I asked myself the same question, like is this not how you make money, by booking holidays for people? And I'm offering to hand you 50 people who all want to go to the same place, basically a lay down sale, and you're not interested? I didn't get it either. Very frustrating. I finally did find a TA (recommended by my photog actually!) who is very responsive and excited to work with me, so thank goodness for that. All I can say about those other TAs is that it is their loss!

Aww sorry there are these problems in your family going on I know, it's tough cause everyone's worried I'm sure but really it's up to the couple, there's not much you can do. They are lucky to have you to support them through this though, and I'm sure that means a lot!

Thanks girls!!! I feel SO much better about my decision, you really affirmed what I was initially thinking when I planned our trip josietoms, reading your last post is really making me want to be "bored" right now too... especially since the weather is so crappy here today... can't wait to go to Mexico!

FI and I are planning to stay at our resort in Mexico for two weeks: one "wedding week" and one "honeymoon week". Most of our guests will just be there for the first week, though a number of them are even staying for 10 days or so. I was reading the Dreams Riviera Cancun FB fan page this morning and some posters were talking about how two weeks was too long to stay at this resort. That seems crazy to me - but what do you guys think? I personally think that given the wedding, all the family and friends we are travelling with, and also the number of nearby places/attractions we want to check out (Playa del Carmen, Isle Mujeres, Cozumel, Tulum, Xcaret, etc. etc.) during our trip, we need at least two weeks! And P.S., if for some weird reason we're "bored", at least we're bored in paradise! I've never been to Mexico before, nor to an all-inclusive anywhere (ridiculous, I know, that I am planning my wedding at one, lol!), so I could definitely use some advice from more seasoned travellers. My mom, for example, has been to Mexico a number of times and always stays two weeks (and in fact will not stay for less!), but the FB posters have me worried now...

Bridesmaids dresses

Saw this dress and I was yup I can commit to that blue! I think I'll have the flowers done in white and orange and it will look great. There's a thread on here for Orange and Aqua. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...colours-42709/ I think the aqua and dark yellow will also look really great! Thanks for this!!! Your BM dress is really cute btw! I'm thinking of something similar as I want to make sure that although the color is kind of dark, the style of dress is fun and light. I'm also thinking of doing yellow/orange and white flowers. Glad to know I'm not alone, and that this vision I have in my head may actually work, lol. -
For both economical reasons (sounds extravagant maybe, but seriously very reasonable IMO, and definitely an excellent value) and "LOVE my photographer" reasons (lol) I decided to bring a photographer from home, but if I were hiring someone from Mexico I would definitely look into Claudia Rodriguez and her team. Del Sol and Elizabeth Medina are also AMAZING, but are quite pricey. Not that Claudia Rodriguez is cheap, but I think her rates are a little more reasonable in comparison to the other two I mentioned. Other posters also had some great suggestions, and if you do a search there is a ton of similar information already on the forum - you just gotta look! Good luck

Hi Whitney, I can't help you with info on Los Cabos unfortunately but would just like to welcome you to the forum and wish you the best of luck with your planning! This forum has been such a huge help to me, and I hope you will find an endless supply of information and advice here as well

Yes I would have to say that I am addicted! And the closer my wedding gets, the more addicted I become! Everytime I have my laptop on (which to be honest, is pretty much anytime I am sitting down when I'm at home), FI mocks me in a silly voice and says "so, what's new on the forum?!" I'm like puh-lease, I am not that predictable. But admittedly even if I'm not looking at BDW when he says this, the screen is just minimized... and I'll be back to looking at it again in another minute or two, lol.

I can't figure out what time to set the wedding for as i'd like it to be during the day but i would also like to have pics after the cermony and some at sunset with fireworks at the reception or cocktail hour. I am thinking maybe 2 or 3pm for the ceremony. Any help you can provide would be great! There are a number of websites that list the sunrise/sunset times for Cancun, here's one: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldcloc...&afl=-11&day=1 My ceremony is at 3pm. I am just really hoping that we get started on time cause I want to be able to get in lots of pics before the sun sets! Quote: Originally Posted by kriztie707 Hi Ladies!! I am another December bride. We are in the process of booking a photographer right now. We sent out our save the dates back in January and just ordered our invitations which we hope to send out by the end of June. Its so nice to see other December brides! Sounds like you've got everything on track. Ordering my dress and finishing my invitations are next on my list, and then I will feel some relief (well maybe for a couple months anyways!). Who are you booking for photography?

I just want something for pics when we're announced as man and wife. I don't think anyone ever said that rose petals were not allowed at the beach; I think what they wrote was just a bit confusing. My understanding is that rose petals on the beach are allowed but must be real. However, if you are getting married at the gazebo (therefore off the beach), you may use fake petals. Is the beach beautiful enough without the sashes (that was my thoughts) but I DONT KNOW!!! I think it depends on the overall feel and style of your wedding. If you are going super simple and minimalist, or having a very small ceremony, then I think sashes are totally not necessary. But if you like them, do it! I love the look, and my wedding is going to be a bit bigger and more formal than some I think, so I'm definitely having chair sashes. I did get a monogram cake topper! Actually there was another bride on here selling some that she didn't end up using, and they just happened to be mine and FI's initials! So I got a super deal. Must have been meant to be They are really beautiful, and have swarovski crystals on them. I'm thinking that I will have flowers on the top tier of the cake and our two initials will be kidn of nested in them. I have to say though, personally I don't know if I would have sprung for them at the price most stores want for them. The cake isn't a super important thing for me though, so I just couldn't see spending too much on a topper. I think if the cake is important to you though then you should go for it!

Very nice! I just have to ask though... I read the part where you cleared up "a discrepancy" about the boarding pass save the dates, that they weren't really travel tickets - did you actually have people thinking that they were? I burst out laughing when I read this, thinking about folks calling to thank you for being so generous as to send them airline tickets! Those must have been some fantastic boarding pass STDs!!!

If we can't talk the rate down I'm afraid we aren't going to be able to get married here and we have already put our deposit down. Thanks! When is your wedding planned for? The time of year can certainly make a big difference in pricing. The intial rate for our group was $860pp for room only for 7 nights (airfare has to be booked separately) and kids are free, which I thought was fantastic. I think that was introductory pricing since the resort had just opened when we started putting down deposits; I know the rates have gone up since though, and that guests now booking into our group will hopefully get a good price, but it won't be that good! We are using a local TA but she deals with a U.S. based supplier called Travel Impressions. Hope this helps!

Some people throw weddings together in six months and others (like me) languish over it for two years!!! Have you got a dress yet? I've been doing a lot of dress shopping lately to try and cross that off my list soon!

What are you walking down the Aisle to?
Princess402 replied to reevesbride's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
I think I *just* figured out what I'm walking down the aisle to! I was listening to Jack Johnson on my iPod on my way home from work today and got tears in my eyes and a huge smile on my face listening to the song "Angel", and thinking about walking down the aisle to it. I just played it for FI and he loved it too and said it would be perfect! It's only 2 minutes long though - is that long enough? -

Can't make up my mind!
Princess402 replied to Train13's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I have to say, I think I recognize all of these dresses that's how much I have been dress shopping lately!!! (And I can't make up my mind either!) I have tried on Dress #2 myself, which also was pulled by the owners for me at 2 different stores to try on! It is very cute and fun to wear (great addition of the belt as well - I never tried that!). Not sure if you are looking for opinions but I have to say I just love the third dress on you, though I can totally see why you are torn between the last two. And actually they all look stunning on you!!! Thanks for sharing your pictures and good luck with your decision -
I was able to get this deal with Dreams: Book five rooms, receive the sixth room free! Plus, your group will receive a private check-in and welcome cocktail, 1 complimentary VIP room upgrade for every 10 rooms paid and $100 in resort coupons per person. There is a 3 night minimum, but it sounds like that would work for you. Also, I think it depends what time of year you are going as to whether you can use this promo. It says specifically in the terms and conditions that it's ony for social groups (i.e. not weddings) and so I know some girls going at high season were not able to use it. My advice would be to contact a TA that specializes in destination weddings (like the ones on here!) because they are usually pretty good at knowing who's offering the best promos and what your group might be eligible for. Good Luck!

I am curious about this as well as I was just trying on some dresses yesterday that were raw silk and the sales lady warned me that raw silk and water do not mix! She said a trash the dress in a silk dress is literally a trash the dress, unlike other dresses which easily survive. I was wondering if maybe she was being a bit dramatic about it!
