They are beautiful. I just picked up my dress tonight (finally!) and am in love with mine, but... I really like Sapphire. It's super sexy and glamorous. -

When do you take the tree down? Jan 1 5 . Do you like eggnog? Ewwwww. NO! Way too rich and buttery. I do not eat butter. 6. Favorite gift received as a child? Wind up Pooh my first Christmas. Apparently I went up the next night and tried to hang up my stocking again. LOL! 7. Hardest person to buy for? Dad. He doesn't care - he doesn't even open or use anything I get him 8. Easiest person to buy for? girls 9. Do you have a nativity scene? No 10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail 11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? My dad once gave me skate cards. I'm exhausted. I finally got home tonight at 8pm and the seamstress had called to see if I could come to try on the dress. Of course, I just took right off again for her place. It's WAY better. PHEW! Thank goodness. She fixed up the cups. She fixed up the sides. The cups were very weird and hard to fix. She ended up making a seam to get rid of all the extra material. She needs to reposition the beads along the under bustline to cover the seam. I think it's going to look gorgeous. But man oh man she said agian how if I'd been a real size 14 there would be no problem. WTF?: Shut up! I mean seriously! I know that she basically had to redesign the dress to suit me. You're a seamstress for god's sake! Oh well, it's done. I will probably get to pick it up on Monday. And now I have a shower weekend! Tomorrow's the family one.

Gorgeous dress, but I relaized that I didn't feel princessy enough. I wanted something bigger and poufier. So I found my 2nd dress. Now I'm going to try to sell my 1st dress I wish I'd looked around more. But I'm super happy with my poufy dress!!! -

I loooove them! The double-band combo is fantastic. Can never have too much bling. I like your e-ring band too - very pretty and unique. And those earrings are awesome! I love Swarovski crystals! -
After the wedding then............
kevsgirl replied to Christinamaria22's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
BOOZE IT UP!!! We're having a similar situation, but a bit less time in between. Our wedding is at 3:30, then we're having a cocktail hour by the pool bar where we'll have munchies and drinks from 4-5pm and a mariachi band. 5-7pm is going to be the issue for us. We decided we're going to keep the modified open bar open from 4-10pm. So if people want to just hang by the pool, socialize and drink in the afternoon before dinner they can do that. Otherwise, they can wander back to their rooms, go for a swim, do whatever. I'll be interested to hear what others say though! -
Thanks, ladies!!! I'm still kind of in disbelief. I don't know when it's all gonna sink in. I guess after the DW. We didn't exchange rings and it wasn't in front of people, so... then again, my bosses made me spill the beans to my small team at lunch today - they wanted to give me a gift. It was super cute. So one of my teammates keeps coming by calling me Mrs. LOL! DH (!) took a sick day today, but I worked and then had to pick up my dress. I can't wait til the weekend to spend some time with him. And I've got to get used to printing my new last name (thought technically it won't be until February). Woot!
-
Thanks you guys! I feel like it's a bit surreal. Simistar - congrats! I didn't know you were already legally married. So do you feel like it's really official or do you think the DW will really make it real for you? At work they made me spill the beans (my 2 bosses). They wanted to announce it to our small team while we were out for lunch. So they did and it was fun. I showed some pics and they gave me a present and a card. It was really sweet! I missed hanging with my husband tonight - he took the day off work and then I went to pick up my dress straight from work and it was not fixed. I was kind of horrified - I put it on and there were bumps coming out the sides and the cups were totally not right. The seamsress was pretty upset too. She's super cute, but she kind of pissed me off tonight. She was obviously quite frustrated by the dress and was insinuating/blaming me for picking a dress that didn't do what I wanted it to do... she said that since I wanted it tailored to my hips, and it wasn't supposed to go that way, it made the bumps. Ummm no, it's because it wasn't sewn right. So she fixed that while I waited and let it out a bit so it hung a bit better. But the cups are totally messed up. She came up with a good solution (I think). Now let's pray that it's fixed by next week. She has to cut into under the bust because there's no seam. I'm a little worried... Also, she kept going on about how she had to take all the beads off and then sew them back on. I was like - why didn't you have me come over and try it on before doing that So this time, I made her promise she'd call me to come try it on before going back to sewing everythign back on if it doesn't fit. Blah!

Here we are with our JOP. She was so sweet. She said that she could really feel the love in the room and we were so cute. When she found out we didn't know the girls she was shocked. LOL! Here we are with our posse Two of the girls signed our temporary certificate. DH being DH (!), he suggested I 'throw the bouquet'... so he gave me his boutonniere and I threw it. It was hilarious. The girls were all scrambling. The girl in the middle caught it (Holly). After the wedding (!) we went out for dinner at the restaurant we had our first date at, the Pepper Garden. Had a very nice dinner and complementary champagne too! I'm wearing my rings right now, but tomorrow will have to go in to work and not say anything... it's gonna be hard! But I know we'd just get grief from people if we say that we got married and ddn't invite them... geesh!
-
It was a super small room and the JOP was really nice. It was a pretty quick ceremony - about 10 mins. We didn't exchange rings because we want to save that for the wedding ceremony in Mexico. We started out holding hands, but after about 2 minutes while she was talking, FI kissed me and then pulled me closer, so we spent the whole time holding eachother closely. It was a little awkward, but comforting too. He got a bit teary, but we both maintained composure. I think I smiled the entire time.

We're married!!! FI and I booked this afternoon off to get married at City Hall. We decided it would just be easier getting the legal stuff done here in Canada before going to Mexico. We got there just in time to get the license and book time with a JOP (and find some random strangers for witnesses!)... our ceremony was at 4pm and lasted about 10-15 mins. It was a little stressful going to City Hall - we had to get FI's divorce certificate too as he had misplaced it. By the time we got to the right area for the marriage licenses we were both being funny (ya know when nerves are getting to you? - KWIM?) At one point, FI thought our number was called and rushed up to the desk and the woman says to us "So you're here to pay a parking ticket?" LOL! We were nuts. We wanted this to be a secret, so not even my coworkers know (some are invited to one of my showers) and we couldn't call friends or family to be our witnesses. So we went to the lobby to 'recruit' witnesses. After asking about 2 groups of people, FI noticed a group of younger girls (students) and went over to plead our case. Of course they all thought it was totally romantic and decided to come along for the ride! Without further ado, here are the pics! Here are the girls who were our witnesses! They were all nursing students. Here they are after watching us get married... We got to chat with them while waiting for the JOP to come and take us to the room. They were nice. They were all giggly and super cute about it. Talk about a story to tell for years to come! Here we are waiting for the JOP to be ready and take us to the room: Here's FI's boutonniere that I made before we left... I had bought some supplies to try to make my BMs hair flowers and decided to just test it out with a real flower i had at home. I think it turned out pretty cute!

FI and I just got married!!! We both booked the afternoon off today and went to the courthouse to do our legal ceremony before our 'real' wedding in Mexico. I'm going to go off and post a thread on it right now! I'm married!!! but it's a secret.... LOL!

OMG I love your dress!!! I love poufiness. I'm addicted to it. That's why I ended up getting a 2nd dress... I love my dress, but I could have gone with this one. Must - stop - looking - at - other - dresses!!! Veil: I'd actually go with a shorter veil about the length of the 2nd tier you have on there. A very full one though! Much more fun and sassy. -
