I'm in NYC and my hair stylist is expensive - $240 for highlights and glaze. I only get it done about once every 3 months or so. I went last week, and tipped $30. I think I usually tip $40, but for some reason on Friday I thought that was a lot. I also tipped the shampoo girl $7. I'm now thinking that I left him too small a tip. I'm curious - how much do you pay your hair stylist, and how much do you tip (both the stylist and shampooer)?

I don't remember what my guests wore to my reception, so I obviously would be fine with it. Whenever I have a doubt about the appropriateness of an outfit, I just end up wearing something else. I don't want to be that person at the wedding who everyone is snickering about. Not that white pants (unless you end up wearing red underwear under them) are snicker-worthy, but you know what I mean!

We did custom photo thank you cards through Shutterfly. On the inside of the card it says, "Thank you from the bottom of our hearts". You can't see it so well on here, but the middle photo has us holding up "Thank You" signs - the same ones as in my sig. We used photos from our ceremony day and our AHR. Usually I really want to get thank you notes out asap, but I think that they ended up being worth the wait. Everyone loved them!

Since I'm not getting married until April, I have decided to do a save the date with her (50 std, addressed envelopes, and monogram stickers) for $115. Then whom ever RSVP by January I will send really cute invites to. Is that bad, to only send invites to those who are def coming? Angie, are you having an rsvp with the STD? STD's don't usually have a rsvp with them, they're usually an announcement about the wedding so people can start planning. But, some people here have included rsvp's with the STD's so they have a sense of #'s. One thing to remember if you do have rsvp's with the STD, some people may decide to attend after they rsvp regrets, so make sure you order more invitations than the # of people who rsvp yes.

Newlywed/illness plateau - need motivation!
frazali replied to frazali's topic in Weight Watchers Forum
Wow, thanks Ayita for all of the information! I had no idea that Boursin lite was so low point. I used to be on the WW boards a lot - and I'm just now getting back on them. Lots of helpful advice, recipes and tips. Your tip about eating a lower point dinner is exactly what I do. I tend to graze throughout the day. I've been eating a lot of Core foods this week, but counting the points. I love seeing all of those green diamonds when I track! I also started weighing everything in grams instead of ounces or measuring spoons. That has helped immensely. I was completely underestimating the points value of items like reduced fat feta that I would put in a measuring spoon. A heaping TBS is not the same as a TBS. Congrats on your 5K - how was it? -
Wow, what a great savings! Glad you asked - and enjoy it!

I agree with starchild. Can you be sure that everyone will be staying at your resort? If you do decide to have people call you to rsvp as well, just make sure that you are working with 1 master list and the rsvp gets ticked off as soon as you receive it. Let us know what you decide!

Thanks guys, for your thoughts and advice. She goes in for the next surgery in a couple of weeks. Get this - this morning I decided to weigh some of my lunch items in grams vs. measuring spoons - and it seems I have been giving less points for some things. This would totally explain the lack of loss. We that coupled with a total lack of exercise. Next on the agenda - get back on the elliptical that's sitting in the living room! -
I have been on WW since 6/24/08 - so just over a year. I have succeeded in losting 40.2 lbs - which I'm psyched about. I want to lose probably about 30 more lbs. We got married in April, honeymooned in Dominican Republic for 2 weeks (all-inclusive - do I even have to mention how scared I was to gain?!). I ended up only gaining 3 lbs, which I was able to take off. Here's where the problem lies. My mom was diagnosed with cancer the day that we left for the honeymoon. She didn't tell us until the weekend we got back from the honeymoon (which happened to be Mother's Day). Since finding out about my mom, dealing with her surgery, and then her being readmitted with pneumonia, I haven't been great with the WW. I have been counting, but eating whatever is there at the moment. I surprisingly have been making good food choices for the most part, but it's hard to find the energy to exercise, which I know is what I need to do in order to lose again. I'm basically maintaining - not gaining, but not losing. So my question is - how do you find the motivation to work the program when "life gets in the way"?
-
Yup, I've been getting them for a while as well. I also have 1 of her cookbooks (although I have yet to try any of the recipes). A lot of her recipes have a ton of processed food in them, but every once in a while I think they'd be okay. I like getting her tips about new products and her "Eat this not that" comparisons.

Hmmm, that's tough. We want to celebrate as much as possible, but it can also be a question of more $$$ and when is "enough enough". I like the idea of informally getting together with friends, as opposed to another "sponsored" event. Whatever you do, it'll be fun - enjoy the company of friends and fam!

I love the bright, tropical colors. Our colors were pink and orange, and the orange invites with pink flowers that Chantelle posted was actually the one that we used!

Are you paying for your bridesmaids dresses?

I gave the dress that I wore to my maid of honor and my other BM was in that wedding too, so she is getting to wear her dress for the 2nd time!!! I bought their shoes and jewelry and am going to pay for our spa treatments the morning of the wedding. My friend is a makeup artist and her gift is to do all of our makeup! (One less expense, I told u guys I was a cheap bride!) I don't think there is anything wrong with paying for your BM's dresses if you have the extra money, but I don't think that most people expect it. I do think that it is a nice gesture in this economy to try to be somewhat conservative and not expect the wedding party to go into debt. Just my opinion.... I agree with Sunstarsmoon - GREAT idea - and really thoughtful for everyone. -

Where is everyone registering?
frazali replied to *Casey*'s topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
We registered at Bed, Bath and Beyond and Macy's. Although, most guests gave cash - definitely welcome! -
which bracelet do you like best??
frazali replied to *Meagan*'s topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I like # 2 because it matches the earrings and it has a delicate quality to it. -

Sheesh, what a jealous loser. Glad that you both are laughing about it!
