  1. Ugh I can't help but I am in pretty much the exact same situation so I know how you feel! People just don't realize how crucial it is that they book with your group!!! I've been so anxious and losing a lot of sleep myself these last few days, trying to sort things out before our group booking closes at the end of this week. Is there any way your friend could get a refund through Priceline and rebook with your TA? Even if you had to pay a cancellation fee it sounds like it might be worth it for you! Good luck, sorry to hear you are going through this - so frustrating and stressful
  2. Another question for anyone who knows: how big of a difference do different travel dates make? We've got 11 or 12 rooms starting on December 3rd, and then another 2 rooms starting on the 4th, and another 3 starting on the 5th.... Â My TA says she is sure that all the rooms starting on the 3rd will be counted but she isn't sure about the rest, since technically I think the rooms are all supposed to be the same travel dates!
  3. Thanks Tammy. Â TA says it is definitely only double occupancy rooms, but that ultimately we won't know until after final payment (this Thursday) which will be too late for me to add on a person to my photog's single occupancy room (to make him a double) if she's right. I called the resort this morning to see if they could help me out, since they will be the one's to determine the rebate, but they said I had to talk to my TA. Seems like there is no way to no for sure (which I think is just crazy), and I have been having such a string of bad luck lately I feel like no matter which way I gamble it's going to be the wrong way
  4. I'm hoping that a travel agent, or a past bride who has done the 6th room free promo at Dreams, can help me.... I'm so confused! Â I have 20 rooms booked at Dreams Riviera Cancun for my wedding. 17 of them are double occupancy and 3 of them are single occupancy. My travel agent all along has been inconsistent in terms of telling me whether single occupancy rooms count towards this promo: at first she told me they would (but that obviously that would mean that your "free" room would be the lowest value room, thus the single occupancy rooms) and now she tells me that they don't count at all. I participated in a Dreams Riviera Cancun webinar a little while ago and asked one of the participating travel agents on there about this and she said that usually the resort will count single occupancy rooms. My TA is telling me though that for all of the groups she has done so far on this promo that only the double occupancy rooms have counted. Â Is there any way to find out for sure about this what the resort will do? I really don't know who to believe! The thing is that if she's right I could add a second photog to my photog's room (switch him from being single to double occupancy) to make it 18 double occupancy rooms and then get a whole room free... I can't afford to pay for a second photog normally but I would be stupid not to book one if this is actually the case! Â Any help you can give me right now would be SO appreciated - thanks!!!
  5. Let me just say that you girls are crazy active - I'm impressed!!! Â I did my EA active (Wii) workout this morning - I've been doing it for a few months now and have lost 10lbs Two more months and another 10 to go to reach my goal...
  6. I'm interested in the lip balm and the Tylenol - PMing you!
  7. Â The fee to use a restaurant for a private group is the same as what you would pay if you have your reception on the pool deck, or beach, or wherever. There is no savings, it's just another alternate place you can have your reception. Â
  8. There are other DJs, but you would have to talk to the WC to see who else they use/recommend. The price is $300/hr regardless. Â I've booked Doremixx because I've heard such good things about them on here and Ivan has been great to work with so far. For that hourly rate everything you need is included: lighting, sound system, etc. They provide all the music, like a DJ would anywhere. But of course you can request and customize according to your own tastes. I don't think you would want them to entirely MC your event (but past brides chime in if I'm wrong here! I'm personally having someone else be the main MC), but they will make announcements etc if you are just looking for something basic in that regard. Also included with Doremixx (not sure about other DJs) are balloons and other fun favors, and cold fireworks. I'm really excited about those extras!
  9. Hmm, well the reason I'm confused is because of things like this that I've seen: http://travelagents.applevacations.com/uploadeddata/nwc/wl/12841529399090.pdf Â
  10. Sounds like you really had to jump through hoops to get them but I LOVE your mugs!!!
  11. You have to book your DJ through the resort (last I heard, but it seems like lots is changing with the WCs changing!), so you can request Doremixx but you go through the resort to book him. I believe the resort charges $300 per hour (plus tax).
  12. You can just do a quick google search for this, which I did, and here is the website: http://www.adventurephotosmx.com/index.html#/drerc-ps-2/
  13. I heard that this new law only affects transactions over $100 USD, and also that tipping was still fine in USD - is that right?
  14. I agree with hat0112 - would it be possible to move the DW to a later date? Maybe consult with your dad, and his doctors, and find out when is likely a good time. You could even have it on your AHR date of April 30th if you wanted, and then also move back your AHR. With a reason like this, people would TOTALLY understand! Â Regardless, I'm so sorry about your dad. This is a really tough situation
  15. Wait, is it on Wednesday or Thursday? I thought it was on Wednesday??
  16. Â Â Since our photog is staying at the resort with us, all that other stuff is included: rehearsal dinner, TTD, etc. So I really have no need for any other photography. I didn't think that it would work out for them to act as "second" photographer, so we will likely just not use the resort photogs at all. Â
  17. Welcome! Is Las Palapas in Playa del Carmen (sorry, it sounds familiar but I haven't heard much about it... )? If so, you're not too far from where I will be! Let me know if I can help you out with a photographer - it was one of the first things I booked for that exact reason you are saying, I know the good ones book up early! Â Good luck, if that's all you have left to do it sounds like you are in good shape though! I feel like I have all the major things in place, but so many little details left to take care of... sigh.
  18. Yay - Gaby got back to me with the dimensions for the beach chuppah!! Â According to her, the chuppah is 2.6 metres wide, 2.8 metres tall, and each post is 3 inches in diameter.
  19. Boooooo I can't make it Advanced statistics class Wednesday nights - yuck!
