  1. I just received info from a WC yesterday and they said that my photographer would be allowed, but it would cost an extra $100. This is technically to cover a day pass. I am hiring Cecilia Dumas and I know that she has recently photographed weddings there, as soon as this past May. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
  2. Thank you your review. Did you have to use certain photographers or do you have the freedom to choose whoever you want without getting charged a $500 fee? Also, how were the rooms and the bathrooms? Are they outdated or a little on the small side? Did you pay extra for the reception dinner or were you allowed to have a semi-private dinner in one of the restaurants without getting charged extra? I have so many questions because I am still trying to decide on a resort. I was originally going to have it at Dreams Puerto Aventuras, but now I'm hearing that you can't use a mexican photographer at all, which I think is outrageous.
  3. I'm a fan of "I'll Be" by Edwin McCain and "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls, but I'm still undecided.
  4. My parents have always LOVED the idea of a DW. They have been so pleased with the decision that they are giving my FH and I a considerable amount of money to pay for wedding costs. They are being more than generous and I couldn't ask for anything more. Now my future in laws are a different story, especially my FMIL. She's the the sweetest lady, but the things she's saying about our DW is a annoying. She's very reluctant to go and get passports and suggests we just get married in the US as opposed to Mexico. We would never change our minds just because his family would rather have it in the US. My FH was talking about our wedding this week and she asked if it was possible to drive their RV to Mexico for the wedding. Hilarious!! Newsflash. You still need a passport. I know they will suck it up and just do what it takes to attend our wedding in the end. I'm fortunate to have a fiance who is exactly on the the same page as I am. I know that his parents will not have any persuasion value on him. I just don't know what more his mom is going to suggest to get out of traveling to Mexico for our wedding. It will be difficult for her to top the RV thing.
  5. I plan on having a reception back at home after the wedding. I would like to celebrate with my friends and family who were not able to make it to my DW. I am going to have the reception at a nice hall, but my question is, is it tacky to wear my wedding dress to the reception a month after I was married? To wear the dress or not to wear the dress? Help me out and give me your opinion. Please!!
  6. I am not having a wedding party either, but I did ask my only sister to be my maid of honor. I know how that kind of thing can be very important for sisters. I am going to have her choose her own dress to wear and not have anything formal for her to fork over money to buy.
  7. I am still looking for a resort as well, but I do not have it narrowed down to a couple like you do. I was also considering Riu Palace Las Americas. I read a review tonight on tripadvisor.com and she was just married there last week. She had nothing but great things to say about the resort and her wedding ceremony. I did write her a personal message with some questions I wanted to ask about the small details of her wedding. You should check out her review. All I remember is that she is from Dallas, TX. Leah
  8. I feel the same way about my wedding being so far away. Mine will be late next year. I heard from others that all the planning makes the time fly by! Welcome. Leah
  9. I have a friend that just stayed there this winter with his girlfriend and he said that it wasn't that great. He said that it is a cheaper resort and you basically get what you pay for. I don't think that he'd ever stay there again.
  10. Hi everyone! I'm Leah and I got engaged in Cozumel on April 6th this year. My fiance proposed to me on the beach at sunset. How perfect is that?! We want to get married in Riviera Maya sometime in Sept. 2009. Our tenative date is 9/10/09. I have been reading this forum for a while and I have a few resorts picked out for our wedding: Dreams Tulum, one of the Riu resorts, or Dreams Puerto Aventuras, when it opens. I have been reading the Dreams resorts website and they are apparently completely redoing the Sunscape Puerto Aventuras to be a new Dreams resort, set to open next year. I also read that there is also a new Dreams being built near Cancun set to open late this year. I just plan on reading up on those resorts from TripAdvisor and from this forum. If anyone has any strong suggestions about my choices so far, please share them with me. Also, please share your experiences about the resorts that you love!
