  1. I love all the 80s movies suggestions! On that theme, I have to add my favorite move of all time: Dirty Dancing.
  2. W-O-W, Michelle you did such a freaking awesome job with that album!!! You made that bad photography fab! You must be so happy with the results

  5. Welcome to the forum Abbey!!! I'm a December bride as well! For so long now it's felt like so far away, but now it's starting to creep up faster and faster, I know! Good luck with all your planning, you came to the right place
  6. Welcome Bridget!!! There are so many great resorts to choose from in the Riviera Maya, it almost a bit overwhelming! Dreams has a great reputation as far as weddings go, is fairly upscale (but not necessarily TOO pricey), and is family friendly. I wanted my two nieces to be my flower girls so family friendly was a must for me as well. Good luck with all your planning
  7. Welcome, and good luck to you in finding the perfect place for your wedding! I'm also getting married in the Mayan Riviera (and am also a December bride) so I know how many great options there are, and how hard it can be to decide!!!

Arg. We did send out save the dates though last fall, and all the booking info etc is on our website, so it's not like people are totally out of the loop or lacking information. But some people are not too Internet savy so don't seem to realize that they can find out everything they need on our website, or for whatever reason seem to be waiting for an "official" invitation before making their decision as to whether to come. Realistically I guess I will be sending my invites out sometime in May!

I searched for it for a month to try it on, sadly when I finally found the ONE sample on the east coast, it wasn't in my size and I had to have a very tiny friend try it on. But I still love it: Wow, that's gorgeous!!! It doesn't look that hot, but I guess I will have to take your word for it! Who's the designer?
  10. Omg, too funny!!! That could be a silly idea... or it could be a BRILLIANT idea! Lol. Not sure. I can't see having that on you all day, but it could save you for a little while I bet! As long as it wasn't actually ice, just one of those cold packs that you activate by popping or whatever. Can you show us your dress? I'd love to see this beauty that's worth sweating over!
  11. Hey girls, I have a random question... what are you doing for shoes? Especially for those of you who have already been there, what would you recommend? I'm definitely thinking flat or wedge sandals for the beach, but would like to kick it up a notch for the reception with a fun pair of heels! We are having our reception on the pool deck though and I started wondering whether heels would be a problem in terms of getting them stuck between the slats of wood on the deck... am I being crazy or should I be wary of a skinny heel for the reception?
  12. You sound just like me when I joined! Don't worry, this forum will help you figure it all out Congrats on your engagement!!!
  13. Congratulations on your engagement and welcome to the forum! You have totally come to the right place to plan a destination wedding! Hopefully I will see you on the Dreams Riviera Cancun thread. Tons of useful stuff there if you are able to set aside some time and have a read through. When are you planning to get married? I will be there in December

The only reason I didn't go with it was because it was quite heavy. Totally agree, I tried it on yesterday and it is stunning!!! Even more so in person than in pictures. It was significantly lighter than the Maggie Sottero Ambrosia dress (which was the dress I first fell in love with) though so I felt like I was doing well actually! But you're right, it still is a lot of dress for the beach. Anyways, back to yesterday though, I have an update... when we were on the way to the changeroom with the Private Label dress I spotted another dress on a manequin that really caught my eye and asked the consultant if I could try on that one as well. I tried on the Private Label dress and as I said, it was truly beautiful, and looked great on. Very figure flattering. But then I tried on the other dress that I had them take off the manequin and that was it, I was truly in love! I think this was fate, tracking down the one store in the Vancouver area that had the Private Label dress, and they just happened to have this dress on a manequin for me to see, otherwise I don't know if I ever would have found it! It's a Blue by Enzoani dress, style Caldera: It's a little pricier than I would like, but really I got the feeling that it was "the one". And how do you go back from that? I'm going to shop around a bit anyways and see where I can get the best price. I am planning to have it altered to have a corset back and sweetheart neckline. I knew that I wanted the perfect dress regardless of how heavy, non-beachy, etc, it was, but now I feel like I've found the perfect dress and it is light and perfect for the beach! The consultant even got goosebumps when I tried it on! So glad my Private Label search led me to this
  15. Welcome fellow December bride!!! Good luck with all your planning

We were in that draw too (the first entrants) and were REALLY hoping we would win... lucky you!
  17. Well I finally found a place to try on the Private Label dress! So I'm going to go do that on Saturday, and will let you know how it goes... can't wait

I'm having the train made smaller though as it's too long for me i think... Ambrosia - by Maggie Sottero I hope you don't mind me asking, but how short are you making the train? Are you just chopping off length, or are you actually having the roses/pickups, moved up as well to keep it all in proportion?

I'm a bit worried the rhinestones on the sandals might catch on my dress since it's lace, but I'll test it out WOW, I absolutely love everything you've chosen!!!

Congrats, The Royal looks SO amazing!!! Very happy with my resort choice, but if I wasn't having kids at my wedding, that's definitely where we would have gone!

Then again I also really like the idea of macaranas (to be bought in Playa)... This forum makes you want to do everything! I am doing palm fans for the ceremony (bought at OTC) that will have the handle wrapped in ribbon and a program attached. We are also doing OOT bags, not too over the top or full but will probably include playing cards, first aid supplies, gum, golf balls for the boys and starfish necklaces for the girls, etc. Also thinking of putting mugs in these, but from what I have heard about Dreams it seems like the glasses are big and they refill them often enough that your drinks don't get cold. Still I think cups are a cute idea, like maybe stadium cups, which would also be easier to pack. Alternately I was thinking custom water bottles (like that they could use for excursions off the resort). Not sure if we are going to also do favors at the table. I love the idea of doing maracas, or I have also seen starfish wine bottle stoppers that are lovely. But on top of the other things I'm sure guests won't be wondering where their favor is at, and I'm not sure we can afford more gifts (or have room to bring them all!).
