In the end, she's placing a note in my file, but not actually confirming anything. And I still didn't get to discuss the matter with Mario. Hhhmmpphh! Marie - Don't get worried if you can't get them to commit anything now. They are really focused on weddings happening in the next few weeks (which I am very grateful for). I know that as a bride it is VERY difficult to be patient. They will not really work with you an exact details (i.e. photographer assigned) if you are too far out. You are better off making sure that the note is put in your file and then when you get closer, following up on that. I am very grateful that they are paying closer attention to me now that my wedding is around the corner. Everyone is going to get the attention they need before the time comes. This is something that was reiterated over and over again when I met with the weddings department at the Moon during my site visit. This is a well-oiled machine that they have down there. Trust me, it is very frustrating not getting answers ASAP... but I have confidence everything is going to turn out great. Good luck!! Alex

I spoke to Mario (the head of photography) and he has assigned David to my wedding. It seems to me that David's photography style is more romantic and less posed. Wish me luck with my pictures! That is the only concern I have... I leave in a week exactly. I am very excited. I just wish that I could have had more planned beforehand, but communication with the WC has been extremely challenging (to say the least).

One of the few things that have been keeping me up at night has been the quality of pictures. I have wanted to bring an outside photographer, but I couldn't make up my mind. After speaking to the head photography person and seeing some of the samples, I think I am feeling a lot more relaxed about going with a Moon photographer. He basically sent me some samples of their work and told me to pick the pictures that I liked the most and then he would assign that photographer to me. Here are 3 pictures that from the samples he sent me. (I also uploaded a power point file with the rest of the pictures he sent me.) I have had an extremely positive experience with every in the Miami office. My experience with my WC (Nancy) has been the complete opposite! I am down to 3 weeks and I haven't been able to get many of my questions answered. She keeps telling me she is working on Oct. weddings, but my wedding is Nov. 1st. Seems to me she should be working on mine now too! I am trying to not stress out because I know that once I am there, everything is going to turn out fine... BUT it would be nice to get some of the planning out of the way before I get there. Even if you get a WC assigned to you, don't expect them to get back to you quickly. I was barely able to get anything from her when I was more than 3 months out. As soon as I hit my 3 month mark, she did start to communicate more with me. When I've needed to get her to respond ASAP, I have had to CC her boss. The only thing that prevents me from going completely crazy is that I did meet Nancy when I did my site visit and she seemed very professional and 100% on top off the weddings happening at the resort that weekend.

Just to clarify, the "FREE PRIVATE FUNCTION/RECEPTION" is different from the "FREE WEDDING PACKAGE". Basically, everyone can choose the FREE WEDDING PACKAGE. To get a FREE COCKTAIL HOUR, you must (GROUP) book at least 10 rooms. To get a FREE PRIVATE RECEPTION, you must (GROUP) book at least 20 rooms. The rooms MUST be booked as a GROUP through the Palace, so if everyone is doing their separate booking, the rooms do not count as a group. I learned this the hard way because I was technically at 20, but one of my guest booked their room on their own. Now I am thinking of booking a 20th room (3 night min.) myself because if I do the math, I will be saving over $800 since each private funtion table (for 10 people) costs $400. Hope that clarifies things.

Good for you! You look great! You definitely got guts! Regardless, 7 months is a long time! -
Welcome! I am not lying when I tell you this blog has been a life saver! I have learned so much here! Good luck with your planning. I recommend that you read as many reviews as possible and then select your top destination and take a trip there to do some inspections for the resorts you liked. It really helps to know that you have personally seen your final destination yourself. Make sure you take lots of pictures when you are down there because you will forget what you saw!

I am getting married the day after Halloween. I was thinking of asking everyone to bring a costume to change into after our welcome dinner on Halloween day. Our resort is really big and has multiple bars and even a club. Do you all think it is asking for too much? I don't want to over-burden my guests by asking them to bring costumes, but Halloween is one of our favorite days of the year! I wanted to award a prize for the most creative costume too! Maybe a nice bottle of tequila since we will be in Mexico.

RESTAURANTS Does anyone have any recommendations on the restaurants at the resort? I have 40 people and they are telling me that they can only reserve for 35. I was thinking of having them go with 35 and then getting to the restaurant earlier and persuading them to make room for the other 5. I also heard that the Brazilian and seafood restaurants are the best, but wanted to know what everyone else has heard. PHOTOGRAPHER I am about 1 room short of the "free reception" deal, so I am thinking of booking an additional room because it is less expensive to book a room for 3 nights versus pay for the reception (@ $400/table of ten). Now I am thinking I should have gotten a photographer from outside. I know it is VERY short notice, but can anyone give me some names to see if any of them are available? THANKS!!!

Do they serve beer out of a can or bottle? Or are all drinks served in cups?? I've stayed at an AI before (one of which is a Palace resport) and I also visited the Moon Palace... and all these places are notorious for serving drinks in tiny cups. That is why we decided to go with personzalize mugs. We got them from discountmugs.com. It was one of the few places that had small minimum orders and were priced reasonably. From what I remember, beer was not served in bottles, so koozies may not be put to use at the resort. Good luck!
