That is too bad. At least he ws able to end up with caring foster parents that would take notice and do something about it. Sorry for your loss!

Sears - Convertible Dress
EricaG replied to alex's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I was looking at that dress in the catologue as well, but never got around to ordering it yet. That is too bad that it didn't fit. Are you going to reorder a different size? If anyone else one here gets that dress, make sure you let us know. Maybe I will order it and see, but I was hoping to lose so more weight before ordering outfits. -
Congrats on passing your exam. Wedding planning and a big exam....wouldn't want that on my plate! Good luck with the rest of the wedding planning with a lot less stress.

Still Issues with PhotoSouvenir!!!
EricaG replied to LadyCheese's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
That is great news. I am wondering what happened with the wedding that they were supposed to do the other day. Hopefully Ladycheese hears back from Severine soon. TA Dina - Maybe you should forward that email from them to Ladycheese and other Dreams brides that would like to use Photosouviner. The more they have to back up having them, the les chance of having problems! -
Time of day for ceremony
EricaG replied to rubyringo's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
We are having our wedding at about 3pm as well. Then there is no worries about getting the pics done before the sun goes down. -
It is pretty common! Funny thing is, I was intoxicated when I met my FI and was actually playing match maker with him and my friend. (Thankfully that didn't turn out! LOL) I looked at his ID under a street light and could have swore his birthday was Aug 28, but in fact it was Dec 8. After dating for about a month, and thinking he was 20, we were at his cousins wedding and he went up to get a drink. When the bartender jokingly asked him if he was old enough, his mom was standing there and vouched for him saying he was going to be 20 in Dec. I almost choked on my drink. It didn't make mush difference, but still, I was dating someone in their 'teens'! LOL. Once I got over the shock of him being 19 rather than 20, I would bug him about being a teenager. Now he bugs me about being old!

When I enquired about the symbolic ceremony at our resort, I ws given the info and the cost was dramatically lower. It was $520 cheaper and then the added judge fees that we would supposedly have to add on now (recent charge added after the fiasco with fake judges), and I think that is another $300. At our resort they call it a 'Symbolic' ceremony, but rather 'Vow Renewal'. Everything that you get with the (legal) wedding ceremony you also get in the vow renewal, except for the actual judge. When booking our wedding date, this made thing a lot easier as well, since we didn't have to make sure that the judge was free to do our wedding when we wanted it! Now we can also plan our ceremony time rather than waiting to find out when we get there. I know that many people have or will be getting legally married months before the symbolic ceremony, but what is the norm? I was hoping to do it right before we left, like the night before we fly down to DR.

I was just wondering how many brides out there are older than their grooms! I find it interesting that it is occurring more and more. It seemed to be that the men were usually older than the women, but times are a changing. When I first started dating my FI and people would find out about the age difference, there were a lot of people that were surprised. I am 3 years older than my FI. My FBIL #1 is engaged to a woman that is 4 years older than him, FBIL #2 was dating an older woman, but not anymore. FBIL #3 is engaged to a woman that is 3 years older than him, and a very close family friend of my FI's is living CL with a woman that is 3 years older than him (and they have twin boys). FBIL #1 was with an older woman before his current FI as well. I think she had 6 years on him! As you can see this is becoming something of a norm in my life! I always tell people that women live longer than men, so this way I get a few extra years with him!

For the first couple years we were together I was in school 3 hours away, so we had a long distance relationship. On the weekends and holidays I would come home and usually stay with him, but nothing was offical. Then I ended up getting pregnant withour daughter, so we got a place of our own and moved in the day that I started my last year of school. (I got out of having to do the moving!) Besides the situation that got us to move into together, I am glad that we did live together first, as we were both raised very differently, so we each have our little quirks that we had to get used to and still to this day we are. I think for us, if we were able to wait until we were married, that could have made for a stressful beginning to a marriage. I do agree that it depends on the couple, and everyone has to decide for themselves what will work!

How long did you date before enagaged?
EricaG replied to Tamster808's topic in Share your Wedding & Engagement Stories!
We were together for 5 years when we got engaged, and it will be a little more than 6 years by the time we get married. Oh yeah, we also have 2 little ones, Hailey is 3 years and Justin is 10 months. -
I've got the first 3 seasons on DVD already. Hmmm, I think my sister stole the them and still has the 3rd season. Maybe I will start watching them from the start and by the time this season comes out, I can maybe just get it in before next season starts!!! Have you watched it yet Rachel? What did you think?

Okay, so I was waiting until most people were able to see the show before really talking about it, but here I go. I was sooooo excited when Derek and Meredith got back together, and I love the way that he left to make things right first. I love that Cristina listened to what the chief told Erica and is following suit. I can understand a lot more about Alex now that we know about his past with his mother. I am sooo proud of George. He finally was able to stand up for himself, and look where it got him! I almost wonder if the chief was waiting for him to stand up for himself, and prove that he has the confidence to be a great surgeon. Okay, so there were a few of my thoughts of the awesome finale!

It was a great episode and worthy of at least a few days of gossip.

Whenever we have gone on Nov trips to hot spots, we always get a bunch of summer clothes when they start going on sale. Usually the end of July, beginning of Aug.

I am way up here in Canada, so my input won't make much difference here, but one of the things I was looking at when booking was the airlines allowances. It was between AirTransat and Signature. If we booked with Signature, we would be flying on Skyservice which meant that we each got one carry-on (11lbs max). My wedding dress would be considered a carry-on and we wouldn't be allowed a diaper bag for our son (he will be 16 months old, so he flys free). Booking through AirTransat we get one carry-on (11lbs max), my dress is separate but free, diaper bag is free, and you can have a purse and laptop which are free as well. Then for checked baggage, you can also take a bag of sporting goods that doesn't get weighed and is free. In the end we booked with AirTransat, which I was very happy with!

Let's hope that is the case. I totally believe in the 3's.

If I walk in a straight line, my knee isn't too bad. If I sit or stand up, that motion hurts, as does turning on the spot. I still can't walk on my heel, but when FI gets home he is going to look at it to see if he can see any glass in it still. I will survive. Oh yeah, I just started back at work on Sat & Sun, but had to miss Mon & Tues because of my knee. What a way to start work again!!! LOL

I did basic STD's that just stated we were getting married in a tropical location the end of Nov/beginning of Dec. These were sent out the end of Oct, so that anyone wanting to come that would need to save $, had time to do so. I did include a RSVP for the STD so that we would have an idea of how many people would possibly be coming. I made the wedding invites myself as well, so I started on them without having the final details finalized. Once we booked with the TA, I finished off the invites and sent them out. That was the end of March. Since I made the invites myself, I only sent invites to those who said they were coming or they might be coming. The only people that are getting invites even though they said they weren't coming are my Grandparents, and my Aunt's & Uncle's. In the end, just do what you think will work for you and the people that you are inviting.

I am watching it again now!!! LOL

So I get up this morning and I am still hobbling around from a knee injury that I got over the weekend. The kids and I are just hanging out like we normally do in the morning, and then I go to make some food. I step back, feel a sharp pain in my heel and hear a crunching sound. Yup, I stepped on a piece of glass. Not sure where it came from, thankful my daughter didn't step on it, but my foot is bleeding all over the kitchen, and I have a severe throbbing pain! I spent awhile trying to get the glass out, as I think there is still a piece in there, but not positive. Now I am hobbling a lot since my left knee and my right heel are painful. I still can't put any weight on my heel as it hurts really bad and I am convinced that there is still glass in there, that I just can't see. Then my kids were playing in the room this evening and my daughter came out of the room. My son started crying, but before I could pick him up, I had to run to the bathroom. He could see me from the bedroom door, so to try and keep him happy, I kept calling him and telling him to come see me. He is almost 10 months old and has been close to crawling for awhile now, but I haven't encouraged it, as he is going to be VERY busy. Anyway, he got up on his hands and knees and he crawled to the bathroom!!!! My life will never be the same again. After I put him to bed, I decided to check out BDW and my 3 year old daughter crawled up on the back of the couch (which she knows she is not supposed to be there), ran across it and slipped down between the couch and the wall/window frame. Her knee got stuck and I had to move the couch to get her out. I don't think that she will be doing that anytime soon. Hopefully she has learned her lesson! Oh yeah, last night I also burnt the roof of my mouth on pizza, so it is all blistered up now, which has made eating and swallowing to be very uncomfortable!!!
