  1. ***UPDATE:***** I think I finally have them looking like what I want. Thoughts? BTW if the images look like the old ones hit F5 on your keyboard to refresh. Thanks for all the help ladies. Carla Colors Blue and Sand (accent colors: pink, orange, white): Page 1-2: Page 3-4:

Is the outdoor eating area quite and away from the street?
  3. We are actually thinking about having a small lunch reception at la Cueva Del Chango (cave of the monkey in english). Matt and Sol also had their rehearsal dinner here too. La cueva del chango Here is a mans blog about his experience there. He describes the atmosphere and food wonderfully! Seven Hills: Cave of the Monkey
  4. So far I have 4 boarding pass created: Quote: 1.) Main info/announcement - Day, time, location, our names, etc. 2.) Dear Friends and Family.... - Telling why we chose a DW and a note about a celebration at home upon our return if they can't come. 3.) Come by Cruise Ship, Come by Plane, Our Website - Name and dates of ship we are on, Airport you could fly into and our website address with a note about getting up-to-date info, reservation and hotel information there. 4.) Agenda for day of wedding - Has a general section for while we are on land and a section for cruise ship passengers only (for thing like dinner that evening). I am not sure about #4. Does that sound ok? We want to stress that we will only be in port for about 6 hours and non-cruise guest cannot come on board. I didn't want to write a whole paragraph in case people just skim over it and miss that we are there for a short time. Also we are having a celebration at home a few weeks after we get back. Do I need to include the specifics about location, date and time in here? Or can I just make sure that the info is in the invites? Thanks so much! Carla

  6. I have seen a few of the STD with a little blurb for friends and family letting them know not to feel bad about not making it to the wedding. I wrote this, does it sound ok? Thanks, Carla Quote: Dear Friends and Family, We have chosen the Riviera Maya to sail into for our destination wedding. The beautiful white sand beaches and lush rainforest make it the perfect location to start our lives together. We understand that because of the distance and cost not everyone will be able to be with us in the Riviera Maya. So we will be holding a celebration in Michigan upon our return home. Please do not feel bad if you are unable to attend. The greatest gift you can give is to celebrate with us, whether in the Rivera Maya or at home in Michigan.

I've put on my teflon suit & will NOT let anyone distract me. My favorite response has been 'Whateverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.' Guests have to realize that it's YOUR choice.... YOUR wedding. If they can't make it, oh well!!! Quite frankly, I think people (family included) should be honored they're even getting an invite!! There is always the standard reply. "Don't like it? You pay for the wedding and then we will allow you to give your 2 cents."
  8. I am with everyone else on here. Do what you want. I love the colors also, they sound perfect for what you want. I didn't really want a beach theme either. We are going to use travel as our main theme and use the compass rose. We are trying for the classic Indiana Jones old world/jungle look mixed with a bit of 1930/1940's Hollywood elegance. Maybe you could do the Hollywood elegance/travel mix like we are. Carla
  9. Wow! We think so much alike! I am so happy you have your plans set. I like the idea of the supper club too. It is something we have not actually done on a cruise yet but I hear it is AMAZING!! I love the fact that you can do the cake and champagne there too. We are not going through carnival for our ceremony. Wonder if we could order that separate for our dinner? Our original idea was to do the ceremony in one port and TTD in another but I REALLY wanted both in the Rivera Maya. So I think we are going to do 2 back to back cruises that stop in Rivera Maya; first one is wedding cruise with family, second one will be our honeymoon cruise. Can't wait to hear more about your plans. It is nice to know someone else is going through the same planning process.
  10. While I don't have a ton of advice but a hug always help. It would seem to me that you would want your side of the family at an AHR since they have been supportive... Its hard not to punish everyone when you are so upset at some.
  11. Go up to the sticky in this forum by Del Sol photography. I think the first three or four links in their posts are TTD ones. Carla

Just copy that line and paste it right into post on here. Everyone should be able to see the pictures then.
  13. I love the pink and orange colors! And it would be so cute if you could find a little accent of lime green to go in there.

  17. Hi ladies, I need lots of creative help. It seems I can do just about anything technically but lack in the creativity department. I am thinking our monogram design/theme is going to be our destination, Mexico, and a compass rose (for our love of travel). I have been messing with photoshop creating these logos. I would still like to get our names, date and location on it too. But it still just dosn't look right to me. Any thoughts? Should I move things around? Where should I put the names, date and location. Should the compass rose be more see through or Mexico be not to see through? Any opinions at all would be helpful. Thanks! 18. Maybe the pocket fold invites. You can do the inside with main invite with many layers. Here is a step by step on how to create your own. Shows A - Z : Carol Duvall Show : Envelope Cards : DIY Network
  19. The RSVP for the boarding pass is very easy. Do you have the basic template already? I am attaching my work in progress just in case you need the basic template. (to see mine correctly you will need to download and install these fonts: hibiscus, Angelina and pr compass rose) Just create one of the boarding passes to say RSVP with the info you need. Then you just need to use something to create the tear along line. Fiskars rotary cutting board has the Perforating blade that will make that for you. Here is a really good example from the forum: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t24866 You could even skip the envelope and make the RSVP into a post card by putting the stamp and your address on the back side of that boarding pass. Does that make sense? Carla Template.doc
  20. Thank you for posting this. I love them (just not in those colors). We are having a very small guest list, might be fun to do instead of place cards. I know my FMIL could put them together for very little money.

We are looking at cruising into the Mayan Rivera. We are total cruise addicts! I say hire the local photographer! At least to me the pics are top of my list of important things. You could do your ceremony, then let your guests enjoy their time in Cabo while you get pics done. Then meet back on ship and use dinner (which you can wear your dress to since they required business casual or nicer in the dinner rooms) as your reception dinner? You can order a small cake ahead of time and do your cake cutting right at dinner. Then there is the evening show and dancing. All of which will cost you nothing cause they are included in your cruise ticket (well minus the cake). That way your guests don't have to give up one of their days in port where they might like to be exploring Cobo, you can get the pictures you want done without feeling rushed and still stay within a budget. Also you said you were getting married on ship at your embarkation port. Have you thought about doing the legal stuff at home ahead of time and then doing the ceremony in Cabo! Talk about some amazing pics! I hope that helps. I am here if you want to bounce any other ideas. Carla
  24. Looks like these can be used at any Michael's, even in the US. No stipulations about country in the fine print... Carla
  25. Oh! my fav so far is La cueva del chango. I am highly considering having our lunch reception there. From reviews I have found it is very affordable. Also here is a mans review of it: Seven Hills: Cave of the Monkey Del Sol has a few pics of it in a TTD shoot they did. del Sol Photography associate photographer Vincent Hope this helps. Carla
