That makes me feel so much better! yeah the sound guy really takes care of everything. you have nothing to worry about at all! i had a mini-freakout when i realized i never tested the cd i burned for the ceremony music ... for all i knew i handed them a blank cd or all the songs would skip. claudia (my WC) assured me that the sound guy would have checked out the cd beforehand to make sure everything was ok, and that it was his JOB to do so. made me feel so much better, and everything *was* just fine. i only wish i had put a few more tunes on the cd. for anyone doing a legal ceremony: do yourself a favor and have a song (or two) for the guy to play during the signing of your documents! this literally took HALF of the entire ceremony time to accomplish. i wish i were kidding. 6 people need to sign in triplicate, plus bride and groom need to thumbprint. if you are getting the video, be sure to have a disc of songs to hand the videographer. i didn't think ahead on this, so he just got our ceremony cd, which didn't include our first dance song or anything like that.
  6. unless they changed since last year, the rehearsal itself is free and def takes less than a half hour. really all it is, is a walk thru of how you're lined up, where to walk, where to stand, etc. that's it. no music, no officiant present, no practicing your vows or anything. only a rehearsal "dinner" has a cost, but honestly, i think that's a ripoff ... i mean how many dinners are you willing to pay for at an AI? just go to one of the restaurants with your bridal party and call it a day! ditto what jenn said about the music ... if you are renting the sound system, they adjust the music to fit your pace, not the other way around. trust that it will be totally seamless and perfect! when you get to where you need to be, sound guy will just fade it out.
  7. honestly, i actually would have liked to have had the buffet. i know it's not regarded as being as "elegant" as a plated dinner, but i usually find i enjoy the food more at weddings that have buffets, bc there are more choices for guests. besides, it forces people to mingle. i didn't have enough guests to be allowed a buffet, and i know i definitely had a hard time choosing ONE item to satisfy everyone's tastes and dietary needs, especially since so much of the menu is seafood and we had several guests who were allergic. we got lucky bc once we got there, claudia allowed us to change the surf and turf (filet and shrimp) to filet and CHICKEN. also FYI, they *will* accommodate special dietary needs; our one vegetarian said she really enjoyed the veggie lasagna they served her.

  9. well, CRAP, stacy. i thought i had it all completely figured out. thanks a lot, lol!

  12. the bose portable system can either be plugged in, OR can run on batteries for about 6-8 hours, depending on volume and other factors. the only real flaw of the bose system is that you cannot plug in a mic. not sure if there are newer versions out now that include that feature tho. oh also, connecting your iphone to play music does work, but the sound quality and volume isn't nearly the same as using the ipod. it just wasn't made to work with it. we rented the sound system for the ceremony only, and used our bose plus ipod for the reception.
  13. off the top of my head i know phillybride09 used him last year, and lilz125 did just recently ... you can see what they had to say as well as some pics under "wedding reviews"
  14. a year ago NONE of the dreams cancun brides were using him--everyone hired outside because we had only seen a few examples of his work and it wasn't very impressive. but since then there's been quite a few BDW brides who went with him and i have to say i really like his work! not sure if he stepped up his game or what, but the pics have been beautiful! i think everyone i know who used him would recommend him highly, and that says a lot! i don't regret my photographer choice at all (moments that matter, they were fabulous!), but just wanted to say that i've been liking juan's work lately ... a quality photog offered in the resort package is definitely another good reason to go with dreams!
