There were like 20 different styles to chose from as well, which I am doing all different styles but same chiffon fabric. That is a good point. There are some really good photographers that you can bring in from the states and if they are a guest at the hotel they can't say much. See if that's the deal. If you had the budget for Sol, then this could be very realistic for you. I looked into this extensively and had to deal with a vendor policy and ended up with what I wanted... am paying more but it's worth it to me. PM me if you want details.

Sorry, I don't know! I had to change my resort too and it sucks. But, I am completely happy now, even though I am paying an arm and a leg. I would tell them that they are going to lose your business unless you can work something out. If not, maybe you could have your ceremony somewhere else? I think it is very unreasonable and I wouldn't put up with it!

Somebody wrote on here that it is the people that you least expect to give you greif with the wedding, do. I've found that to be true as well. So I think you and your FI have already made your decision to have your wedding in Cancun, period. Part of the deal with having a DW is not everyone you envisioned there will come. But, it is not about them it is about the 2 of you. If it makes you feel any better, we had the same problem in the begining. Totally blew me away! But, people are coming around now. Not everyone, but some. And my FI and I found out we are a really good team! You can be firm and still be nice. Good luck!

I sorry you have to go through this~ it is not fair or right... but more and more companies are doing it. Don't get caught up in the bonuses or "transition" pay... money is never free. Do what you've got to do to stay continuously employed, but you have no loyalty to them. I hope that makes sense. Put your app in because you have to, then shop around. Best wishes to you!

I am not a lawyer or anything, but I do think it will be in your best interest to vent on here... and keep calm and collected on the surface. Make sure you think before you speak and don't let emotions come out. Write down your key points, etc. I think it will help your case that he is out of line and that you don't care what he does, you just want what is best for your kids. Kind of sounds like when you called him he freaked at the thought of you being near the wedding... whether that be his fear or a weirdo fiancee. So let someone else pick up the kids, and then you can meet them down the block or whatever.

Hey, I also wanted to say that as a female IT expert you are highly marketable! My FSIL took a new job about a month ago as an IT mgr and got a huge pay raise.. when you are in a company for a long time you end up making out on benefits but don't get raises to keep up with industry standards. And her company is still hiring and having a hard time finding qualified individuals... so don't fret yet!

Ummm.... I really like the girls that gave gift bags in their wedding colors and DIY things like first aid kits, etc. All of the labels are cute and are very thoughtful! Plus, gift bags are smaller, 30 canvas totes take up one very large suitcase on their own. DIY would save you $$ and look like you put a lot of thought into it... a hand written welcome is nice too!
