Awesome! So happy for you both! You looked amazing. -

Then I placed lime-green mums in a circle above the salt and put a small class of water with gerber daisies sticking out of the top. The arrangement was so different that you really didn't even notice that it was a fishbowl. I think the same thing would work with your turqouise blue water and floating colorful gerbers - or you could do blue colored sand and press gerbers so they face on the outside - that would look cool and different as well. I'm not very good at how to attach photos (I tried several times), but here's what they looked like (to give you an idea). http://www.flickr.com/gp/14565942@N02/n7Eg91 That is so cute! Not at all what I was thinking= not cheesy. LOL. I am from the midwest so I thought I had seen every fishbowl and mirror centerpiece there was~ Here are some other things I like that I have pulled from this site and others.

Yay! You girls are moving along! I need a little bit of pushing to get my invites out this week... it is so friggin hot that I don't feel like sitting around and putting them together. Maybe once I get going it will get easier..... Hope you are all having a good week~ -

Your bridesmaid's would have all-white bouquets with colorful ribbons (perhaps one color per each bridesmaid - not sure). The the tables, (again just relying on the information given), I think glass fish bowls filled with water and dyed teal blue with gerbers floating in it would look nice on the white tablecloth - then I would go for a teal colored napkin OR wrap the napkins in teal ribbons with a flower in the middle (perhaps alstromeria in the colors of pink, red and orange). If you wanted to really make this idea pop, I would add a bamboo runner under the fish bowls to really give it a more "tropical" air. Another direction to take it would to use to ginger, birds of paradise and alstromeria for your bouquet and also incorporate those flowers into your table centerpieces. This would really make the design very "tropical" in feel. Thank you so much for your advice! I have been in Houston for a week without a computer so I appologize for the delay in response. Another question: How can you do the fishbowl idea without it looking cheesy or cheap I know there is a fine line between this a chic but it can be done~ You are so sweet for helping me out! Anytime someone on here is looking for a planner/designer on here I am referring them to you! You are awesome.

Show us your wedding dress!
kate.com replied to Jennifer's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
This is my dress, but I am having it tapered on the sides so it is more of a "fit and flare" shape... and not sure about the veil. I am thinking no veil because the back is so pretty... of coarse it will look much better after I have it fitted to me, and not a size 6! -
can someone tell me how to make a picture smaller in photobucket so I don't scare the girls off with my neon smile, thanks.

I've been sick which has really gotten my wedding on track. I never got any save-the-date cards out because I waited too long but word of mouth had gotten out so I didn't bother worrying. Since I've been sick: - I've ordered my dress (Vivian by Sophia Tolli) -Ordered the BM dresses (B2 line by Jasmine) in Espresso brown. -Designed, printed, assembled, and sent my invitations. -Fought with my mother on all my wedding details because she's a Momzilla! -Chosen my photographer; my dear friend is going to just be finishing up photography school in January and wants to develop her portfolio...so she said its free of charge (I will find a way to sneak her a cheque anyways!). She already does great work so I'm excited to see what she'll do with all of it! -Built my wedding website...although its pretty bare right now but additions are on the way! Now I'm just waiting to get my RSVPs so I can get people booked. I've also been on the search of decently priced beach towels that we can order in bulk as we're going to be getting them embroidered with our names and wedding date and giving them as wedding favours. Time is flying by and we're well on our way to having this wedding taken care of! I leave you with this: Getting married is hard...for the bride. When my FI asked his friend to be a GM, his friend asked him what kind of duties that entailed. His response was "Its easy, you just eat ribs and drink beer". Men! hahahaha...men. I love your dress! You are doing great! Towels are on sale at Kohl's and they are high quality. I'm sure you can order them online if you don't have a kohl's near you! Best wishes. -

I think teal and chocolate brown (and white) are still a strong color combination My favorite combination right now is a teal color with like a mango or a pappaya - I've seen this pop-up somewhat recently and I think it could look really amazing. Teal and red is also a good combination. Teal and white with an accent orange could be really pretty. Teal and lime green - another good combo!! You have lots of options!! As far as decor goes - well, that's a little trickier because I really think that is dependent on what kind of wedding you are going for - something really beachy, something classical, something exotic, something tropical, something more "mexican", etc. Thanks! I have a few Ideas. I am thinking gerber daisies for the girls. I like orange, pink and red... I saw orange and pink together and liked it, I was thinking of going to a florist to see if I liked it with the red- it could give it that unique look. My other idea was to have them each have their own color (one with pink, one red, one orange) and then my bouquet could either be a combination of colors or white? The tables are trickier to incorporate the blue. I am going for fun, tropical, simple. I could always make a couple of table runners... hmmm....

Hi Ladies, I have been itching to join this thread but have been super busy with work! Bill and I (Kate) are getting married on 1.23.09 at Playa Fiesta in Puerto Vallarta. So Far I have: 1. The Location, Playa Fiesta which comes with Lindsay the wedding planner. This is so nice because I can arrange everything through her. The DJ, Ceremony, decorations, etc. Lindsay and her husband own the place and all they do is weddings, and they are from CA so I can call them on a US cell phone, priceless. 2. The photographer, Elizabeth Medina, is booked. They have "in house" photographers at PF, but Elizabeth is how I found PF so I insisted. I love her! 3. The Website, katelynnandbill.com is complete. I will add info up until and after the wedding but the hard stuff is out of the way, thank GOD! 4. The Dress, found it in California, Mon Amie Bridal Salon- awesome, ask for Caitlin, so many beautiful dresses! I brought my mom out there for mothers day to visit my sister who lives in LA... Mon Amie was the first store I went to. They were actually having a trunk show so I am getting a one of a kind Augusta Jones dress, it is kind of a combination of a bunch of AJ dresses. Hahaha. It is girly and floofy but I love it, and my mom cried so that was it!!! 5. THE BM Dresses, I am having my sister, and Bill's sister and sister-in-law stand up for me... he is having his bro, BIL and my bro so it worked out perfect. The girls are wearing 3 different styles of the Jim Hjelm Just Teas collection in teal- they all picked their own out. No idea what to do about the guys. 6. The Invites, I was told to skip the STD and send out the invite ASAP with all of the travel info so that is my plan. I am making them myself with the help of my sis and FSIL. It is going ok but taking forever. My sis lives in LA and on a completely different time schedule than us... and FSIL works at a printing company- I don't know. I guess I'd do it again... so far, but it would be a lot better if you sit down with the people helping you. My FH printed the envelopes while I glued things to the invites- we were a MESS! Went through an extra 50 envelopes, at least! Stupid printer. We are also doing a magnet which proved to be a pain as well, but I think we have it figured out. My FH's big idea was to use pictures of our dogs for the stamps... that is his project! 7. Helping people book is a big pain in the ass, so use a TA if you can. Playa Fiesta has guests book online directly, so I recommended a TA for the flight or told them they can just book the flight on line, we'll see how that goes after I send out the invites next weekend (HOPEFULLY!) 8. Welcome bags: I got canvas tote bags from Eddie Bauer (Like the standard LLBean bags) on sale for $12.99- pretty good deal from $22. Not cheap I know, but the stuff I got for in them made up for it! I went to the dollar store and scored on: sunscreen, aloe, tylenol, koozies shaped like hawaiian shirts, decks of cards, mini loofahs, and I forget what else. That equaled about $8 per bag- so thats $21! We are also planning on getting some munchies and water to put in the bags when we get there-but not much more. That is about all I have done, which is a lot of the major stuff. Future projects and topics include: 1. Flowers, decor 2. Possible videographer? 3. Sunset cruise for rehersal dinner night 4. Menu 5. Ceremony 6. Itinerary 7. I like the idea of a "Who's Who" booklet with pictures and facts so people can get to know one another 8. Guy's clothes. 9. Music 10... there's gotta be more! I think that about wraps it up! I head to Houston for work Monday-Friday and probably won't have internet access for most of the week bc I am getting a new laptop when I get there... -
Well, how many people are in your group (estimate) Playa Fiesta requires a 20 bedroom minimum- so you would need at least 40 people. It is a smaller, more private venue. What are you looking for? I was considering Dreams Tulum first and decided on PF because it is private, intimate... like renting a villa without having to foot the whole bill. We are expecting around 50. I also like it because the WC Lindsay communicates with you, is from the US... makes a difference. If you are laid back, and aren't into tiny details Dreams would be great. Many people haven't had much luck communicating with Dreams WCs until right before the wedding... but it turns out beautiful. I am not quite that hands off and am a worrier.... so PF rocks!

Im cheating. I just said "at sunset" on everything I am sending out now. I am planning on giving an itinerary in the welcome basket so they will have it when they get to Mexico. I fugure, that's all they need to know, and sunset sounds so romantic. One piece of advice was to ask your photographer what time to insure the best lighting for pictures. I believe the photographer had told me around 4:30-5pm in February.

FYI: We are renting a tent, DJ, tables, cattering picnic food, having a keg & bar for 200 people and it is going to cost us $4000. We are probably going to hire a shuttle which will be another $1K. We are having it at the future-inlaws. We are planning on planting flowers in galvanized buckets, stringing christmas lights and lanterns. We are getting hitched 1-23-09 and having the reception on 6-13-09.... I think this is pretty reasonable to do a full blown reception, or at least the guests will feel like it is. I will be more relaxed because I have time to send out the invites when we return from Mexico. Just ideas.

If anyone is looking at wedding websites, I highly recommend Wedding Window. They have lots of designs/colors to choose from and have great customer service! I emailed several questions to the help desk and got responses quickly. The longest I had to wait was if it was late at night I had an answer before 9am the next day which is very reasonable for the price!
