Mackinac Island Proposal

Mackinac Island Background: For those of you not from Michigan. Mackinac Island is a small island about 5 miles from the Mackinaw Bridge. There are no cars or motorcycles allowed on the island; only bikes and horse drawn carriages. Most of the island is a state park with just a couple roads for bike riding. Proposal: It was actually a whole weekend of surprises and it couldn't have been more perfect. First surprise was the trip to Mackinaw I was told what to bring and when to be ready but not where we were going. When we got there I walked in the room to discover a lake view room with a jacuzzi!! As we are having dinner that night the clearest most beautiful rainbow appears. Talk about a sign. Next morning we get up and Chris tells me we are going to bike around the island. It was the most amazing and beautiful place I have ever seen. As your biking on either side of you there is blue water or forest. About lunch time we see a little quite beach facing mackinaw bridge so we stop. And from what seem likes no where Chris pulls out a whole picnic lunch along with a bottle of my favorite wine. After we had eaten he starts asking me if I knew how much he loves me. Then he reaches into the bag and bring out the ring box. I knew right then what it was. I am not even sure what he said I was so excited. All I heard was will you marry me. Then I said yes about a hundred times. After we were done riding we did a little shopping and walked into a del sol shirt store. They had sweat shirts printed up with the bike route we took around the island on the back. On the front it said "Life begins at " and then had the road sign that said M-185, which is where Chris proposed. Needless to say Chris demanded we get them. The next morning I wake up to a breakfast on the beach with the sun just over the water. The whole weekend was so amazing. Later on I found out that biking around Mackinac Island was a tradition his family used to do when he was younger. It was so sweet to be included in a family tradition of his. Well thats my long story. Hope you liked it, Carla

Wedding idea advice....
adias.angel replied to Smooth_J's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I was originally thinking the same as you; To spend the day together and help each other get ready. I didn't really want that "girl" time with family. BUT now that others have made the point. I want that moment we he see everything done; dress, hair, makeup, etc. I think the only deciding factor is does she want "that moment" you see her to be when your coming down the aisle..... -

Since we are coming in by cruise ship we are only looking for a amazing ceremony venue and don't care about the accommodations. Sorry to turn the topic on you but since I posted this we are actually starting to consider not even using a beach. Saw some pictures by Elizabeth Medina at Hacienda Uayamon in Campeche. The ceremony site in the pictures got us thinking old world travel. And a theme came from there - Indiana Jones meets 1940's Hollywood elegance. Needless to say my research has started from the beginning again. Carla

While I was reading the thread on creative guestbooks I saw something mentioned I had not seen in other templates before. Quote: Originally Posted by townie princess you get a sheet printed with questions on it for your guests to fill out.... So I love the idea of the questions to add to pages in our scrapbook. These would be great to read in 5 or 10 years and laugh about the answers. So can you ladies help me think up some questions? I am drawing a total blank. Thanks Carla

Might give you a bit more insight in how to choose a TA. Cruise Message Boards - Cruisemates Cruise Forums :: View topic - why do people use a PVP from carnival?? If you search on cruisemates for "PVP vs TA" or something along those lines you will get a good idea of how it all works with a ton of posts to reference. Carla -

Don't worry it took me almost a week and three pages of posts from the wonderful ladies on here to get mine looking the way I wanted. Carla

I was wondering should the style of the STD's match the invites? I designed a fun boarding pass STD but the invites we are looking at are pocket fold, totally different look and a bit more formal. Does that matter? I know the invite is suppose to set the mood of the wedding but should the STD also? Thanks, Carla

Ladies, Thank you SOOOO much for all your help! I think they are pretty close to done now. I even finished up the right side. (Hit F5 on your keyboard if they look like the old ones.) Feel free to post any thoughts or correct any mistakes I made (thanks Kristy!). Being the perfectionist I am I may still make a few changes anyway. Thanks again, you ladies ROCK! Carla

HELP! I was looking on here one day and happened to click on a members link to their wedding photos. I loved them! I wanted to show the colors and decor to someone. I thought I had booked marked the pics but I didn't take. Here is what I remember of the pictures: - chuppah on the beach with orange and pink material over it. - white chair covers with orange and pink bows - I THINK they were done by del sol but not 100% sure Anyone point me in the right direction? So sorry. Can't believe I did something this dumb! Carla

Carnival Mexican Riveria Cruise & Cabo Wedding!

I just wish they would release the rates already! One of the best tips I learned is no matter what rate carnival gives you ANY TA can give you a better one. What happens is a TA gets say 5-10% off the list price of a cruise for their commission. TA's will then cut their commissions to give you a better rate than what carnival says. The trick is that they are not allowed to advertise things (per the deal with carnival) but as soon as you ask they come up with some amazing prices. -

LOL I think we are going to try and shoot for a January 2010 or 2011. The rates are so much lower during that time we can afford to do back to back cruises. Plus we are really hoping to have a VERY small group with us maybe 10-15. We will be sailing Carnival also. I looked on their bon voyage page and found these: Carnival Cruise Lines - Gifts & Services They must have just added these in the last month. I was kind of hoping they would have a two tier one but I bet my TA could put in a request for one. They are usually pretty good about that kind of thing. -
If you have not read a lot of negative reviews I would say stick with the hotel planner. Just know that at first she may not be responsive because she is focusing on the weddings that are before yours. You will probably get the most time from her 3-4 months before your wedding. Besides $1900 is a lot of excursions. Carla
