  4. Welcome Heather, I too saw your article and am thrilled that things are working out for you. As Seaprincess (Lindsay) said, a vow renewal may be in your future!
  5. WEAR YOUR REAL DRESS FOR THE TTD.... my dress was made of french silk taffeta - and was more clean after my TTD ! and as others have said... a drycleaner can work magic when you get home... Speaking of that... GO ON... ENJOY YOUR TIME ON HOLIDAYS!!!! Congratulations!
  6. So, in searching the internet I have found... a video of a wedding at the Paradisus Dailymotion - Wedding video in Costa Rica, Paradisus Playa Conchal, Guanac - a Family video and it looks like a stunning location!
  7. Heidi... We chose to take a photographer with us, I realize you are working under tight constraints right now... but that is truly the best option. I do have a friend named ROLY in the Varadero area - he is a very good CUBAN photographer, and I have posted much of his work in other threads.... I'll bump them for you if need be...

  9. The license is totally legal in Canada (once you recieve your copy from the consulate in Havana). At this point we have yet to receive ours... I have had no problem thus far in changing my name etc with the temporary one that you leave with.
  10. Wow.. this is a terrible situation to be in. Obviously this day is all about you and your family.... I can believe that the tension between her and your mom is real, and that she is totally disrespectful to your mom (this obvoiusly doesn't make it right). But in going to the wedding, uninvited, this girlfriend of your dad's isn't disrespecting your mom... but rather you. If she is any kind of 'girlfriend' to your dad, I would assume that she would want to start a relationship with you... and respecting you would be the first step... Keep us posted.... and hang in there!
  11. Even though you are losing out the deposit, I am sure you'll be netting it back in the savings from $2K in copyright fees... that is just outrageous!
  12. YAY Jax.... only four days to go!!!! Congrats my dear, I can't wait to see the pics when you return!!!
  13. YAY for teaser pics!!!! Can't wait to see more!!! Congrats Shell!!!
  14. All I have for input is CONGRATS!!! CONGRATS on being pregnant, and expecting your first child CONGRATS on deciding to do a maternity shoot!!! I am sure you'll be stunning. The photographer that did my BD (Toronto Wedding Photographer - Lisa Mark Photography) shoot does maternity, for inspiration check out her site, or others that have went before you - I did that before my BD shoot and my wedding. I just searched for inspiration in other's.... CONGRATS AGAIN!
  15. Wow... definately a small world... I love it when people can make lemonade from lemons!

  18. Here is my advice I have several questions...anyone want to attempt to answer them for me?? 1) If Im planning on a Feb.14 2011 wedding, when should I send out STD's and the invitations? SAVE THE DATES = NOW We had our wedding in late January 2009 and the STD's went out in February of 2008 to give guests the heads up that we were going INVITES = once you have secured a location and a travel agent and information to provide to your guests - check out my planning thread to see my invites and save the dates 2)I wanted to put the destination on the STD (which hopefully is Mexico-but who knows now with this virus there...) what if I change my mind...? We knew we were doing Cuba, but the month of departure changed from when we sent our save the dates to when the actual invites went out... that is ok, you need not tell guests where... but rather just the heads up that you are going away and to start saving now. 3)The travel agent that My fiance and I spoke to said that we would need a group # in order to even discuss destiantions or resorts.... This is BS... sorry that was harsh. You need to have a general idea, you probably know your base #, of family and wedding party, everyone else is gravy and your TA should be understanding. Otherwise find a new TA. 4) have had one person tell me that I should book 6-8 months before wedding date, other people 14 months in advance...?? Start looking now, find the best deal, and find a TA you can trust. I don't believe it is ever too late, but rather be sure that the rates that the TA quotes are "Contracted' and you should be good to go Happy planning, I hope this helped.
