I've come up with different variations for it but am sure they are all wrong. Any insight will help put my brain at ease. I can help! (Finally, haha)... DH means "Dear Husband" Check out this linkback: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t2690 for more abbreviations. You will see that I asked the same question~ Hope the link works, if not search for "abbreviations."
  2. Target Corp is in Minneapolis and my friends' job is the "dollar spot." What a cool job huh? They have noticed how fast all of the wedding stuff goes- like the bachlorette party goodies, etc so hopefully they will keep it coming!
  3. Thanks Everyone. It is starting to blow over now... I talked to everyone, now my FI needs to talk to his sibblings as well. We came to the consensus that no one was trying to hurt the other ones feelings and that next time it would be better to talk in person. It was a touch rude to ignore my phone calls and send an email from the group that was avoiding my calls. Also, they should have talked to me about the resort first and not ask 12 hours after I booked it... wait until they had all of the facts. I think what they are going to do is fly in on Saturday and stay at a larger AI then come to Playa Fiesta on Tuesday-Sunday so they can be with the family and group. That is more than fine with me!
  4. We just got done watching Love Actually! My all time favorite is While You Were Sleeping.
  5. Thanks girls. I guess the only reason I care is that they are my FI sibblings... and our wedding party.. They kind of went about it wrong and avoided my calls. Plus it was the day after I set the date/place. Hadn't even had a chance to share the info with them other than the website. My FI flew off the handle some because he was embarrassed that I found out... he knew how excited I was and after having a not so good experience wedding planning thus far. I guess I would expect my wedding party to stay with us and help out for the days we have stuff planned. Anyone else I prob wouldn't care either.
  6. What would you do if you got an email like this from your normally laid back, close family members? Dear Bride and Groom: "I tried both of your cell phones, but didn’t get an answer. We were looking at the resort info last night. I just wanted to see how you felt about us looking at some other resorts in Puerto Vallarta . We’ve all been to resorts and know what we like/prefer when spending this amount of money. From experience, we definitely would like to have a beach at the resort (it’s convenient to have service/lunch on the beach/wave-running/swimming, etc – with the convenience of your hotel room right there), as well as a variety of restaurants. If it’s ok with you guys, we’d like to look at some options for our vacation. We realize it is your wedding, but we’re also making a vacation out of it – like we’ve mentioned all along. I definitely think the resort looks nice, but wanted to work some of our preferences into the vacation with the cost of everything. If you are not ok with this & expecting everyone to stay at the resort you have decided to stay – please let us know. We don’t want to create any problems."
  7. So what's the status? Did you find a place? Did you post a review somewhere? We had our engagement party this weekend... really fun and I am now exhausted!!!
  8. Hi! We are getting married in January and having our AHR in June. I think it is totally cool to wait to have a reception until it is nice enough to enjoy the outdoors! You can do whatever you want... and by waiting you can plan the AHR when you get back without adding stress to planning a DW. I am wearing my dress too... at least for awhile if not the whole night. YOU make the rules!

Wedding planning is supposed to be fun and it wasn't for me. I still LOVE the resort, I just don't want to try to coordinate 60 people there without more help. I was thinking of hiring an outside WC to talk to my Dreams WC then thought, this is crazy! I spoke to a nurse I work with and she is planning a wedding at Barcelo in PDC... she talked to her WC and TA and had pretty much everything planned in a day. That's what I'm talking about, ha! You girls are the best!
  10. Hi Ladies: I have decided to host my wedding elsewhere. Mainly because of the fact that I am not receiving responses from the WC and that Dreams STILL don't have their prices loaded. I tried working with them for 2 months and am sick of being stressed out!!! Good luck to all of you and have fun at your wedding! I know it will be beautiful no matter what! Kate

Congrats...... Oh and honestly getting married there isn't as expensive as other options. It is totally worth it. They are also doing a reno this summer so it is going to be even more amazing by the fall. Cheers Kath PS I have pics if you would like me to send them to you Oh, you made my day. I booked today! We are getting married at Playa Fiesta on January 23, 2009!!! Please do send pictures... I love being inspired by LOVE!

She is higher end, meaning more $$, but her pictures are absolutely amazing. You can visit her website at Michelle Turner Photography - Maine and Destination Wedding Photography Good luck!! Thanks! Do you have a photography estimate? The one I like is about $6k... so a ballpark would be helpful! And what you are getting for that amount. I am debating whether to do a full or partial takeover, still. I don't need any more stress... I am already moving my wedding accross the country of Mexico. That's all of the stress I can take!

We are renting a tent and having a reception at my future in-laws house. They have several acres so we can have a DJ, and what's nice is we are going to pick up the food and drinks... drinks way ahead of time. Since we are not getting married that day it will be less stressful. We can decorate the tent so I can still create the ambieance I am looking for! Lets talk, we can figure something out!!!
  14. If you are going casual... why don't you let them pick either style and you pick the color and fabric. That is what I am doing to keep a more casual look and they are thankful to pick a style that flatters them. I picked the Jim Hjelm chiffon dresses that are tea length, but we might take them up some. There are TONS of colors. I looked at J Crew too but they didn't have a blue I liked.

It does end up being kind of pricey which is why went with the partial takover. More guests = more $ for the dinner, bar etc. I was also looking at las caletas but that really wasn't much cheaper. Let me know if you have any questions. We have already booked our week, the minister and photogrpaher and our wedding is not until Oct 2009. Good luck. Thanks! I think we are sold. It is expensive in a way, but what isn't?!. I think you get what you pay for in life! Who are you using for a photographer and how much is it costing you? P.S. I live in Excelsior, MN... are you right in Mpls or the burbs?
  16. Hi Ladies, I noticed that you haven't been on here since April... but I think I am going to join your party at Playa Fiesta and was wondering if you had any advice?
  17. I can tell that you are so EXCITED and I am so happy for you! I can't wait to be at that point... hopefully soon! Have a great week!
  18. Anyone willing to give me an example of what your invitation wording looks like?

  21. Nice! The minneapolis connection... I am in Excelsior!
  22. Two things... If anyone has time and wants to help out: Look at my website and let me know if I am missing anything or any suggestions are welcome. You might notice I cut and pasted some info from a few of your websites. Thanks in advance! WEBSITE: katelynnandbill.com Second about PHOTOGRAPHY. I think this is a touchy subject because the costs are such a wide range and can add up to double the cost of our wedding. First I think you have to prioritize your budget, where on your list does photography fall? Secondly, you have to decide what kind of pictures you are looking for. If you just want clear, traditional pictures I think the resort photographer looks like a great decision, financially and reliability wise. I am personally looking for a photojournalist approach to my photog which is where the expense is occurred in my opinion. With the equipt. today, it isn't too difficult to get clear photos... I am pretty good myself. BUT... if you want your pictures to tell a story you need to have a photographer that has creativity, a good eye and can work in the moment. I decided I wanted photojournalism bc a lot of friends/family cannot make it and I want something to take back to them and that will make them feel like they were there! I am still working on my final decisions... but I hope this reasoning helps a little!
