  8. Hey gals! I just wanted to share a new place I heart! I'll take some pictures soon so you can see what I mean... A new restaurant just opened across the street from me called "Te Limon" - they've decorated it in a rustic/hacienda sortof way and the food is YUMMYY and not too $$. My favorite (so far) is their tortilla soup (I'm super picky about this as it's one of my favs) and their Tampiquena platter which comes with a chile relleno (to die for - seriously), enchilada (also yummy!) and the tenderest piece of beef with side of rice and cactus. Just to give you an idea of price, the soup is $45 pesos (about $4.50 usd) and the Tampiquena platter $115 pesos (about $11.50 usd). The only drawback I see to eating dinner there is they only serve wine and I'm a Corona girl - but they said, for an event, they would serve whatever kind of alcohol you would like at the event. The restaurant is located at the corner of Ecuador and San Salvador in the 5 de Diciembre area - exactly 5 blocks up from Buena Aventura/Villa Premiere. Now, it's not on the beach and doesn't have a view - but, if you wanted your guests to have a very real upscale Mexican experience, this little restaurant is a little gem. And, nope, they have not a clue I'm writing about them and, nope, I never ever get anything from anyone when I recommend something - I gotta like it is all :).

My fiance and I are trying to plan a Catholic ceremony in PV. We spoke with Our Lady of Guadalupe and they have availabilty on our date, June 6, 2009, but at noon---has anyone ever been to a noon wedding? If so- what kind of reception followed? I had envisioned more of a big dinner and dance until the wee hours of the morning! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Has anyone married in another Catholic Church in PV? Is so- was it possible to have a bilingual ceremony (his family is Spanish speaking and mine is English), and do you know where I could find some pictures of different churches. We've had a couple of earlier weddings. What we've done is simply set the reception date later in the afternoon - so all the guests come to the church wedding and, then, the reception starts around 6 or so - giving the guests time to go home, rest up and get ready to party . I don't have photos of the churches, but your coordinator should be able to help you with other alternative churches - besides the one in the Marina, there are a couple other churches which might have your date available with a better time.

Any advice? Yes, my advice is don't tell your parents!! All kidding aside, listen, I've said it once and I imagine I will say it oodles more times with new brides - the only way to be legally married here is with a judge and the judges aren't all that romantic - here is it 150% common for someone to get civilly married with no one there but their spouse and, then, to have a big ole church wedding some time when they can afford it. I completely understand, however, wanting everything to be on the same day - I wanted that too. But, we had a small, intimate civil ceremony in the States and then we had a big ole shebang a year to the day later in Mexico City - and nobody batted an eyelid or thought one was any less important than the other :). What is a wedding anyway? It's two people publically announcing that they are choosing to be together. All the rest of the stuff (all the legal paperwork blah blah blah) came later.

Have you seen any down there Mishka So my back up plan is to do post cards and mail them back to us so we get them when we get home... or just bring them home. Not sure. Since I am making a coffeetable book with my wedding photos, Im playing with the idea of scanning in the postcards and putting them into the book as background, or here and there. Fun ideas you guys!! K8, nope - I haven't seen a Vallarta coffee table book - but it sure is a good idea, isn't it? Another thing I just thought of, if you are the artsy type, is to look at sites like Welcome to Scrapblog! - Online Scrapbooks and Zazzle | Custom T-Shirts, Posters, Art and more... and Shutterfly | Develop, Print & Share Digital Photos: Create Photo Gifts Online - all 3 of those sites have some cool books and postcards (and zazzle has a million and one things you can customize yourself) - I've used zazzle before for postage - I think it would be fun for wedding postage - anyway.... just some more idears :).
  12. Don't know if this helps, but I just had a gfriend stay there for a vacation/visit. I thought the room was nice - not super glam or anything, but clean and airy with lots of light. She was happy with her stay there, so I figured that was a plus . One thing you should know is that resort typically has a lot of kids - when my gfriend was there, it was fairly empty, so maybe it won't be very crowded for you. I'm not saying that's a bad thing - but it can be a noisy thing ). One other thing (I promise I AM NOT trying to scare you away!), the beach isn't the nicest beach - it's a rocky beach. The nicest beach in PV would be some place either in the Marina or, quite honestly, on the southern end of town (which is also known as the alternative end of town) at Playa de Los Muertos. But if you don't care too much about the beach, and are more into the pool, well, they have a very nice pool :).
  13. Girls, I'm so sorry I haven't been online! I was sooo busy during the holidays and then my computer got a nasty virus and I was trying to work work work around it ... have some fun projects we've been working on to show you, but later . The first 2009 blog is up - on alternatives to guest books ... any ideas you have that I didn't post, share share! Mishka Designs' Blog: Sign on the dotted line...

Where do you obtain the writing for the ceremony?? yes, basically - I think it really depends on how you and your family feel re: that idea and how you would like your ceremony performed. There are a lot of websites with different vows and ceremonies that your friend (or you ) can find to put together your ceremony - just do a search on any of the search engines :).

  19. Felicidades and welcome to the forum!! Don't be frustrated! It will all work itself out - you're very smart - not only is September the rainiest month but it's one of our hottest! So, switching to October (especially late October) is a much better idea :).
