As everyone else said already.. DO NOT SIGN that bogus new contract. If you and FI signed the old one already-then it is binding. Unless there is fine print that says that prices can change without notice then him doing this one month before the wedding is absurd and rediculous. I'm so sorry that this is happening to you! I htink that owner may be bluffing becuase for $1400 he may lose the entire thing. I think people know that sometimes as a young couple you will " do anything" to make the day work. Stick to your guns!

Hi Becks, Wow it sounds like you were really pleased with everything. Your hair looks great! I am going for my 1st visit in June and I can't imagine that I will be disappointed. I read some bad reviews on trip advisor which got me a little nervous but I sort of feel like sometimes those are not accurate. Are you doing your reception dinner in L'hermitage? I read that in a past post. If so, are you doing one of the meal packages that is like $70pp? I'm just wondering how it works if you use a restaurant as opposed to the "imperial seating" situation on the terrace or beach. I'm happy and excited for you!

Can I join? I read the book a while ago though.. so it's not super fresh in my mind but I remember loving it. I agree that Norah needed to be slapped silly in the beginning of the book. I mean mourning the loss of a child must be incredibly difficult BUT... she completely lost touch with David and the affairs were never right to begin with. I actually felt bad for him. Having said that- I also can't believe that he gave away the baby!!!! Two wrongs still don't make a right and the non-closure ending of the book was hard for me to deal with.

Danielle- yes it was the quote for Paradisus RM. I still have to see it but it has most everything I want in one place. It seems like the right vibe. Oh what do I know! I haven't even seen the place. ( can you tell i am driving myself slightly nuts?)

So after a few suggestions I decided to "poll" my nearest and dearest which includes my sis who is a peace corps volunteer right now in Nicaragua. I mention this because the value of money has really changed for her and I mentioned what the quotes would be for 4 nts air/land etc expecting her to say WHAT?!! But she thought that wasn't that bad. (yay) * I also don't think she knows that we are paying for her because she is my MOH.. I also asked 2 other very dear people in my life and they also agreed that they would eat and drink enough to make SURE it was worth it. ha ha. In the end I have decided that we will go with gut instinct on what we see when we get there June 5th for a visit. I have loved all your input. It has been really helpful. I even made my dear love read some of them and he read the post where I said he was (annoying) for shooting down my dreams tulum idea... Thanks again

I am so sorry for your loss. Be easy on yourself and mourn the loss of your dad. Do what you need to do to take care of yourself and know that the wedding planning will all fall into place.

I am also a Memorial Day weekend 2009 bride. (Not that I have confirmed a place yet!!) I think that for the most part people will appreciate the extra day off. Good luck with the planning!

I have my visit on June 5th and hopefully i will love it in person as much as I love it online. Have you checked it out yet?

LC Rachel- you had your wedding at Las Caletas and I saw some pics. (gorgeous!!) The accomodations where somehwere else though right? Curious. That place looks great. CoquetayLoca- Yes Dreams tulum was looking good until FI decided that he didn't want people to travel 1 1/2 hr from CUN. (annoying) I love the quaint look of it and I am still interested but.... We had a big discussion about that last night. That rate though!!! Where the heck did you find that? Are you with a TA? You really can't beat that. As far as mem day weekend timeframe I think that is considered "off season" and will be an amazing celebration becuase I will be done with Graduate school!! I am forecasting some sort of breakdown as I try to finish my thesis before my wedding. So basically, I still have my appointment with the paradisus and am now even thinking about doing the wedding off site after seeing someone post about Ajua weddings. (aye, aye, aye!) This is insane!

I agree with everything you are all saying. Thank you! I just needed validation I guess. You guys basically told me what my therapist told me today. (think of the people that you REALLY want there and what you REALLY want.) This was helpful. Now I just need to decide!!!
