Dress advice for girl with hips???
cougs replied to ~*petals*~'s topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
what about something between the two, like a trumpet skirt? i am VERY hippy and bottom heavy (17-inch difference between my waist and hips!) so i didn't dare try on anything fitted. honestly, i think you look great in the fitted one, keeping in mind that the dress in the pic is too small! i think if you and your fiance both love your curves, you should embrace them and go with the sexy one! what is the material tho? i would think it could end up being just as hot if not hotter because it's tight against your body. -
Where is everyone registering?

target. everyone loves tar-jay, and they are pretty much everywhere in the states. besides that, you can accept gift cards on your registry, which could be used for ANYTHING ... even photo-developing! also we figured target is pretty cheap. we don't expect gifts from anyone, especially those spending so much to come to the DW ... this gives them a cheap option if they're the type to insist on giving something. -

AHR questions and queries...
cougs replied to BlissfulMsMiranda's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
i think our AHR invites will be a combo wedding announcement/AHR invite, so we will probably include a wedding photo. it may just be in postcard format, which i think will lend itself to the casual nature of our AHR. -
Paper Hand Fans for Sale (100) pcs
cougs replied to chrisnessa's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
do you have a picture? are they folding fans or the flat panel on a stick type? -
good to know, but kinda sucks since i usually use snapfish for everything (usually comes out cheaper for me with pre-paid print credits). thanks for your review tho ... i have never made a photobook from any service and was wondering about page thickness, photo quality, etc. i intend to make books for myself, and both sets of parents after the wedding.

Proper way of asking for gifts???
cougs replied to emaya77's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
we registered as well, because friends and coworkers (and a few family members, especially those who can't attend the wedding) were harassing us! it is usually considered poor etiquette to say where you're registered on your invites. if anyone is going to throw you a shower it should be listed on your shower invitations tho! we also posted it on our wedding website. this is how we worded it, with a link to our actual registry: The greatest gift we could possibly receive is if you would join us in Mexico. We need nothing other than to be surrounded by our family and friends for our wedding to truly be a "wedding in paradise!" The costs of attending are substantial, and we wouldn't dream of asking anything more. Your "presence" will be our "presents!" That said, some of you are stubborn and will insist on gift-giving ... for you, we have registered at Target. -
they're nice! do you know if they also come scented? part of the reason for giving a travel candle is that sometimes rooms near the ocean/sea get a "musty" oceany smell. it's usually nothing a candle, room spray, or incense can't get rid of, but i know the smell does bother some people. i've seen it complained about on tripadvisor, for some resorts more than others.

LOVE it!!! ahhh ... if only ... wonder if this statistic is actually true? Quote: Originally Posted by Alyssa Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22% lower than the Christian Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. -
oh man, the salad thing just reminded me of something my IDIOT ex said once when we were out to dinner! waiter: "soup or salad?" idiot ex: "no thanks, i don't even like 'regular' salad!" HAHAHAHAHA he was thinking the guy asked if he wanted SUPER salad! the poor waiter was just so confused ... meanwhile, i had water coming out of nose, i was laughing so hard! must've laughed through the entire dinner! i'm so glad i'm rid of the IDIOT!

when i was a kid my grandparents used to take me to asbury park (home of bruce springsteen ... it used to have boardwalk amusements like a smaller version of seaside heights or wildwood ... now it's just crackhouses and such ... so sad!). anyway, i always thought asbury park was "raspberry park" which i suppose is really cute coming from a kid, but no one in my family ever let me live it down!

technically, i post on BDW all day and get paid for it, LOL! you ladies seem to have impressive and important careers ... how do you squeeze in your internet time? i am a graphic designer for a small publishing firm. i design book covers, and am responsible for a monthly periodical. sounds exciting and interesting until you hear that 99% of what we publish is "information technology" related. for about 9 years here i was responsible for computers in libraries magazine ... can you get duller than computers ... IN LIBRARIES?! LOL!

I should have been supporting all of you. I've was soo absorbed with my resort being closed that I just couldn't do anything but focus on that! Honestly, that's all I did. I kept track of the DT closure thread, smoked ciggarettes and drank wine. I did loose weight but it wasn't the good kind of weight loss. I hardly ate anything except for peanut m&m's, cheese cake & salt n' vinegar chips. Amazingly, they announced on Wednesday that they are reopening the resort and the first thing I did was go to the gym! What a relief. but how odd that I just couldn't seem to do anything except things that weren't good for me?!?!? Oh well, I just wanted to send you all good thoughts and good vibes for this week. Only two more weeks ladies. please don't apologize! i can't imagine many of us would have behaved differently during that positively AWFUL situation! how stressful! i am so happy for you girls that they've reopened. honestly i don't know how i would have handled it if it happened to me ... i can guarantee not well!

dress is in, and i hate it :-(
cougs replied to prairiegirl's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
i agree with bachatabride ... we NEED to see it on you! maybe it's only so unflattering because it's too big? i know i looked best (thinnest) in the dresses that i practically had to remove a rib to fit into, LOL! when they were way too big they just looked unflattering and dumpy. if you show us a pic with you wearing it, perhaps we could suggest changes or even other styles that would be more flattering to your body type. seems like plenty of girls tried this style and were disappointed, so they could probably tell you what styles they tried that looked better. YOU need to feel beautiful in the dress! -
i'm still pissed off about this on your behalf. people are so annoying, that i don't know how we all managed to find ones that were decent enough to marry, LOL! imo, they should have stuck to the triple and just worked out a "sock on the doorknob" system or something to signify the couple's "alone time." too late now, i guess. let us know what eric says! i hope he still goes! if you get your photos on disc, i'm sure some BDW brides (myself included!) who are handy with photoshop will be willing to help you make at least a few of them look really spectacular and not charge you a cent!

I should be giving gifts to the not-invited?!
cougs replied to bakerisacat's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
first of all, call me a selfish brat, but YOU are the one who should be receiving gifts for your wedding! these people are insane! like the other girls have said, a wedding announcement with a photo is appropriate, and if you decide you're definitely doing an AHR, a wedding favor would suffice. it would be lovely if it were something that reflected your destination ... just an idea! i would be insulted if i got some stupid personalized candle in the mail but no invite! especially since i think wedding favors in general are usually a waste ... no one keeps them unless they are something practical! -
