So far I've reserved the reception hall at the Church, purchased some of the flowers for the reception & the wedding ceremony itself, and some thank you cards that I got a killer deal on! $1.00 for a pack of 50 at Wal-Mart!!! Oh and I have bought some glass globes and red flower floating candles for the centerpieces at the reception. Sounds like your making progress wedding date twin! Keep it up! -
Cool(literally) Favor Idea

Very COOL (hahaha, I crack myself up!) idea! But seriously, I'd love to get that as a favour. -
IYO- where is best spot to have pictures printed?
seaprincess replied to Jacqueline's topic in Random Thoughts
I always print my photos at Walmart and I am always happy. I send them through the website and pick them up when I get the email. I never bring the memory stick in though. -
I've posted about this before, but my boxer LOVES undies. Mine or my FI's, he doesn't care. Last week I was poopy-scooping in the backyard when I came a across my favorite (and most expensive) thong in a poop!!!! I was wondering where they had gone! I was shocked and sad for having to throw them in the poop bag.....also a bit confused as to how he had swallowed them whole!!! Anyways, I feel you on not being able to have anything nice.

Another way to be more energy efficient is upgrade old windows and weatherproof all doors. Keeps cool air in (or out) depending on the season by reducing drafts etc. Using a programable thermostat will help too. You can program it to go off and on at the same time each day. For example, have it go off or down when you leave for work and turn on right before you come home. You can also make it do that at night when your sleeping...there are even rebates available if you upgrade to a programable thermostat. My city also offers a rebate on your water bill if you upgrade to a more water efficient toilet (low flush). You have to take a pic of the old toilet in place, take a pic of the new efficient toilet installed and show proof of purchase... I'm definetly changing all the old toilets in my house in the next year!

Who all gets a Boutonnière???
seaprincess replied to beth's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
We've actually decided that only my FI will be wearing a bout, not even the groomsmen....but I think if you want to honour the fathers and grandfathers by having them wear one too, that great!~ -
Welcome Theresa!

I love this thread! In fact, I think I am starting to drive Jamie crazy w/ my efforts to make our home more green - I have recently started spewing facts about how environmentally friendly/unfriendly certain things are... * I'm crazy about recycling * Energy efficient light bulbs * We have two cars, but use only one on a daily basis - I take public transportation to work * Stopped buying bottled water, use filtered water in reusable bottles * Canvas grocery bags and a thermal insulated bag for perishables while grocery shopping * Switching all my cleaning products to 'green' products * Use a reusable lunch tote instead of plastic or paper * Use reusable containers in place of plastic bags for snacks etc * Change my bills to e-bills to cut down on paper * Buy our meat (and freeze it) and non perishables in bulk so there is less packaging waste * Buy local and organic as much as possible, although difficult in the winter * Unplug all appliances and chargers not in use * Refurbishing used furniture instead of buying new (reuse) * We will be replacing our lawn mower with a push mower when our current one dies We are still working on going completely organic, but vegan is dedication I just don't have! Good work Amy!

Group Rate Costs
seaprincess replied to Excited_Ottawa's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
I'm also from Ottawa and ended up booking with Lisa from Marlin Travel on Richmond Rd. She was at the bridal fairs, so I'm wondering if you O-town girls met her. She is super busy, but specializes in DW so it was worth it for me. She also requested a 100 deposit for the first consult, but when I went in and met her, I knew exactly what I did and didn't want as far as amenities etc. I didn't know where I wanted to go yet, but she helped guide me. At the end of the meeting, she didn't end up charging me the $100 (which by the way goes towards the trip if you book, but it covers her cost if you take her research and book elsewhere). Because I knew what I wanted, it was a quick, no fuss meeting so she didn't charge me. Our group rate is $1665 per person from the week of January 24, taxes included. When 21 people booked, one of us is free, when 43 people booked both of us are free. We now have the 43 people we need and so both of us are going for free. She was even able to upgrade us from the original hotel where we were booked to a better one for the same price! Originally we wanted Feb, but prices go up in Feb and March and start going back down after that b/c of spring break etc. Hope everyone is having good luck with their TA's. Even though Lisa is busy, she has been so helpful, patient and knowledgable. So far, very positive! -
I think that I’m going to explode if I don’t get this out…

Try to relax (even though I know it must be tough) and think positive. The dress issue can be resolved...sell the first dress and buy a new more belly accommodating dress. Focus on staying strong and healthy now and don't worrry about a drink every now and then in the past few weeks. And finally, congratulations! -
I just got my bouquet in the mail it is amazing! Here are the pics she sent me before she shipped! It got a bit squashed with shipping but I love it now that I was able to fluff it up! The quality of the stems is amazing, they look and feel real! I got my bouquet and my FI's bout along with a free flower for my hair. __________________________________________________ ______________ I just ordered my custom bouquet from the ebay store Plumerias Wedding Flower Boutique! I don't have a proof of the actual bouquet b/c she has to order the orchids in for me, but I am sooooo excited to see the finished product. I've had a vision since the beginning for a beautiful white orchid bouquet and I am so happy to have that vision created. The orchids: The plumerias: The link to the store: eBay Store - Plumeria's Wedding Flower Boutique: Silk Wedding Bouquet Sets, Wedding bouquets, Silk Flowers Thanks WifeToBe for the link to the store! Roberta has been amazing to work with so far!

I found my dress! But....
seaprincess replied to AlmostaSeif's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Is it a DB design? Could you look at another davids bridal dress with simalar fabric and beading but in the ivory to compare? Usually, the colour issues are worse when you pair two fabrics, like lace and something else for example. If you love it, I say go for it and exchange it if you hate it, but I'm sure it will be fine. -
My FI and I are having our engagment/house warming party on Saturday night and I was just wondering what happens at these things? I have only ever been to one engagment party so I really have no idea! So far family and close friends are to come around 4pm and extended friends around 5pm. We are having a BBQ, providing the food, and having a cake. My MOH mentioned something about me having to make a speech and having an icebreaker game (like at camp?!?!) at the beginning. The ice breaker sparked this question. What did you/are you doing at your engagment party? Or if you've had a house warming, add your thoughts in for that too since its a joint PARTAY!

Can't wait to hear what it looks like in person! I emailed her today to begin designing my bouquet too! -
She has the most perfect little face --so, so, so cute! Congratulations to you and your husband!

The EdenH resort just opened this year and is supposed to be luxurious, but I haven't been. I'm getting married at the Grand Palladium Bavaro but it isn't new. Good luck scouting and happy planning!

Unfortunetly for me, the closest DB is in Syracuse, NY I think. So it would be about a 6 hour drive aka a long day trip or a weekend trip... If we still can't find them by Sept, I think we'll consider it. Plus, my one BM is on the other side of the country so she'll have to give us her measurements... Its a bummer cause the colours and styles are great.
