  4. yup. yes. exactly. unfortunately, we can't change the way people prioritize their life. my matron of honor (who is FAMILY, btw), after a year of "i'll definitely be there no matter what" called to say she won't be able to make it, because they are remodeling the house and won't be able to afford both. the changes they are making are all cosmetic, not like a new heater or roof. so when i read your comment about new couches, it definitely brought back the sting. i can't believe you had someone say they are going on two vacations! i think that's probably one of the most insulting excuses yet. bottom line is they'll all really be the ones missing out. the best revenge is to have the most fantastic wedding and trip ever ... without them!
  5. has to be A ... i don't even think B is really very dance-able, and while i love me some depeche, most people at the wedding (or at my wedding anyway, LOL) would have never heard that song (including my fiance!). and OMG to the girl who said she never heard any of them! way to make us all feel ancient!
  6. ahh first of all you're just barely a "plus size" girl. you're not obese and those sizes mean NOTHING. they want you to have to order up a few sizes so they can charge you extra for the bigger size, and then even more for alterations! i had a friend who was a real life 6, and needed a 14 wedding dress! ignore the size ... pretend that it's the way they size dresses in your destination country LOL. no one but you is ever going to know what size your dress is ... they'll only see how gorgeous you look in it! also, i hate those skinny b*tch salesgirls too, but in her defense, she was probably about to explain to you that there was no need to be upset over the dress not fitting because of the way wedding dresses are sized. i don't know when your wedding is, but don't wait too long to go back shopping ... the worst thing that could happen is you find your dream dress and it finally fits in a size that pleases you, and then you can't get it in time for the wedding! that would be a nightmare!
  7. i'm ashamed to admit i've been doing very poorly lately. seem to have lost my motivation. i need someone to slap me around or something. i may have to resort to printing out that "before" picture i took and hanging it on the fridge. and in the car. and on my computer at work.
  8. another good one is "father and daughter" by paul simon
  9. On our wedding website, we have a page of "thank yous" ... well I was sitting next to my mom while she read this for the first time: To our parents— with your marriages as our guide and inspiration, we look forward to a life full of love and happiness. well ... she didn't even make it halfway through reading it before she was SNORTING WITH LAUGHTER! i was a little put off that she thought it was hilarious that her marriage might be considered "inspiring" LOL ...

Trying to pick STDs now to get out asap. Haven't even thought about the dress yet... All of you who are already working on OOTs - I'm impressed - and jealous! if you just got engaged a few weeks ago you are doing GREAT! it took us about a YEAR to decide on a place, LOL! we are skipping the STDs (since everyone pretty much knows) and going straight to invites, which i *still* haven't finished. i don't have a dress yet either. LOL i suck!
  12. morgan, it must be hard having so many times that your meal isn't completely under your control. eating out is the worst! seems like you are doing the right thing with making the best choices you can make at these things. it can be way too easy to just give in to eating crappy food because it's available, so keep up the good work! congrats jill, and all you other LOSERS! hopefully i'll be back on the losing side next week!

Please let me know if you used either one! Thank you! i had never heard of them before, but i just clicked on a dress i liked and it was about $285. that's crazy expensive for a short BM dress, IMO. if you fall in love with one of them and your girls can easily afford them tho, go for it. they were definitely cute.

It's funny how we get so caught up in planning every detail that we start to emphasize the little stuff. Anyhow, I think what I will do is ask her what name she would prefer. I will give her the Flower Girl and Bride Helper title and see which one she would like and let her pick. i like the idea of letting her pick ... it will make her feel all the more special. i guess i really didn't care about the age of my flowergirl and ringbearer since my brides"maids" are my sisters who will be 50 and 49 at the time of my wedding! hell, i'm the "bride" and i'm 36, so my whole entire age scale is WAY OFF the norm! LOL
  16. i'm glad to hear i wasn't the only one in tears ... i thought i was just being stupid and hormonal, LOL! honestly yari, it really was a very touching slideshow. i refuse to watch it again tho ... can't start bawling at work!
  17. man i can tell it's "that time of the month" because i just totally burst into tears when i saw the pics of your daughter(?) crying, and then again with the pics of you dancing with dad. LOL, i'm a mess ... i should never look at stuff like this when i'm all hormonal! luckily the pics of you doing shots, dancing in the water, and the very cool fire dancer pics made up for it! LOL your pics are gorgeous and everything just looked perfect. love those BM dresses, and it's always a pleasure to see such an ECSTATIC couple. congrats again!
  18. definitely check out lyrics ... not sure all these would be appropriate for father/daughter, just looking for songs that are sorta "rock" ballads. i'll stand by you - the pretenders stand by me - john lennon good riddance (time of your life) - green day your song - elton john sweet child o' mine - guns 'n' roses i don't wanna miss a thing - aerosmith time after time - cyndi lauper or bon jovi drive - the cars wherever you will go - the calling
  19. sadly it seems i need to start shopping at the "salvation army" for mine ... but i guess i "can't complain" LOL!

  21. i think the reason she won't offer other items as trade for not using juan navarro for photography is that many of those other items are from outside vendors. maybe the only things she can "trade" are those things that come from the resort itself? at least that's the only thing that makes sense to me at all! this is what i'm sending her: Claudia, I appreciate your fast reply. With all due respect, "gazebo drapery only" is not comparable in price to Juan Navarro's photography, and therefore is not an acceptable or fair credit. If we chose not to use Juan Navarro, we should in exchange be receiving a credit valued at $600 (the cost of his package). What else (besides gazebo drapery) can possibly be traded if we do not want to use Juan Navarro for photography? For instance, could we trade for "gazebo drapery AND a longer upgraded video package" instead? i'll let you ladies know the outcome!
  22. yikes it rained on my wedding day this year and last year ... but not at all for at least 10 years before that (i got a little obsessed after seeing rain this year, LOL)!

Do the packages at Dreams Cancun include a legal wedding ceremony or is it just a symbolic ceremony? And do they help you with getting the blood tests/chest xrays that you have to have to get married in Mexico? Thanks! You can do a legal ceremony with the packages, but the fees for blood tests/translations/legalizations are not included in those package prices. Those are extra and total about $650-$700. The blood tests have to be done in Mexico, and will be done by a doctor they provide who comes to you at the resort (in fact I believe the blood test is done in your room at 8am the morning after you arrive?). You don't have to go anywhere off property in Mexico for any of the legal arrangements ... they arrange everything for you.

I was thinking of maybe my Welcome/Rehearsal Dinner there..Any reviews on it would be appreciated!! :-) paloma bonita is right outside of dreams, and is NOT included as part of the AI. from what i've heard the food and service are great, but pricey.
