THEY ARE WRONG .... and you're in luck because I have oodles of pictures to prove it: Gallery #1 on my website as well as blogged here: Mishka Designs' Blog: Mexico Chic Wedding! Gallery #3 - chiffon on the trellaces as well as overlays on white tablecloth Gallery #4 - green chiffon overlay runners Gallery #9 - chiffon overlays up the wazoo Gallery #14 - beeeeautiful chiffon overlay Gallery #17 - chiffon overlays (and I think a few tulle - don't suggest tulle but we got lucky with the few overlays in this gallery) The one thing you will want to check is to make sure that the tone of chiffon you purchase looks well over a white tablecloth - because some do not. You don't have to go with chiffon - there is other fabric you could use ... but I like chiffon because for a few dollars you can really transform the look of something. Of course, if my clients have a few more ducets and IF it's in the design scheme (there are some designs where, believe it or not, white is best i.e. Gallery #13), then I love to be able to go for a different fabric (like Gallery #18, Gallery #20). But, on a budget, chiffon ROCKS. You WILL, however, need to iron it the day of. So keep that in mind. It wrinkles easily (unfortunately).

I will go to the Paper Depot (wholesale paper) and see what I can come up with! Thanks for the words of wisdom! WAHAHA ... I didn't mean for it to be quite so educational ... so, maybe that wsa more like 8 pesos worth . The only fabric store I remember from when I lived in the States was JoAnn's Fabrics ... not sure if that's a chain or not.

And white text... can you even do white text besides with a paint pen? I have a lot to learn! PS... any good ideas on where to get good fabric for the overlays You are the best! Hello! Well, I've decided to start Two Pesos - it just strikes me as something fun to do ... so, I'll be starting it next week - tune-in . As to your comments.... Okay, there are two different kinds of cards ... one is called escort cards - these are the cards that are usually placed in the cocktail before your reception that tells people what table they are sitting at. Super great if you have a lot of people. Not so useful for a smaller crowd (IMHO). The second is called a place card. Place cards have the person's name on it, are actually at each place sitting at the table and lets your guest's know that they sit at that setting. NOW, there are three different ways to do seating. You could either a) have escort cards which tell people WHAT table but, once they get to the table, there is no place card so the guest can choose where at that particular table they wish to sit OR have escort cards telling people WHICH table AND, then, place cards at each table which announce where they sit OR c) just have a place card at each setting announcing that is your guest's place. I think, for a small group, place cards are just fine OR escort cards which tell them WHICH table but not a specific PLACE at the table. BUT for a larger group AND ESPECIALLY for a group who has several menu choices, I think you need BOTH escort card AND place cards - for several reasons. 1. when you have a larger group it's best to be very organized and escort cards/place cards help you direct people where to go without having to have someone personally assist them and it helps the waiters GREATLY if you have people sat at specific seatings when they go to serve who has fish, chicken or steak (or whatever). Yes, there is such a thing as white PRINTED text - done right, it's really pretty . AND, if you are asking me about waiting until you arrive in Mexico to buy your overlays, I don't suggest it. We only have two fabric stores in town (count that people TWO), and I CANNOT tell you the amount of times I've had to change a design mid-stride because I need 15 meters of fabric and they (THEY being BOTH stores) only have 10 in the color I need .... or the times I cannot get the shade I want or the pattern I want so I have to reinvent, redesign, rethink everything!!

So far I only have the dresses, and they are darker but oh well. Ok, ready for your pesos... Two pesos ... I should start having a blog session called "two pesos" that just answers the questions I get on here ... whaddya think? Anywho ... IMHO (ever so "h", btw ), if it were me, with blue overlays, I would have red napkins which were tied with an aqua blue ribbon AND I MIGHT be put the placecard tied onto the ribbon and hanging down - the placecard would have a red background with a darker aqua paper placed on top and a white font (like red paper, slightly smaller aqua paper and the letters in white) and, perhaps, depending on your invites, I might place a red accent on the placecard which ties in with your invite or STD's. IF you don't have a napkin accent - perhaps you could place the red napkins in the wine glasses and, then, on the plates, you could do a place card which has aqua blue as its base with red on top and white or silver font - super pretty. I LOVE place cards but what I would do with them would so much depend on your invites and your "theme" - flowers, hearts, birds, monogram, curly design, starfish, stripes, circles, etc etc etc? Different shapes could be done, graphics could be done, fun things with ribbon could be done, fun things with an accent flower could be done etc etc. BUT the one thing I do know is, as mentioned, with an aqua overlay, I think definitely a red napkin - it's an accent that will really show up but won't be overpowering. Also, I actually think it's GREAT the the dresses are a shade of aqua but not a light aqua, like it sounds you want for the tables - I think if you can stay in with a darker shade and a lighter shade for the decor with perhaps an even lighter shade for things like place card paper, it will actually look nicer than if you had absolutely everything the same shade.
  6. actually, most of us hate those condos - the Molino could have been a nice hotel if they had kept up on the upkeep - but now it doesn't matter - it's all gone. .

  16. This is so funny! I didn't even know anyone had posted about the baby on here!! Thank you guys so much and sorry I'm so late in responding - I generally never look in this thread . So, for those of you who were wondering, here are a few scraps on the baby: Baby Announcement: Ocean's Birth- scrapblog.com Halloween: Oceans 1st Halloween- scrapblog.com
  17. It's closed and torn down - now there are million dollar condos where the hotel use to be.
  18. Hey you! I'm sorry you've had this common experience - and, unfortunately, it is common. I've written on this before but, so you know, most hotels have one coordinator who handles ALL of their weddings and events and some of these hotels have several weddings in one day - so, you are working with coordinators who are overwhelmed, over worked and underpaid. And the turn over is fairly common as well - so the coordinator you start with is probably not the coordinator you will end with. I don't mean to discourage you, just to be honest with you as to how these things work down here. I don't want you to think I'm dissing on the hotel coordinators because I like a lot of them and a few of them are friends of mine - most of them are doing their very best and really do want your wedding to be a success and for you to be happy - but it can be a very overwhelming job and makes it difficult to respond as quickly as they might like. Also, we have just started the high season - I can't even get a hold of my gfriends for cup of coffee everybody is soooooo busy!! Vallarta becomes a madhouse at the start of November and that lasts until June. If you are Type A personality and just going with the flow and how it ends up is how it ends up isn't your "thing" , I highly recommend you consider hiring an outside coordinator to deal with all the crossing of the t's and dotting of the i's - OR you consider doing a villa event.
  19. Well, to the bride who requested this color combination here it is! It was quite the challenge - it's not a real popular color combination, so I had to use my imagination and beg the rest of you to do it as well - never hurt anybody!! I think, done correctly, this color palette could be quite beautiful and I'm excited to see what you end-up doing :). Enjoy!! Mishka Designs' Blog: B-Limey, Reds and Chocolate Brown!
  20. Felicidades (on both the baby and the wedding!) and welcome to the forum!!
