To OOT or not to OOT??
EricaG replied to raisinblur's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
We are doing OOT bags but my parents are footing some of the cost for them since they are also paying for the wedding package down there. We will each put a Welcome/Thank You note in the bags. My Mom has decided that she is going to make some beach totes to give to everyone. We are also going to do the travel mugs, but we are going to hand those out right before we leave to those that live in our town, and the rest will be handed out at the airport. The tote bags and other trinkets that we think would be useful will be handed out down there. We have people that have offered up luggage space for our stuff to haul down there as well, so I think we will be alright. Some of the ideas for the OOT bags are: -Immodium -lip balm -bath puff -bath bombs (DIY project) -aloe vera -sticky notes (one per room) -pen (one per room) -tealights -hand sanitizer -and the beach tote my mom is making In the travel mugs we are putting a pack of gum as well. We were going to do luggage tags, but the travel agent we booked through does them for everyone with their name and address on them. -

I was actually feeling bad for her, thinking that she thought she was pregnant but maybe something else is going on instead. Now you got me thinking that maybe she is faking it. But then why would she agree to the blood sample? Hmmm....I guess I will have to wait and find out what comes out of it.

With the price of fuel going up, the cost of the trip will probably go up too. Fuel surcharge! I told everyone to get their deposits in to avoid a possible price hike, but that is now their problem, and they can't complain to me!! LOL

Are any of you doing any DIY things for our wedding?

Congrats and welcome to the forum. It is great here and you will get all the advise you need from the members. As for the bridal party, if you don't want anything big, you could always just have a MOH and a BM stand up for the 2 of you. Good luck with the planning!!!!

We had white envelopes for our invites, so I just used a white label with the same font that I used throughout the invites and the STD. It turned out great, but if I was using coloured envelopes, I probably would have just printed it right onto the envelope. I personally wounldn't spend the extra $ on the calligraphy for the envelope since who keeps the envelope?

Welcome to the forum. It is a great place to find out everything you will want to know, and there are a lot of great people on here. It won't take long until you are addicted!!! LOL. Congrats!

We found my MOH's dress when I tried on dresses for the last time to make up my mind which one I was going to get for sure. My MOH didn't want to try on dresses that day but was ambushed by my Mom and my Aunt. The last dress she tried on was perfect for her, and the only reason that they grabbed that one for her to try on was because it had chiffon and was in her size! My sister is standing up for me as well and she has tried on countless dresses (because she loves trying on clothes) and looks great in everything, although she is not allowed to wear anything with a low neck line, as she is VERY well endowed in the chest, and I told her that if anyone is going to stop and be staring during the wedding, they are going to be staring at me! LOL. Anyway, she has picked out a dress that she wants as well. Now it is just a matter of picking out the dresses for the other 2 BM that I have asked, but we are still waiting to see if they are going to be coming for sure.

HAHAHAHA!!! I was just thinking....could you imagine finding out that somewhere there were a bunch of people you have never met writing things and cutting you down? (not like he doesn't deserve it). I just suddenly thought about how funny that is. He has absolutely no idea, and probably never will know that there were a bunch of women bashing him on the internet that he has never, and will never meet in his life!!!! LOL

So far no one from my FI side have booked, but still plan to come. They still have a few more months, but we also told them in Oct to start saving, but they haven't. Then my FBIL told his 3 kids that they were coming too, but doesn't even have $ for the deposit to save their spot, so I don't know how he is going to pay for all of them to go to the DR. He is also supposed to be a GM!

OMG!!! I am so sorry for you and your family. I am glad to hear that your sister and her husband are okay. Most people wouldn't think that your sister's injuries are 'okay' but she can recover from them, and with the severity of the accident from how you discribed it, they are both lucky to be alive. I hope that this unfortuate situation can help bring your family back together though. I will keep your sister in my prayers through her recovery.

I won't cause a spoiler, but I laughed so hard towards the end of the show in the elavator. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

I think that this is a common problem for many DW's, as I too have similar issues. There are several family members & close friends that we wanted there that have said they will be there, but when it came time to book, they are no longer coming. Oh well. We are from a small town and my FI is related to almost half the town, but we aren't inviting everyone. There are some of my co-workers that would like to come as well, but my Mom points out that we can't shut down the hospital for a week for everyone to come, and we are already short-staffed. Then she informs them that I have invited a couple LPN's and 1 other RN (besides myself and my Mom) that I work with most often, but we will be having the AHR following. There have been a few people that have been verbally invited, and they have even been told that those we really want there were given invites, but if they would like to join, they could. As the flights from here are filling up fast with all the Nov weddings, I want to make sure that everyone we have invited that plan to go are able to go before those that didn't receive an invite.

This thread has been hilarious. From not only stealing points, but others encouraging it, to a sex ring with grandpa's. I was finally going to go to bed, but I think I will have to wait for a little bit longer, as I haven't finished laughing. After the last couple days I have had, I needed to read this thread. Anyone know where there are more threads that are hilarious like this one? I could use them occassionally. LOL

I just noticed the Karma thing a few days ago and was wondering about it. Today I noticed that I have received a karma point!!!! Yeah!!! I was pretty excited. Mine too says that I am on a distiguished road and I was wondering where it might take me one day. Seeing that AnnR has 12 karma points and is still on that road, I realize that I have a long way to go to get anywhere on that road! LOL

I wasn't around for the last one, so I am just curious if someone could let me know exactly how this works? It sounds like it is fun anyway!

I checked out the site and they even have Teal sand!!!! How exciting. I have been looking for bottles for awhile now, and have not found any that weren't going to cost a fortune. It got to the point I was only going to give them to a few special people and everyone else would get a different invite for the AHR. Now I can do them for everyone!!!!! Thanks!!!

You can't ask for gifts back. If you no longer talk to a friend anymore for whatever reason, do you give each other all the gifts back that you ever exchanged? No!!! A gift is a gift. It would be different if he told her he had these great diamond earrings that she could wear sometimes when they went out, but I doubt that was the case. I'm with many others with selling the stuff that she sould get a few bucks for and getting rid of the rest in whatever manner she so chooses. Burn? Break? Give it to the ex? LOL

Do I really need a purse/clutch??
EricaG replied to aeroo's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
This is something that I am wondering about as well. I am sure that my Mom will have a little purse of something with her, so I'll probably just put anything in there. Otherwise we will have the diaper bag with us for our son, and everything can just go in there. -
We are planning to get some insuated mugs with a logo on it for all the guests in their OOT bags, and we were going to ship them down, but with the cost and the chance they may not get there, we decided that we will give them to everyone before we leave. We will give some of them out a few days before we leave, and others at the airport. Each person taking one mug isn't as bad as us hauling them all down. As for decorations down there, we aren't taking that many. The bigger, bulkier things (besides my dress and my daughter's dress) will be the OOT bags and the wedding favors. I haven't decided on the centre pieces for in the DR but they will be something small and easy to pack. I am also waiting to hear back from the WC as to what they have for decorations.
