Just like us, we are hoping for 25 or less people so its all going down with us. My family will help us get it down there. We will either have the hotel place them in the rooms or we will go door to door and hand them out. Carla

After I read that I took your advice and used a couple of the wedding website to find photographers in Chicago. I thought I would find a couple that were more artistic/photo journalistic but I found 18 that we loved!!! I am so happy there are that many amazing photogs in Chicago. Guess being a small town girl I am not use to large selection. I have emailed them all for prices. I can't wait to hear back from them. Thank you again for telling me to do my research!! Carla
  3. I agree, try davids bridal. Why don't you want to wear your wedding dress?
  4. We are doing the legal part back in the US because we want to have a Mayan ceremony and that is not considered legal in MX. You might want to check to see what the legal ceremony requirements are and if they fit with your vision. We don't plan on telling anyone the ceremony is symbolic and are going to celebrate our anniversary on our symbolic day.
  5. We are having a marriage blessing and party. Going to make it more of a fun party with sangria, tapas and desserts. No cake cutting or fancy dress but lots of fun things for the kids, like a pinata. Carla

  8. Here is the photog I am looking at: Misha Media :: Chicago Wedding Photography Engaged! I wish I could find some reviews of people who worked with her.

  10. Thank you so much! You really reaffirmed what I was thinking. I am really leaning towards not doing them in MX. I love the idea of Chicago plus we could have a few with our baby puppy then.
  11. Hi All, I am so confused. We really need to book a photographer for our engagement photos but I don't know where we want to do them... How did you decide where to have them done? Did the location have a special meaning? Here is possible list so far: Mackinaw Island - where my FI proposed Chicago - love the city e-pics I have seen but no real meaning Playa Del Carmen, Mexico - while we are there for our site visit? Near ruins in Mexico HELP!!! Carla
  12. The best tool for perforating is the fiskar rotary trimmer. I use mine for scrapbooking and used it for the first print/rough draft of my STD'd, worked great! Not only did it make them easier to cut out but made the perforating so easy. Besides the trimmer, all you need to buy for a couple dollars is the perforating blade that just slips right in. FiskarsCrafts.com A new way to look at crafting online! Hope that helps, Carla
  13. Oh Erin!! If you are this upset about it, get all dolled up again and have another photographer do some candid ones. I don't think its a bad idea at all. My FI and I are honeymooning in Europe months after our wedding but we plan to have some shots done while we are there. Don't worry it will all work out. Carla

  15. If you do it in your own state can you do it a few hours away? Would that help you cut the guest list down. *hug* I understand what your going through. My FI's family is having some job problems right now so in the beginning we thought about just doing it here. Lucky my FMIL is an amazing women and knew how much I would hate having to be the center of attention at a huge wedding. So she told us that they would put a little aside each month and in 2 years they would have the money. Maybe this system could work for your mom? Its amazing what $30 a paycheck put aside can do. Carla
  16. Truthfully if you know someone who wants to try, the software to do make the video is REALLY easy to learn. My sister actually did my niece and nephews graduation videos with the mix of pictures and video clips. She did an AMAZING job. My sister is an accountant, not computer savvy at all, and she learned it in just couple hours. I would sugguest windows movie maker for newbies, for someone who is a more advanced I would use Adobe premier. The perk of having a family member do the video is that you get so much more video to use. We are having my sister do a documentary style filming for the week we are in MX for the wedding so we will have video of rehearsal dinner, reception, excursions, etc. But we are hiring a pro for an hour for the ceremony so that my sister is not having to worry about the video while she is being part of the ceremony. Does that help? Carla
  17. It is so worth it to get exactly what you want. I am doing it. I actually designed a template for a BDW member, Sanddune, that was the invite and inserts so that she could order just the pocketfolds. So it is very do able and saves a bunch of money. For mine I am creating my own pocketfolds from scratch instead of ordering them. I am working on template for it right now for 6x6 invites. Carla

  19. Hi, I have noticed a couple new bugs. 1.) When I click submit post on quick reply it tries to submit it twice in a row. It post the first one but then sends me to the advanced edit screen where it tells me I must wait 10 seconds between posts. 2.) The blank page. Sometimes when I try to view a posts all I get is a blank page even if I refresh it. I am using firefox version 3.0.3 Anyone else having these issues? Carla
  20. We are fortunate enough to make enough money to pay for the whole thing plus help some family members with their travel costs. Even if we didn't have the money I would NEVER expect my family to pay for it. We like to take care of things ourselves.
  21. I am using a laptop & projector, tracing the image and then painting it my colors. Here is how I have seen it done: Hope that helps, Carla
