Thanks When I first read that for a Mayan ceremony all guests were asked to wear neutral colors I had the same "NO WAY!" reaction. But after seeing some older family portraits of my FI's family where they did the same thing I feel in love with the idea. Here is the example laybar found: What I really love about going all neutral is that the only splash of color (orange) on everyone will be my FI tie, the back of my dress, monogram on my parasol and my flowers. -

my mom wants to wear white...
adias.angel replied to Jenn6603's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Ok I am going to go against the grain but I am of the mindset why not let her wear white? The whole idea of a white wedding dress started when Queen Victoria wore a white lace dress and everyone like it and thought it was stylish. Before that wedding dress were of all colors. In some cultures, like India, white is the color of morning and no bride there would want to wear a white gown. All of our guests are being asked to wear white/tan/neutral colors because of the type of ceremony we are doing. I think that its going to make for some amazing photos of us all in neutral colors with only Chris and I wearing orange accents. If you don't want her to wear white ask her change it to a tan color. Then its a compromise and you both win... -

Is this maybe a bad idea? If you buy a darker colored bag you have to buy the printable iron sheets that are white not clear. They are created for ironing on dark colors. So if your logo has any areas in the middle of it that are not colored you have to cut it out. BUT I did do this same idea on black shirts for my robotics teams uniforms last year and they turned out amazing! People thought we had paid for silk screen printing. I think I still have the website marked where I ordered the iron on transfers from. Let me know and I will send it to you. Hope that helps, Carla

Hi Ladies, I have heard some awful things about customs. I would like to make OOT gift boxes but wrap them up like a present. If I wrap up 10-15 small boxes in wrapping paper and place them in checked luggage am I going to have a problem with them when I get to MX? Will they unwrap them? Thanks, Carla

I have super straight hair too. My friend who is a hair dresser told me that one thing thing that helps is if you don't wash your hair the morning of. The natural oils in your hair will help hold the curl. Also heavy duty gel helps a bit too.

We were looking at doing Xcaret for our TTD but I guess you have to ask permission. Advice from Paul (playa weddings) is to tell them you are doing a bridal elegance photo shoot. Trash the dress doesn't sound very good. LOL In the end my FI saw the TTD cenote tour that Del Sol does and fell in love. So we are going to do that instead of Xcaret. I would love to see your TTD pics if you did them at Xcaret.

Hi All, I saw this and thought I might post for all the other December brides out there. We thought that since we are getting married a couple week before Christmas we would give out ornaments with sand from the ceremony beach as favors. That way our family would be able to hang it on their Christmas tree and remember the wedding each year. We are going to get glass paint pens from a craft store and add our names, date and location to it. Here are just a couple of the shapes: Original from another BDW bride: Another I found in square shape: Flat and round shape example: Right now I am leaning towards the flat round ones. Since it would take very little sand to make it look 1/2 full and that would make it much lighter to hang. Not sure about adding shells... Anyone else interested in doing this? Carla

Advice-how to pay for wedding?
adias.angel replied to Oscar_Ernie's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
My FI and I are also paying for the wedding ourselves. Chris opened a money market account through our bank the week after we got engaged. Every month we each put in $500. That plus a 2 year engagement gave me my dream budget plus extra left over for a nice little saving account towards our honeymoon in Europe. I also found a lot of ways to save money (read the book Bridal Bargains plus lots of online research). Here is what I am saving on: 1.) I am doing a lot of things myself. Invitations STD's Thank You Cards Programs Menus Favors All AHR decorations - including table linens and wall hangings Petal Cones Place Cards OOT bag/package personalization Veil 2.) Travel during the off season and also using a good TA. By doing this we going to be getting a great discount on rooms. 3.) Buying my dress online/import from China. With the dress I am looking at now it will be close to a $500 or more savings. 4.) Having AHR at park in the afternoon and having cocktails only. We live in MI so our parks are just beautiful plus standard rental rates are $50 for the day. That along with only doing cocktails is going to cost us just a couple dollars per person. I think these are probably my biggest savings so far. If I come across more I will make sure to add them. Carla -

We are going to be upgrading to the $10 a month one when we get one year out from the wedding so we have the RSVP functionality. -

Are favors necessary at a DW?
adias.angel replied to Tracy's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Wow yea I say you have given more than enough. We are doing a OOT bag and a favor. But the favors are going to be DIY ornaments (since Christmas will be just around the corner) with sand from the beach. Should cost about .35 each so the cost won't be much. Otherwise I am not sure we would doing them. -

Hi All, I am working on my Welcome book for my OOT bag. Here are the pages I have so far: Schedule Of Events Guests Rooms Hotel Map Currency Conversion Spanish Phrases Restaurants Photo Sharing Hotel Activities Things-to-do/places to shop I borrowed these pages from a couple girls on here who posted their books (thanks Becks & MelanieS). Any other pages I should add? Any of these end up not being useful to guests? Thanks for the help. You ladies are the best! Carla
