  1. Awesome bargain! I am thinking of doing the same thing from Lilywedding.com with an Alfred Angelo dress I love. Glad to hear it worked out for you.
  2. I am doing this since I am 3rd generation Irish. My FI is going to try and see if can find an original at a coin show. If not we will probably be getting it off this site too.

  5. I saw this cute idea for table numbers, thought I would share: We are not having separate table but am thinking about doing this just to show at the AHR.
  6. Hey all, OK so this might be the weirdest question of the day. A free package with bouquet, boutonnière, cake and champagne is included with a weeks stay at most of the resorts. We are probably going to do the ceremony off site and then come back to the resort for dinner. Can we take the bouquet & boutonnière with us? And then have the cake and champagne with dinner when we get back? Would save a bit of money that way. Thanks, Carla

  8. Here is a first draft of our wording: In a intimate ceremony in the Riviera Maya while surrounded by family and friends Carla xxx & Chris xxx will become husband and wife. Upon our return we would love for you to celebrate this joyous occasion with us. xxxx xxxx location info here xxxx xxxx Then one of the inserts will be this: Quote: Dear Family and Friends, We have chosen the Riviera Maya for our destination wedding. The beautiful white sand beaches and lush rain forest make it the perfect location to start our lives together. While we would love everyone to come, we understand that because of the distance and cost not everyone will be able to be with us in the Riviera Maya. So we will be holding a celebration in Michigan upon our return home. The greatest gift you can give is to celebrate with us. We are hoping the last line makes it sound like were less of a gift grubber...
  9. I have seen a few people on here who had theirs done at the resort, no problems. ErinB even had a couple taken in the pool
  10. We are of the same mindset. As the guest list grows we are thinking about ditching the OOT bags too. Almost everyone coming are travelers like us so the bags would probably be useless. The thought right now is to wrap small gifts and leave those in the rooms along with a note about us taking them on an excursion. Just so they know we thought about them.
  11. Just as an FYI most dresses are actually washable, so getting it wet won't be problem (unless you have an very delicate fabric like silk). A little secret the dress shops don't tell you. A lot of the dresses are made of synthetics with a fancy name like luster satin; aka polyester/nylon blend.

  14. You could always try this on him: Ok maybe not... Does he realize that the decision needs to be made before you make your invites this weekend? Did you ask him what his reasons for not wanting one was? Not knowing when he will be here can't be his whole reason. Cost was a big factor for us and I showed my FI by having a cocktail type party it wouldn't cost much at all and would make everyone in the family feel included.

So now we are going in the middle of December 2010. I am so excited to have other brides on here who's dates are this far out!!!

  17. Have you looked at the alfred angelo destiny collection? They have a couple that are not exact but have the same kind of uniqueness....
  18. I am!! Our date is December 2010. Wanted to give ourselves plenty of time to plan and of course save money. Plus it gives some of our family who will have trouble putting the money away enough time too.

  20. Well I just saw the picture. Ok not as bad as it could be. I would say go ahead and send them. Everyone knows they are not from you anyway....
  21. The way best is to make it. It will cost you $20-$30 and there are a ton of how to's if you Google it. Plus you get it just the way you want. I am actually taking my FMIL veil from her wedding (which contains a piece of her mothers veil), disassembling it and redoing it into a different style.
  22. Sounds like a great plan! Minus the difference in location the time line is pretty much the same a standard wedding time line.
  23. Hey all, I am wondering how are you displaying pictures at your reception? We will have not only our childhood and engagement photos but also our wedding and TTD photos too. I am not sure how to display all those... Thanks, Carla
