We just did a wedding in fuschia and orange with adobe pots ... the blog is here: Mishka Designs' Blog: Mexico Chic Wedding! I think there are A LOT of things you can do with that motif - it's just like you said - being a little creative with it. As we are a "destination beach" place as well, believe me, the majority of our weddings don't have anything (or hardly anything) to do with seashells, so I don't think that's strange at all .

You might try some of the florists in town to see if they have any in their equipment. I know Janice from the Hacienda has them, but I highly doubt she would let you rent them and take them someplace else. Your coordinator should be able to help you with finding a florist who might have them.
