I guess FI and I are in the "old fashioned" club too. We both want to get married first. BUT, if we were to get pregnant (not really possible now b/c of on bc) I think we'd both be so ecstatic that it would be fine. BTW, congrats, Martha, on your pregnancy! I love the way you say that nothing else matters because you are over the moon with it. I think I'd be the same way, were it to happen. I wanted to have kids before 30, but this year has come and gone! LOL! We plan on starting to try seriously... (ha ha!) right before the wedding.

That is just completely insane. I fully expect that we'll tack on extra stuff when we get there and see the pics, but seriously. THey should be able to send you a document with most of the options and estimates of costs. Totally unacceptable! I'd be furious too. In fact, I'm furious for you right now! Good luck!

What a sweetheart he is! He kind of reminds me of my dog, Cub who is a bichon, but he definitely looks like he has Schnauzer in him. Adorable! He is probably a fuzzball when he's not groomed.

That is such devastating news. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss and hope that your FI has great support in you so that you can support his BF's grieving family. So sad

To give you an idea of cost: my WC had booked a photographer through her who was going to charge us $450 for 2 hrs of coverage and just the pics on a CD, unedited. I realized that I really wanted to feel more comfortable - I saw his site and didn't like the pics at all. If you're spending money anyway, you should really be happy with what you're booking. Our range was under $1000. I was trying to get something for $900. I managed to get 3.5 hrs of coverage for $950 with some prints and a CD of our selected images from Vanessa Vargas. I had a look at her website and liked what I saw. I also really loved Cecilia Dumas and she was in our range, but we had some communication troubles and I just wanted to get it all booked and out of the way. Honestly, if I had the $4000 sitting around I'd go that route. I really think photography is worth it, but we just don't. Good luck!

But I also understand why sometimes people are in a rush to get married and just can't wait for everyone else's lives to start their own. Maybe she feels that she has to do it quickly, because if she doesn't do it in the earlier fall, then it's too close to your wedding and then if she has to skirt around your wedding she'd be looking at getting married in summer 2009. If it were me, I could NEVER wait that long. It kind of happened that way for us. FI's brother and gf got engaged way before us and their wedding is October 25th. We got engaged March 1 and our wedding is December 12. We could have gotten married rightaway in the summer or in the new year or waited til summer in Ottawa (there was no way i could do it in the winter here)... So maybe it's a timing thing for her? Hopefully this won't make her completely unhelpful to you. Hopefully you two can work together on your wedding plans. Maybe it'll be fun? Good luck!

This is such a fun thread for me, because I make jewelry myself and am planning on setting up a store on Etsy I love looking at the creative pieces other girls/guys come up with and the way they display their pieces. Bring on more stores! I'm not that familiar with the site and it just seems so huge I wonder how sellers distinguish their products? There seem to be SO many jewelry vendors on Etsy.

Carla: Thanks for all these other suggestions! It looks like I have a lot of trial versions of software to try out this upcoming weekend! I'm excited to see what all these things can do. And even happier that there are some free programs out there that I may be able to play with to start with. Thanks to everyone else for the feedback. Yippee! If I come up with anything fun, I'll be sure to post. Btw: I cannot believe you can untuck someone's shirt in Photoshop. That is AMAZING. And also kind of funny

I may end up getting a reception dress and using it, or using my original dress, or not doing one at all. I'm right there with you, IslamoradaBride. I love the pics I've seen, I'm sure it would be hilariously fun and we'd giggle and have the greatest time. My problem is time and budget. And I don't know how my FI feels about it. I think (I know!) he's already a bit worried that the price of the wedding has already gone up by about $2,000 in the past month and we still have 6 more months to go and some of that was photography. Good photographs are really worth it to me though. I've always been into photography though... Ugh. i just don't know

HELP - What to do after the wedding?
kevsgirl replied to Becksy's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
Could you have a beautiful lunch and cut the cake and dance after lunch? And then change and have a fun night out afterward? Or is that too weird? -
Few pro pics

Gorgeous pics, Corina! Congratulations on becoming a Mrs.! I love the pic of the two of you with your heads together in the grass. It's so romantic. I love the TTD pics too - had already seen them and loved them, but didn't realize it was you in them! -
Welcome from another Ottawa-area b2b! This is a question we still haven't really tackled yet. We had a great (we thought) agent, but she's been difficult to reach lately. Have you been anywhere recently where you used an agent? We have had good luck with the Flight Centre at Place d'Orleans in the past. They are very knowledgeable there. Andrea

I am always wanting to take up every kind of craft I see. For some reason, computer image stuff makes me worry! I think I'll try that one you suggest. I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun. And thanks to you (and some of the other girls), there are so many fun projects and instructions on this site, I'm sure I'll be able to test out a few projects. Thanks again! A

Welcome! I'm sure we all are a bit partial to our own wedding resorts, but I'll let you know about mine  I'm getting married at the Shangri-La Caribe. It's gorgeous (if I do say so myself!). It's not an all-inclusive - it includes breakfast and dinners, which was great for us because we're always on the move during the days. There are so many different accomodations, but at the same time it's not too big. It's very cozy looking. The WC is awesome. Her name is Christine and she's been incredible in terms of creating a wedding package that suited us perfectly and is always really quick to respond to all emails. The only trouble is that they don't do all inclusive flights + hotel packages. But we don't care! Here's the website and where you get more detailed info on availability. Good luck!

Rachel - your new cut looks SO flattering and sophisticated!!! I actually noticed your avatar on one of the posts/replies and thought how great it looked before I found out you had just cut it! Love the colour too. And it's still long enough to put back, right? Versatile. Woohoo!
-
Congratulations!!! Doesn't it feel awesome? We just firmed things up about 2 weeks ago. It's such a relief!
-
Really nice! Another jealous girl here! We just got our first BBQ... slow and steady, right?

Thanks, Morgan. I was actually looking at some of your DIY wedding details and thinking about if I could go about making my own brochures, monograms, etc. I love photos too, so the obvious solution is for me to get photoshop... Maybe I can see if a friend has it and I can get it for free. $600 is a bit $$$ for me right now I'm fascinated by graphic design. I'd like to play around with images and creating things like invitations, etc. That said, I don't want to shell out lots of dough and find that I am terribel at it!

That is so exciting and such a fun announcement to make at your wedding! Congratulations!!!

Mmmm... I did try it on, but I didn't even THINK to sit down in it! LOL! That's bizarre, but such a good idea. Thanks! I loved it. I tried it on about 6 times the one time I went to the store. I think it was the 2nd dress I tried on and I kept coming back to it, so I know it's the one I want. It's fairly heavy, but very easy to get into. Just a zip up the back and you're good to go. It's also structured enough that I didn't feel that any bulges were showing. LOL! I'm going to go back and try it on soon (in the next month or so) and hopefully order it. I'll let you know if I can sit comfortably in it!
