Hello ladies, For anyone who's been to Dreams Cancun, what can you tell me about their theme nights? I've heard that they have Mexican and Carribean buffets on the beach on certain nights. Specifically I'm wondering what nights there are or are not special theme buffets, and also if it is always the same schedule? I would feel kinda bad if I scheduled my wedding on a day that had a really cool theme night going on and my guests had to miss it.

Dreams Cancun Contract Options

I have another question regarding the cost of the dinner reception: does anyone know what the cost is for kids, or are they free? Obviously they are not drinking, and not eating as much either, so you would think that they might let them go for free or quite cheap. -

I know this probably makes no sense, but you'll know what I mean when you get there. Thanks for your description of the wind Jill. Sorry, I know it must be hard to explain the wind! lol I'm ok with breezy, just not "pulled the veil out of my head", "blew hats away", "blowing sand in ppl's eyes"... stuff like that. Can I ask one, ok make that two, more questions about the wind? First, is it a warm breeze or a cool one? Second, are there times of the day and/or parts of the resort that are not (or are less) windy? It seems like the tower pool/wedding gazebo area just before sunset is what I am hearing "windy" comments about.

Bangs pulled back
Princess402 replied to LeXiee's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Ooh I'm curious about this too! I have spent my whole life never having bangs and then just for a change got them last year... I really like my bangs but now I'm engaged and don't really want to wear bangs when I get married so I would love to find a way that I could avoid growing them out but still not wear them as bangs in my wedding pics. Clipped back but puffed up a bit in the front sounds good... if anyone comes across any wedding hairstyle pics of this please post them! -
My Bridesmaids' Gifts
Princess402 replied to Mel's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
WOW this stuff is great! I'm very jealous of all you crafty women out there because the things at your wedding will be so unique... maybe I will have to start tapping into my crafty side (if I have one! lol). Your bridesmaids are going to love these! And I also think it's super cute that you have "bride" stuff for yourself =) -
So all of these flowers are included options with the Ultimate package? These are pretty nice! I wonder if you are just paying more to customize? But yeah I mean I think most brides might like to customize a bit... as long as you're not asking for expensive exotic flowers I don't know why they should charge you more for it!

Mother of Bride Color?

I like the coral, and since it is a color that is in the flowers it will coordinate! -

Totally! I think that will be such a unique experience for everyone, and so beautiful! I have to admit I am a little concerned about the wind too... guess I'll have to lurk on here and get some more reports on the "wind factor" before making a final decision. -

I guess that's where the cocktail hour comes in. I don't know!!!! Has any other Dreams Brides had a cocktail hour and wished they didn't? I personally think the cocktail reception is a GREAT idea for something to keep everyone occupied and happy while pics are going on, and in my dreams I would love to have it, but yeah I'm likely going to have at least 40 guests so if you add the package and 20 extra people for cocktail reception and reception... not to mention DJ and photography... all of a sudden it's like yikes I can't afford this! Gotta cut costs where I can! From what I have heard there is a bar right inside the tower lobby. I haven't been to Dreams before, but I'm thinking that people can just go in and grab a drink and then head outside and hang out on the terrace? I was even thinking of giving the bartender a big tip to have tequila shots and limes ready for everyone following the ceremony so we could have a quick toast Mexican style! Then everyone could just get their own drinks from the bar as they like, as they would on any other day of their stay. You could even still have the mariachis playing out on the terrace for everyone... would just be lacking appies and waiter service but would still have drinks and dancing and fun... anyone have any thoughts as to whether this would work well?? -

Thanks for posting all this info! I'm starting to think that I might scrap the typical cocktail hour and just try and negotiate some extra ppl at dinner... besides, people can just go to the bar between the wedding and reception anyways for free... it just seems like a lot of extra pp charges if you consider cocktail hour AND the reception dinner. -

Thanks for the menu info (and thanks Kat for the points to view it!). This is so interesting because it's totally different from what's posted on the Dreams Cancun website... anyone know why? And again to me it looks on the website like the gold and silver menus are priced the same... for the packages and the extra pp. Jill, do you mind sharing the pricing info you have for gold and silver? -

I'm wondering about the Dreams Salad too! And I also think it's weird that the Gold and Silver menus seem to be priced the same (according to the website). And this goes for cocktail hour too! It would be great if you could save some money or feed more people as part of your package if you picked the silver menu... as it stands now I don't know why you would want to... -

Anyone else heard anything about Dreams Riviera Cancun? The pics on the website look beautiful! I know it's not going to be done until 2009, but I was thinking about an early 2010 wedding... anyone know if they would have a WC yet? -

I haven't played with bubbles in years so am not sure if they would just pop right away with the wind or if they would float around and look pretty. What do you all think? I'm thinking about doing bubbles too! I was planning on just giving the guests all little bubble wands at the ceremony, but this bubble machine has me intrigued.... in any case I think that the bubbles would actually look very pretty (someone else on here had said something about them reflecting the light and colors in a cool way?).... and I think even if the guests have to blow the bubbles themselves this could actually turn into a surprising amount of fun! Especially for the kids of course, and maybe this would also give them something to do while pictures are being taken after the ceremony?

I went to a little Carribean island, Coco Cay, on a Royal Carribean Bahamas cruise last year - LOOOVED it! The sand and water were like something out off a postcard, as are most of the pics posted in this thread! I am honestly amazed that places like this REALLY exist! In planning my DW an awesome beach and water are really really important to me, so when I was thinking of Mexico my mom suggested the Carribean side so that maybe we could see that amazing water and sand again! I've never been to Mexico before so does anyone know how Mexico (Carribean side) and the Carribean (i.e. Bahamas) compare in terms of sand and water?
