I also thought that when I saw the e-mail I had possibly won. I didn't want to get too excited but I did anyways:) So I quickly read the e-mail and noticed that I was not the winner but that's okay. My date is right after Evelyn's in Mexico so I'm lucky enough to still have Tammy and Trish photograph my wedding! So I still feel like I won even know I didn't win this contest.
  2. A lot of people are not aware that resorts have many different sections. I would just send out your information with Riu Palace as the place you are staying and getting married at. Also if you have a travel agent you can let them know to only give pricing information for the Riu Palace for your guests.

It was a beautiful set up but port-a-potties...I'm sorry that just didn't cut it. I guess they had a sewer and too much usage is not good.
  4. I haven't heard anything about the "Bride Guide" I'd love to get a copy of that also. On another note, the resort dropped their prices. Our travel agent was able to save us $150 per 7-nights per room based on double occupancy. If you ladies haven't booked you might want to check that out. And for those of you who have maybe there is something your travel agent can do to help you out. Usually the travel agents can only drop your rate if you purchased the travel insurance but sometimes there are ways around it.
  5. That is so bizarre. Especially since it seems like no one has even heard of him.
  6. Wow has anyone purchased and received these yet? How was the quality? What material is it made out of?

Do you have your wedding time confirmed? I requested a 5pm ceremony time and on the paperwork Damary's sent me is says they will request like 2pm or something. I think it depends on the schedule of the person performing the ceremony.

You don't have to confirm anything and no questions are asked.
  9. We've traveled with FI kids and they have never asked for proof of age or anything! I don't think they care at all. The only time you have to show or use your passport is at the airport through immigration. I'd say go for it and you shouldn't have a problem at all.
  10. Oh this is so exciting! It's going to be a long month waiting to see who wins:)
  11. I stayed at the Gran Bahia about 8 months after they first opened and it was amazing! Everything was really good. It seems like there was some staffing issues but nothing that bothered us. The beach area is off to the side at this resort so it's a little weird from what I'm used to but it was still very nice. I think you'll be happy with this resort if you decide to have your wedding there.
  12. Our engagement story is not very romantic and I always start off by saying "I almost got engaged in the bathroom!" So a week before we got engaged my fiance said he wanted to take me out for a nice dinner to celebrate getting his new motorcycle. He wanted one for a long time and was going to be paying for it and picking it up the following Sunday. So I figured we'd just go dinner in town no big deal but he suggested we make a reservation at this fondue restaurant called the Melting Pot. So I made a reservation for 7pm Saturday evening. I knew our engagement was always a possibility as we'd already looked at rings several times. So the week leading up to our dinner reservation I had a feeling that he was going to propose at dinner. There was several things that Mario didn't pay off very well so I kept getting hints. I ordered a new dress to make sure I had the perfect "look" for our engagement dinner. So the day of he had to work until 5pm, I went and got a manicure and pedicure and did some running around. Mario kept insisting that I be ready to go just after 5pm when he got home but our reservation wasn't until 7pm so we didn't need to leave the house until 6pm. I couldn't figure this out because he was going to propose at dinner, what was the rush? So I was just about ready when he got home. He showered and I was waiting for him in the living room so we could leave. That's when he called me into the bathroom to "help" him put his necklace on because he had just put lotion on his hands. Apparently he had the ring box in his pocket and couldn't figure out what to do because it was sticking out. So he was facing the sink so I couldn't see it. I put his necklace on and he turned around and gave me a hug and told me how much he loved me and was so excited about getting his bike. I told him I loved him too and was also excited he was getting his bike. Then he told me he just had one thing he needed to take care of before he got his bike. That's when I realized that he was not going to propose at dinner that it was about to happen right there in the bathroom! So I said "like right here?" and then we moved into the bedroom and he took the ring box out and asked me to marry him. The ring poped out of the box when he opened it up and I had to catch it. Of course I said yes and then the wedding planning officially started. We're getting married at the Grand Riviera Princess in Riviera Maya on November 14th, 2009. We're having a beach ceremony with about 30-40 guests. We always wanted to get married barefoot on the beach. We love traveling around the Carribean and hanging out at the beach so it just made sense for us to get married on the beach. We chose Grand Riviera Princess because it looks like a wonderful resort and we were able to get great rates for our guests. We look forward to possibly being able to work with you and your assistant for our destination wedding. Thanks, Tiffany
  13. Did you take the other test yet? I've heard that you are supposed to take the tests during your first urine of the day. I guess there's something different in there that makes it more accurate. Like the other ladies have said the only thing you'll need to change is your dress alterations. Otherwise people already know your getting married and your baby just decided she/he wanted to be a part of all the wedding fun:) Good Luck!
  14. Your mugs turned out awesome! We also ordered from the same company. The lady was amazing to deal with and super quick! I actually split the order with another girl on here and we just had them shipped together. That way we only had to get 50 each because I don't know what I would do with 100 of them. The lady sent us each a seperate paypal invoices and it worked out perfect. I wish I would have seen your spanish touch before we did ours, I really like that. We just had our monogram printed on both sides.
  15. Has anyone else used idooriginals.com? The look great and I'm getting ready to place an order with them but I just wanted to get some feedback from anyone who has used them. Did you like the way they turned out? I really like the one they show with the last name letter in Brown and then the two first name initials in the blue color. Any feedback would be great. Thanks, Tiffany
  16. I am getting married at the Grand Riviera Princess November 14th! I think November is a great month to get married in the Carribean. By then huricane season is pretty much over so we should get some great weather! I really liked the pictures I've seen of the Gazebo and everyone who has been there has said such great things about it. Right now we are booked for the arch on the beach because the whole reason why we're going away is to get married barefoot in the sand. But who knows maybe when we get there and see the gazebo we'll change our minds:) Good luck in all your planning! Parissa, did you book your trip yet? When are you arriving? We'll be there until the 20th and then we're headed over to Cozumel for our honeymoon.
  17. I mentioned it to my mom the other day and she didn't seem to excited about it. I think the problem is that if they haven't seen pictures they really don't know or understand. And when you call it "trash" the dress they think literally since they haven't seen pictures. I'm doing it and I'm not getting another dress because I feel like what's the point then. I'm also planning on wearing my dress again at my AHR, I'm sure it should be fine after a good dry cleaning. I mentioned the idea to my sister and she thinks it's a great idea! She wants to go along and call it a trash the wedding parties dresses or something like that:) Not sure if I like that idea but we'll see. I don't want a big group outing to my photo session with my husband!
  18. GoCubs! The dresses and necklace are amazing! Where did you get the necklaces?
  19. Welcome to the forum! I'm getting married on November 14th at Grand Riviera Princess. I also wanted a nice resort that was reasonably priced for my family and friends who wanted to join us. We found an amazing deal for this resort. It's 4 stars and only just over a year old so maybe that's why the rates we got are really good. You might want to check it out.
  20. Congratulations Courtney! Please post the response to the others questions above as well as a few more I have:) Did you use the resort photographer? How did your pictures turn out? Please most some of them. Did you do a TTD session? Who did you use for this? Is there anything you would suggest to us future brides at this resort that you didn't think of before you went? I look forward to hearing your response on how it went. Thanks, Tiffany
  21. I was just looking over the prices I've received and his seem very reasonable. I'd love to hear from someone who used them. Our resort doesn't allow outside photographers so I was just planning on using them for a TTD session.
  22. Great idea. How did you get your logo on them? I am so not crafty but I think this is a great idea.
