Travel documents in hand-18 days til ROR
vdambs replied to Marie's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
OMG...I thought it was just me! I'm not glad that you all are feeling the same way but in a way I'm so glad to not be the only one. I feel like there is so much to do and so little time to do it all in that I don't have time to get excited about the fact I'm getting married! However, all the reviews are very reassuring! We had a couple of bumps in the road lately but I just keep reminding my self of the end result. I'm marrying the man of my dreams in an absolutely beautiful location! -

Hello Ladies!!! Congrats, good luck and happy planning to you all! User Name: vdambs Name: Tori & Chris Location: ROR Wedding: May 22, 2010 in JA: 05/19/10 - 05/28/10 -
Hello all, it's been a while sense I last posted on the site. But I'm now about 6 weeks out from my wedding at ROR and haven't heard anything from Chandlyn. I'm starting to get a little worried. Does anyone mind sharing her email address with me? I've tried searching the forum but haven't had any luck. I'm starting to get a little antsy with the fact that our date is creeping up so quickly, I really would like to get in touch with her and from what I understand it sounds like it take her a while to get back to emails. I really appreciate it!

Are you giving gifts or favors to your guests?
vdambs replied to julloy's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I was thinking of doing the OOT bags (with a couple things like sun screen, lip balm, water & candy) and then a little something like the 200ml bottles of Appleton Rum as a favor at the reception. -
RIU Ochi- What to do after dinner?
vdambs replied to Jen2113's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Yup, this is my problem as well! 4pm wedding with about 20 or less people and then what until the reception? I would like for our wedding to stay as traditional as possible given the location but I'm not so sure how to save money and still include all the tradition of dancing, toasting, eating, mingling and all that. Anyone with any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks ladies! -

Hello all. Congratulations and happy planning to you all! User Name:vdambs Names: Tori & Chris Location: RIU Ocho Rios Date: May 22, 2010 -
YEA!!!! Another 2010 bride! I thought maybe I was crazy for getting on here so soon before my wedding! Glade to see I'm not the only one! About booking...I emailed someone at RIU and they told me that if wasn't looking until 2010 (Oct. 2010) I wouldn't be able to book until like April 09. Double check to be sure for yourself...but that's what I got back. Congrats and welcome!!!!

OMG...Beautiful! You did a FANTASTIC job! Can I ask how you got Mammee's set up like that? Did you just specify that the table be set up like that or did you have a friend/family member do that for you? Also did you provide all the white or did the restaurant have all that already? Congrats! -
Off to Jamaica in 3 days...any last requests???

Some of Lizz's non-pro pics
vdambs replied to Spazz's topic in Post your Destination Wedding & Engagement Pictures!
Hi Lizz...Congrats and GREAT pics...I'd love to see more...I'll PM you my email address. Also were did you get you bridesmaid dresses? I'm looking for a style just like that and am having a hard time. -
I'm not sure about having them done before the ceremony but I'm wanting to have mine at 4 pm as well and want to do pics after. Partly because I'm a little superstitious (you know...can't see the Bride before the wedding) and partly because I'm hoping to get some great pics of us at sunset!

Has anyone shipped weddings stuff to ROR?
vdambs replied to para el amore's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
I'm not sure about the shipping part but I think it's about $2 or $3 per bag to have your OOT bags put in the rooms. -

The best set up at the restaurant is the T shape, but with a large group this made speeches even harder to hear for the people at the end of the table. A caution about the T shape - We could only fit 4 across on the top of the t. It would be possible to do 6, but no more than that I wouldn't think So I'm wonder if Mammee's is big enough to include dancing? I can't really tell from all the pics. I'm working with a very "lean" budget and a very small group of people. I don't want to go through the expense of booking the disco and pay for a DJ for such a small group but do want to at least be able to do all the important dances and the most important dance, our 1st dance! Of those of you that have been would this be possible to do at Mammmee's without being too cramped or too annoying to the other patrons?

Small wedding, I mean really small
vdambs replied to Librarychick's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I totally agree with all of you...we are only inviting about 20 and think that only about 10-12 will actually show. I wanted something small as well and new that if we had done our wedding at "home" things would have just snow balled into something I really didn't want after all! -
Hello all...I'm brand new to this site but can already tell I'm going to get so great advice! My fiance and I are looking at having our wedding at the RUI Resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. We aren't looking at holding it until October 2010 but as far as I can tell you have to do some major advanced planning when it comes to having a destination wedding. I've contact the wedding coordinator over there but she's not able to give me any information because we are looking so far in advance. So I'm hoping anyone how had held there weddings there would mind me asking my asking my zillions of questions...and sharing pictures. The pictures I've already seen on this site are absolutely beautiful and I couldn't imagine having my wedding anywhere else! My questions are as follows and if you can help in anyway I would soooo appreciate it!!!!! 1. My soon to be father-in-law is a paster here in the US and we would like to incorporate him into the service in some way, would that be possible to incorporate him even if it's just to say a prayer or do we need to have the Jamaican minister do the entire service? 2. If we choose the religious ceremony will we be able to incorporate a unity candle lighting during the ceremony? 3. We are looking at purchasing the Caprice wedding package and would like to know what the reception consists of. Is this a "sit down" dinner with music and dancing? 4. What kind of food is served at the reception? Will the guests just order as if they were eating at a regular restaurant? 5. Will we be able to have the reception right after the wedding ceremony? 6. Will the cake be served at the reception or right after the wedding? 7. Will we be able to provide our own cake serving set for the cake cutting? 8. At the reception will we be able to have our special song played so that we are able to have our first dance as a married couple to "our song"? 9. What do the Caprice wedding package decorations include for the wedding ceremony? 10. Do you have pictures available to send of wedding decorations, wedding locations, bouquet, boutonniere and cake designs? 11. Does the spa offer someone to do my make-up for me (the Bride) on the wedding day? 12. Is there Golf offered close to the resort? 13. Will there be free transportation for all guests to and from the airport to the resort on both the day of arrival and the day of departure? 14. Will we be able to hold a rehearsal dinner for the bridal party the night before the wedding? 15. Does the resort offer group guide tours either free of charge or at a rate? 16. Will we be able to provide our own cake topper or does the cake already come with a cake topper? 17. We would like to provide a welcome gift to all of our guests who will be staying at your resort? 18. If so, are we allowed to have the gifts placed in their rooms on arrival? 19. If so, are we allowed to arrange to have them shipped to the resort prior to our arrival? 20. Will the resort offer a room block for the guests so that they are all able to stay at your resort? 21. How far in advance do our wedding guest's rooms need to be booked? 22. Is October a good time to hold a wedding in Jamaica?

Hello everyone, my name is Tori and I am so excited about my upcoming wedding. My fiance and I are looking at having our wedding in Ocho Rios, Jamaica in October 2010. I know, I know...October 2010 is quite a long way away but the way I see it is you can never start planning your dream wedding too early!!!
