I read in one of the reviews, that the flowers for the altar can be used for the reception. I'm pretty sure if you tell your WC they can accommodate this based on other reviews. We wanted to make sure we stayed at Moon Palace until Saturday because most of our guests will be flying out that day. We had a family friend who is a member of the palace resorts, and has let us use their membership to book all of our guests. So far, I think we have about 40 guests that are confirmed to come. It's so exciting! What about you? When do you fly in? And how many guests? So you do have a wedding coordinator assigned already? I've been asking Marlyn for one, and should be getting one pretty quick - in three days, it will be exactly three months until our wedding days! I can't decide what to do with the music. We're bringing a CD for the ceremony, but for the private reception, I haven't decided. I had thought that we'd just go with our Ipod, but I do want some control over the lighting - has anyone had experience with this? I saw someone quote earlier that you can buy the lighting separately from the DJ, but I don't want it to be a lot of work if we do it ourselves. Have most of your guests paid for their trip already? We are in Calgary, in Canada, and I'm PANICKING over the Canadian dollar and the exchange rate! We are booked to pay in US funds, and our trip is getting more expensive every day! I just feel bad about our guests because it was already a lot of money to be asking them to spend, and most of them have only put down their initial deposits. Yikes. What are you doing for decorations in the chapel/gazebo (whichever you go with)? I was actually wondering if we could purchased flowers for the gazebo, if those same flowers could be used for the centerpieces on our tables later that night, for our private reception? Has anyone tried that?

I have asked my WC about package #3 in terms of the lights, I will let you know what she says, but I do remember from other brides saying that the lights are not included with the IPOD.....but will post the answer here when I get it. I submitted my request for Chapel Garden and it was already taken, so we opted for our second choice which is Terrace Venado. It was available so we booked it. I too was concerned about the grass but then I remembered my sister's wedding and how everyone was spilling drinks on the dance floor and everyone was slipping around and falling (my sister-in-law actually fell so hard that she went to the ER that night) and realized that maybe grass is a safer option! LOL. 2. Yes. This was a personal requirement from me as I did not want guests running around the resort, etc. Below is a summary of our day. 6pm: ceremony at Chapel Gazebo 7pm: cocktail hour at Terrace Venado 8pm-10pm: dinner and dancing at Terrace Venado 10pm+: disco/nightclub or another bar on the resort 3. I found out that lighting does come with the DJ packages (1 and 2) but I was not able to get verification if lights come with the iPod packages (3 and 4). If I have the opportunity to ask my WC, I will. As for the iPod hook-ups, I am assuming that the "mixer" my WC speaks of is something similar to a regular stereo receiver. I had to buy a cord in order to hook my iPod up to the stereo receiver up at home and it was about $5 at Best Buy. The cord plugs into the headphones jack on the iPod and then hooks into the receiver. I would recommend a trip to Best Buy to pick one of those up, you can always return it. They may also have these cords at the resort. Sorry I can't provide much more information on this. One last thing I learned was in regard to the private function automatic backup sites in the case of bad weather. I had asked my WC if it was true that they automatically book a backup site for private functions in the case of bad weather and her response wasn't clear. I asked her to clarify this and she said that the backup sites for outdoor private functions are in the ballrooms (not in the restaurants).

SORRRY I have been MIA. I have been working a lot!, but I am happy to see more brides in the forum!!! Anyway, for photographers, I liked Elizabeth Medina, Del Sol Photography, Juan Carlos Tapia (these are all 4k or more). Something more affordable would be Lydia, and she is probably available Lidya Solemidt You can also check cecilia dumas, I liked her pictures, but I don't think she ever e-mailed me with a price quote (but I know it is not that expensive as the first ones I mentioned). Since you are paying for a room, you can get someone from back home that is interested in going to Cancun, and you guys can work an agreement where they pay the flight, or you pay them less since you are paying for room (I had many people interested in doing this).

Dez I am so excited for you. I would like to ask you for a small favor, if you happen to be near Terrace Venado can you take good pictures of it (I saw the pictures you posted earlier, but I would like to see more) for me? I am asking because my coordinator told me that that was the only area available for me for BOTH the cocktail hour and reception. So, now I really need to look into this. Also she said my beach wedding will be near the tucan beach side, can you take a picture of that too IF you happen to be near there.... Thanks a bunch!!!

Katt, Nice to chat with you too. The terrace is limited to 10pm. But you can go to the club after... OR you can have it in the ballroom if you really want to have your reception go late. Yeah I really liked Andrea's wedding (12.29.07), that is what made me lean towards a ceremony and reception outside instead of a gazebo. If you book 30 rooms, you get unlimited private functions, the key word is "BOOK" which none of my guests have... so I may be lucky if I get ten rooms booked at this point. As far as the centerpieces, I don't know all the costs, but I am getting fresh flower center pieces from the hotel.

Thank's kat Oh P.S Is it really a time limit on terrace. Hey Katt, I am getting married in April 11, 2009 and I am doing the 30 room deal, but nobody has booked their rooms yet! I don't know about how much the slideshow cost, but it is a great idea, I have seen it in other weddings and it looks sooo cute!

Hey Marie, My wedding is at 5pm, and I am bringing my own photographer so I can take pictures before and after. I think that if your wedding is at 6pm, you can take pictures before (I heard you can upgrade your package and have the resort photographer take those pictures, but I don't know, you should ask). I would probably change the wedding to 4pm... (although it would be hotter) just to be on the safe side in terms of getting more light for your pictures and make sure you get all the shots you want. But that is coming from someone that cares a lot about the pictures. As far as the carpet, I read reviews that it can get very windy at the Moon Palace, so you have to bring a carpet that is heavy because I read some reviews where a girl took a linen carpet and even when they put flowers and mariachis on the carpet, the carpet would still move.

Thank you for your review!!! I am sorry to hear about the check-in experience...I have reserved my rooms at Nizuc because I didn't know about the Moon side, I would like to change the location, but I don't want to have all the check-in problems. I am glad you had a great wedding!!! Can't wait to see your pictures

Hey Marie, WELCOME to the thread! My wedding is also in April 2009, right after yours. My ceremony will start at 5pm. You can request to change the time... and you can also request a Gazebo of your preference once they assign you a wedding coordinator. Some people have been able to get their locations locked in way before the 3 months before the wedding date, I have tried that and so far no luck. Anyway, there is a map of the resort on the palace website so you can see where all the gazebos are to get a better idea of which one you would like. The catholic one is the one next to a pond, it is supposed to be the nicest one per my conversation with the wedding people in Mexico. (note that the catholic gazebo entrance has spanish words right in front) I have opted out of the gazebo for a beach wedding because I want to have my own set up that I like... ALSO note that the red carpet can be removed from the gazebo, I have seen some pictures that show no red carpet (just the floor color). I called requesting a white one, and they told me I would have to bring my own. When I asked for the length they didn't know and never got back to me about it. As far as people not being able to make the wedding, that is very normal for a destination wedding. My take on it is that similar to yours, I am on a budget and this is what worked out the best for me. I have had SEVERAL people complain about prices relating to the hotel and airfare, the truth is you can't please everyone and trying to will drive you crazy. I also opted for the symbolic ceremony because I don't want the hassle of witnesses, blood drawn etc etc Anyway, hope this helps! Rosie

She has been doing great and we even had a chance to speak to her by phone this past week. I want to chime in on a few things..... Regarding flights and guests talking about how much it costs..... Don't worry about it. We just told our invitees where it was and before we knew it we had about 35 people confirmed. If they want to go, they will make it happen. Also, if Mexicana or AeroMexico airlines fly from your cities,go to their websites directly and early on to book. Each airline has special rates only available online. As an example, 13 of our guests were able to book from San Francisco to Cancun for only $220 each. The rest only paid $305 each. Right now, airfare is going for about $700. Now a question for the recent brides.... We are getting married at the Bugambilia gazebo and having the reception at the bugamvilia terrace. Cant really say we visited this place on our site visit. Can anyone shed some light on what this place looks like? The WC has told us we can change the location when we get there if we want to. I guess there is only one other wedding that day. We leave in less then two weeks.....the jitters are starting to settle in. Lorena Thanks for the info on the flights! So as far as the bugambilia gazebo and terrace information, one of the brides on this forum (pookie) got married there and has a review on this forum, the thread is called Pookie's Moon Palace Wedding Review *Long W/ Pictures* you can search it by using the search option found above near the log out button. hope that helps

I just contacted them and hopefully they will reserve my locations. It is pretty messed up that they have not taken care of these details by sending me any forms or that the new person has not contacted me yet. Hopefully I get the forms this week so I can reserve everything. Thanks for the information!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
