I completely agree with Erin... You may not have the guest turnout that you may otherwise have had if you had given a lot of notice. Having said that, be prepared... you may have some backlash from friends and family regarding the no-notice.... and you'll get a lot of the "I would have went had I been given time to save"... etc.... Happy Planning.

Decor Idea - Flower Monogram
Amarillis replied to Myda77's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Awesome Idea!!!! I do have one tip though.... do not use a high heat glue gun on artificial flowers - use a cool temp glue gun... otherwise you'll melt the flowers. great DIY! -

RESORT BOOKED: Barcelo Marina Palace - Varadero, Cuba
Amarillis replied to Amarillis's topic in Cuba Weddings
Hey Girls!!!! I am back from my wedding and it was amazing... in my siggy below you can see the non-pro pics!!!! I am still working on my review.... It'll be lengthy! The resort was amazing and I cannot say enough good things about my experience!!! The price was fantastic for our guests (@$1100 +tx) during a really desirable window of time to be going there. The price definately lent to the fact that we had 84 people at our wedding. It was amazing... More to come!!! -
I picked - What A Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong... we had our father/daughter and mother/son dance at the same time... I really liked this song choice because it is a relatively short song (timewise) and it worked to do the dual dance thing.

At the reception the bottom of it was left dirty and dingy... the pool really cleaned it up!

Thanks for all the compliments girls.... I think (read hope) that my SIL has video footage of our dance... we did hire the resort videographer, but she didn't come to the reception at all (more of that in my review). The convertibles were a complete surprise - even to us - our dear Cuban friend Roly (Varadero Photographer and Ex-Manager of the old cars) totally hooked us up... apparantly this was the first time EVER that all 6 of the Cadillac's were lined up. The main reason this had never happened was due to one or more of them being broken down. That was definately a night to remember.... and it was DH's 30th B-day!

The wedding party returned to the beach after the cake and champagne There is a large lighthouse structure on the resort, the bride and groom climbed to the top to have this photo opportunity Reception We ROCKED the reception, with our choreographed version of Come Fly With Me, Michael Buble As the song Another One Bites the Dust played, the groom found the garter! As the song Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend played, the entire group of women took to the floor to catch the toss bouquet The following day after the trash the dress session we jumped in the pool – the ulterior motive was to shake the sand out of my dress… tee hee hee…. There are definitely many more pictures to come when I get my pro-pics…..

… caught kissing… this was an add in… at the end of the ceremony Megan handed everyone a small seashell and asked them to head to the ocean and toss the seashell, while making a wish for the bride and groom Cake and Champagne – at the theatre/beach bar – this was a great location to have the cake as it was both indoors and outdoors at the same time. Cheers! Cigars were provided to all the guests as a fun Cuban extra CAKE!!! – We had the cake immediately after the wedding, this was great because ALL of the cake was eaten… it also tasted fantastic!

Am I overthinking things???

Try asking his opinion on something and see how it goes (for example, get something on your list of things to organize down to two choices, and tell him you can't make up your mind and want his input). Generally I find my fiance is better for validating my choices than he is for making them. I figure out what I think I want, and then say "I'm thinking of doing this...what do you think?" The only thing he's majorly helped with is choosing songs, b/c I don't want to pick music he hates. I think most guys just want to get married. Really, the wedding itself is always more about the bride (girls usually spend forever obsessing over the dress...guys often just go rent a tux). I think it's worth getting mad if he's not willing to give any input when you ask him about something specific, but I doubt he's going to get really into planning, and that's not necessarily a bad thing b/c if it's not his thing, he would probably be bad at it. Just think about the girl to guy ratio on this forum, and it should give you a good indication of how into wedding planning men are! If it bothers you still, talk to him about it, and you'll probably find that he does care about the wedding, but that marrying you is the only important detail (and is he wrong? I think us girls get a little too caught up in little things that don't really matter). BINZER!!! Well Said! I totally agree with all of it! My DH was really interested in - music - rings - food other than that, I was left to my own devices, and sought approval of my plans from him... i.e. I like this (flowers, ceremony set up, travel mugs, etc.) and he would simply agree that he liked it too. You really don't want a groom-zilla on your hands - that leaves you quite vulnerable to not getting what you want. This is your day! As much as people say 'our' day... it really is the bride's day. You shouldn't over-react, he is simply opening the doors to your own creative license for the day of your wedding! Happy Planning! -
How soon after your wedding did you get pregnant?
Amarillis replied to August2010Bride's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
I am nearing the 30 mark, and DH just turned 30... we want to start a family, but think that waiting till the fall of 09 to revisit the concept is a good plan. We hope to have small socks as Christmas presents for all of our family. -
I got mine done through shutterfly and was happy with it! It was definately inexpensive... under $40
