhtemoc (I provided a map in another post somewhere - just go to where you see two rivers entering the ocean - north will say "encino" in red letters - past the arches). I don't know how to explain to you how to find the people who do really good deals on this because the market is fairly big. But there is a merchant in there who sells a lot of Talavera - it should cost you around $30-$40 pesos per shot glass UNLESS you are buying shot glasses from Puebla. Puebla talavera is THE MOST $$ and those shot glasses sell for around $50-$60 pesos - Puebla talavea is gorgeous. The other talavera is nice too, but there is a definite difference. For maraccas ... the best deal downtown (IMO) is a shop located on the malecon. I don't know the name of it but I know it's close to Hard Rock cafe. They have a big bin of maracas outside their store. I can't get them much cheaper than that, unless I go to Pitillal - and I really don't recommend you go there until you've made a few trips down here and have a really good command of Spanish. So, for the tourist areas, that store has the best buys on Maracas. About 3 blocks down from there, there is another store that has a selection of maracas that is also not terrible and the price is decent. Mesh shopping bags ... I know I've gone out tramping for those before but I just run across them, haggle - I don't remember the prices on those (although I think around $20 - $40 pesos). You're going to get a better price if you buy these OFF of ANY main drag - it's just a matter of footwork. I WOULD NOT recommend that you get those at the Flea Market (old mercado) nor any other store that's off the malecon - they will charge you too much and more than likely won't negotiate. that's my 2 pesos worth!!

I guess I really wanted lillies b/c my grandmother carried them on her wedding day and I love the name Lily and thought if I ever had a girl I'd have a story to tell her. Hmmm. I have family driving in from GDL the Wednesday prior to the wedding ( I get married on Friday). But I think they would die by then. They MIGHT be okay, if you keep them in air conditioning ... of course, it depends on the flowers. Some flowers will do better a few days' earliers (like lilies, stargazers, casablancas) and others probably not quite as well (like callas, orchids). But if they stay someplace cool and get water and some 7UP, they probably would be alright.

All of our flowers are brought-in from GDL, so we don't have a local flower market, per se. I do know that Freesia will sell you flowers in a bunch a lot cheaper than the other florists in town, but it's still WAAAAHYYY more $$ than if you ordered from a vendor in GDL. The problem with the vendors in GDL is that you have to babysit them CONSTANTLY to make sure they are on top of things and getting your order to you. And you have to pay them in a bank here in town and you have to go to the bus station to pick the flowers up. What I'm saying is it's a rigamaro - one that's not so bad when your WC does it but I honestly don't think you want that stress right before your wedding - But if you're a good stress handler, you might try Freesia. They only speak Spanish but I think I have the phone # somewhere, if you would like to give it a go . This thing kept saying my message was too short so I'm blabbing on for no reason at all :)

PV brides, please share your bouquets with me TIA I just had a thought yesterday when I was out for a ceremony because I saw them growing up against a house ... what about white antherium? They have a similar sleek feel of callas... I wouldn't know why they wouldn't be available if I just saw them out growing yesterday. Anyway, Just a thought!
