  1. Those are awesome!! My FMIL wants to do a flip flop theme for my bridal shower. These are perfect! I am going to email them to her now.
  2. I was having a hard time with this too so I created a checklist for us. It has three sheets/tabs with questions and rating scales; ceremony site, reception site, hotel. Here is might help you: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t27020 Also one thing our TA told us was to take a TON of pictures of each place. Cause you might not see everything and want to refer back to something. I even added a place on the checklist to specify which picture numbers on your camera go to which resort. Hope this helps, Carla

  4. We are going to send out STD's (1 year before), Invites (6 months before) and Announcements w/ AHR info (day of wedding). We know most people will be booked by the time the invites go out so they will mostly be for sentimental reasons, mostly for people like my grandma who can't come. The one thing I still have not figure out is what to do about getting an RSVP for AHR from those who are going to the wedding. My two thoughts are to send out a reminder postcard for them to go to our website to RSVP or to just send them the announcement too...
  5. I am doing a welcome book that looks like a passport (using the passport invite template). That way it is small enough for a purse or pocket. Here is what I have so far in the Table of Contents: Schedule Of Events Hotel Map Guests Restaurants Hotel Activities Things To Do Currency Conversion Spanish Phrases Share Your Photos The Bride and Groom
  6. Thank you ladies. You are 100% right, I will have a great time. Plus I would like to do something for my FMIL, she is a great lady. She has been so supportive and I know how much she loves to plan things. We still have over 2 years till the wedding and she already bought orange and white ribbon with our names on it for the shower! LOL
  7. Hi All, My FMIL wants to give me a bridal shower. I am not much for tradition but isn't the MOH suppose to do this? I told my MOH I didn't want one so I am not sure what to say to FMIL. She was so excited looking at bridal shower stuff I don't want to burst her bubble but I would much rather spend the weekend in my PJ's watching movies. Should I just suck it up and let her plan the party? Thanks, Carla
  8. What a cute idea! I found the instructions you need to make your own: DIY Ribbon Wands Here are a couple picture I found on google images: Not a wedding but I love the how its colored: By the way, noticed your username. Are you getting married in Vegas by chance? My FI LOVES Vegas! Has ever since he was a kid. We actually were considering having our wedding there at one point.

  10. When I was MOH for my friend I gave mine after the best man.
  11. Getting a dress wet, for most materials, will not ruin it. The little know known secret is that most bridal shops actually wash the dresses you try on in washing machine on delicate. Most brides will tell you that when they come out of the ocean the dress is actually cleaner than when they started.
  12. Here is one of the ones we are considering for ours: Basically it is your picture with text on vellum over the top. I hate the bow so we are going to be using something else instead. And we are putting it in a pocket fold envelope Carla
  13. Hi All, Our wedding is set for December 2010. We enlisted a TA about 6 weeks ago and he was amazing when we first started but lately has not been very good. He emailed us 3 weeks ago and let us know he had been in the hospital for emergency surgery. Said he was recouping and as soon as he got back he would send us the info. Still have not heard from him, not even an update. How long should I wait to email him again? I don't want to feel like I am a bridezilla. The plan was to do a site visit this fall. We are waiting for him to get back to us with the resort research he did so we can start creating our site visit list. Am I being too impatient? Thanks ladies, Carla

  16. Thank you all so much!! We are going to use #1 for our main monogram. For very small images under an inch where the text for #1 will blur we will use a variation of #3 but without text on it and a different color pink for the 'C'. Thanks again for your opinions!!
  17. I am a 2010 bride too! Here is what we are doing. 1.) By word of mouth, emails and mail let everyone know the time of year you are looking at, a target date if you have one and a general price range so they can start saving. No one can book airfare this early anyway and that is usually the one that you can't change the date on without fees. 2.) Send out STD's about one year before with booking info. 3.) Send out Invites 4-6 months out. That help? Carla
  18. What about these: Found them at Monogram Candy Jars - as low as $1.25 each | Personalized Candy Jar Favors Whats your theme? Is there something unique you could tie into?
  19. YEA! Another 2010 Bride!! Here is my plan of attack for my DIY because I have 2 years: 1.) Mongrams 2.) STD's 3.) Invites 4.) Decor 5.) OOT That is it in a nut shell. I will attach my "to-do"/checklist since it is VERY detailed and each section has due dates. Let me know if this helps, Carla PlanningWed.xls
  20. I wanted to do this too. Does anyone know what kind of bandwidth these resorts are using for this? A low bandwidth will cause it to only send a image every couple seconds and it will look very choppy....

I shrunk it down to about an inch when it prints and here is what it looked like. I got lucky cause it is still pretty readable.
  22. The orange ones are called mango calla lilies. There are different shades, some with more yellow and some with more orange. I am actually doing a whole bouquet of those. And I think by the texture of the petals that those are fake ones. Carla

I can't help with all of it but this might answer part of your question. I took this from our STD's: Quote: We have chosen the Riviera Maya for our destination wedding. The beautiful white sand beaches and lush rainforest make it the perfect location to start our lives together. While we would love everyone to come, we understand that because of the distance and cost not everyone will be able to be with us in the Riviera Maya. So we will be holding a celebration in Michigan upon our return home. Please do not feel bad if you are unable to attend our wedding. While we hope you will be able to come, the greatest gift you can give is to celebrate with us whether in the Riviera Maya or at home in Michigan.
