  1. i agree with the OP that wedding stuff is for both of you, but if you are having a work shower for the guy in the couple, i don't see any reason why the gift from work couldn't be something more guy-oriented. i think it's kinda fun, and will probably not make him feel "gay" for having a "shower." also, at baby showers, i usually like to get something that is solely for the "mom" aside from all the stuff that is really for the baby. tom registered for some more guy oriented stuff like his expensive razor, a big cooler on wheels (ok truth be told i wanted that too LOL), and some movies/games (since we registered at target). don't know if anyone will buy any of that stuff, but it doesn't hurt anyone for it to be on the registry. honestly, he's the one who does all the cooking in our house, so almost all the kitchen stuff on the registry is really for him LOL!
  2. i so wish i could do something like this ... very hot! (i don't have the nerve or the body) i know your FI will love them, and i'm sure many years from now you'll look back on these and be so glad you had them taken while you were still a sexkitten and not old and wrinkly! LOL

I was excited, but I'm waiting until next week before I weigh myself again. it takes so much restraint to not get on that scale every single day (or several times a day), doesn't it? i found that i weigh a little less right after the gym. not sure why, maybe from sweating? i don't think i sweat *that* much!
  4. great topic! it's been a running joke that once we say "i do" my in-laws are going to lock us in our room and not let us out until i'm knocked up, LOL. they are seriously grandbaby-hungry and i think a bit nervous because i'm already 36 (will be almost 37 by the time of the wedding). it was supposed to be the baby-making trip for my MOH and her husband too, so we could be prego together (now she's not coming at all, and that's a different story for a different thread). honestly tho, i know the ol' clock is ticking and all, but we will need to be looking for a house (no way we could raise a baby in that tiny apartment of ours) and my fiance will still have over a year of (full-time) school left, meaning we'll only have my salary to work with for awhile (and that's not much). so the timing isn't quite right for us yet, ya know? hey just noticed that you are 37, so you're probably going thru the same pressures i am LOL. do you have any children or would this be your first? if the timing is right for you and you both want it, i say go for it!

LOL ... i'm hoping my recent haircut will help out for next wednesday's weigh-in, LMAO! mom's are the best, aren't they? LOL you just wanted a reason to use the boob smiley, didn't you?!

Did you have to call her a lot or did you just do it via email? it is very frustrating in the beginning trying to get a response, and like kat said, they seldom make any sense! i don't know if things get lost in translation or what, but it's enough to drive ya crazy. like kat, i also had to get my travel agent involved in order to get a date nailed down. two months after i emailed them, and after my TA had already gotten us our date, i finally got a response to my first request, saying the date was taken (it was taken by ME)! and it got even more confused because in my frustration i had started emailing both coordinators, as well as having my TA email them. in the end it got sorted, but it was definitely crazy for awhile. get your TA involved. mine got answers pretty quickly (within the week). make sure you aren't just asking for one date. instead, give 3 or 4 options or even ask something like "what dates are available in may '09" ... you'll be more likely to get *something* that way i think. good luck!

I'm going to try to be really good in between. I'm also going on vacation in 2 weeks and I know I'll gain some there. Even if I stay the same I will be okay with that. i gained about 5 back in those 2 weeks too, and i swear i wasn't even doing much different than during the contest! wtf? glad it's gone again but it does have a habit of reappearing! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! mine was during the last contest and honestly, i didn't even try to be good LOL. birthdays, parties, and vacations are so hard ... don't deprive yourself TOO badly just don't let it get out of hand (like i usually do)!

Keeping my fingers crossed! haha "false positive" LMAO! yeah i think i lost 4 or 5 the first week last time and then just kept going up and down up and down, losing and re-losing that same 5. hopefully this time we can all keep it steadily going DOWN! thanks for all the congrats ladies ... i have a lot more to lose than most of you so trust me i'm not in the lead, 5.8 pounds doesn't equal a large percentage for me!
  11. i was one of the people who eharmony couldn't help LOL. i spent all that time signing up and filling out their personality profile quiz, answering as truthfully as possible, and got a "we're sorry" from them (you may have heard of this from the chemistry.com commercials). i forget the exact wording but something about it working by fitting you into a certain category and that i didn't fit into any of them ... i wasn't sure whether to be mad or proud? apparently their matching system can't work for 1/5 of the people who try to sign up? i wondered why they didn't just put all those people together LOL, but i'm glad they didn't because i probably never would have ended up meeting tom. all things happen for a reason!
  12. i would think that many if not most of us on here started out with plans for "the big wedding" and scrapped it. at least i know i did, since we are paying for ours completely by ourselves and we were looking at a guest list around 200. now that i'm opting for a much more intimate wedding in mexico (20-40 guests), i'm seriously wondering why it was so hard to cut people from our "home wedding" list. honestly at home, it was more about pleasing other people and satisfying obligations, while the destination wedding is about US (the way it should be)! welcome aboard and good luck! p.s. your travel & accommodations would be cheaper for both you and your guests if you go with mexico. airfare alone can be pretty steep to hawaii, and there really aren't many (if any?) all-inclusive options for your guests. so it will look cheaper on paper but then they'll need to add all their meals and beverages, and other entertainment needs. that said, hawaii's weather is perfect year-round, you don't need to work around hurricane season, it's gorgeous, english-speaking and American ... so no passports or weird requirements like several days in the country or blood tests (that i know of).
  13. woohoo! i had a great first week ... 5.8 pounds lost even tho i only got to the gym twice! some of that is due to my cycle i'm sure and that initial water-weight loss, but i'll take it! LOL ... and now i've re-lost the weight i lost in BL3, plus a bit! kicking it into high-gear this week. i told the new owner of the gym that i'm getting married next year so now she's gonna be on my ass like white on rice!

  15. technically, yes. we are both in mummers string bands (it's a philly thing) and he spotted me out at a party another band was having. he kinda asked around about me and who i was, and managed to get the screen name i used on a mummers online forum. he made a post that i "was hot" and "we should get together" LOL. i totally thought it was a joke, but responded anyway, and we started to IM each other outside of the forum. we finally met in person about two months later at a different mummers function. he's 9 years younger than me, so i didn't really give him the time of day for awhile. 3 months later, i decided to forget the age difference and give it a chance. anyway, meeting online can definitely work. sure, lots of guys are just out for one thing, and ladies need to be careful with meetups, but there are definitely a few good ones out there. i know because i got one!
  16. definitely don't let anyone rush you ... even if it means being a little flexible with your wedding date. i looked into those two resorts a little before i settled on dreams cancun. the price is right at riu, that's for sure ... but then dreams offered kids stay free and that clinched it for me. anyway i liked riu cancun slightly better than riu caribe, except that the sun goes down early at cancun (settles behind buildings leaving the beach in the shade). caribe seemed to fare better in that regard, and i think had a bigger stretch of beach too.
  17. the 2nd dress is beautiful and you do look great in it, but honestly it was almost a let-down after seeing the 1st one ... that 1st dress just has a definite wow-factor! i'm in LOVE with it but can't rock a low back with my body LOL.
  18. he was going to wait for our 2yr anniversary, but once he had the ring he couldn't wait so it was exactly 1 week shy of 2 years. honestly tho, i would have said yes after 2 weeks (and i am not impulse like that at all ... i was with my ex boyfriend 7 years). i've always heard that "when you know, you know" but i never believed it until i met him. our wedding date is 3 days after our 4yr anniversary.
  19. i like #1 better, but agree that the sweetheart neckline looks better on you. i think you should keep looking! you're very pretty and you're thin, so it shouldn't be too hard to find one that WOWs you, rather than "hey this one is OK" keep us posted! we love pics!
  20. i've been really wanting to get this done (my eye doctor actually suggested it because my eyes are very bad) but i just can't get over the fact that you have to be awake for the surgery. it's so clockwork orange the way they clamp your lids open ... i know several people who have had it done tho, and they all say it was the best thing they ever did for themselves! wish i wasn't such a chicken!
  21. did this meetup ever happen? if not, can we try again to get one together? and if it *did* happen, where are the pics? LOL

I just had a yummie sandwich: Dave's Killer Bread with 1 laughing cow light cheese spread on it and cucumbers. The bread is high calorie (120 a slice) but it is SO filling and good! It's the only bread I eat anymore. i heart that laughing cow cheese . i often use 1 wedge in place of cream cheese, or spread it on crackers (love it on triscuits). it's so good! i never think to put cukes on a sandwich ... sounds delish tho!
