when to give out fans?
cougs replied to DarcyJAde's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
i would make them available AT the ceremony, not in the OOT bags. however, i'm setting mine out (one at each table setting) at the reception. it's really windy at our ceremony spot so they'll be unnecessary there, but i know people get hot & sweaty when they're dancing! i don't care if they are girly, either. it will make the table look nice, LOL. if the men aren't secure enough in their sexuality to fan themselves, then they can just sweat for all i care! Philly/South Jerz Get-Together, April *POLL ADDED*
cougs replied to cougs's topic in BDW Get Togethers
KOP is pretty far for me. didn't realize our PA girls were coming from way out there ... i always just assume they are right over the bridge! sorry about that! i think somewhere closer to the bridge in philly would be more central for everyone. if KOP is closest for some of you, then i wouldn't want you girls to have to come all the way to jersey either. i'm afraid we're going to get something planned and then none of us will be able to show up because we have pre-wedding stuff going on ... i know my shower is within the next two weekends! -
definitely the orange! if your colors are pink and orange, maybe you can just change the ribbon to pink ribbon on his bout. i think it's pretty cool that he's wearing a pink suit. why shouldn't he have something unique? we brides are so intent on getting exactly what we want for our weddings that we tend not to give our guys much say in the process. if he can rock a pink suit and look hot in it, i say he should go for it!

where i'm from, showers are always surprise parties (or at least are supposed to be surprises!) ... so the bride wouldn't ever come prepared with stuff for the hostesses, and certainly not be responsible for favors or anything like that! just as others have already said, just be sure to send thank yous to everyone who attended, planned, hosted, or gave gifts!

Hotel gift cards as OOT gift?
cougs replied to Paula0509's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
i know i would like it if i was going to a hotel that wasn't all-inclusive! -
Bridal Lingerie Shower Gift-Help!
cougs replied to WendyG's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
i think it's a really cute idea, and will make your gift stand out from all the other true lingerie gifts. you'll definitely get props for your creativity! besides, i'm not one to really like other people picking out my lingerie, so i'd be thankful to get something like that after opening weird crotchless panties from my grandmother, ya know? LOL -
Thank you notes?
cougs replied to Cattie's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
yes, definitely agree with kat! grab a blank card and write something personal ... these are people who are very important in your life, which is why they are getting these gifts in the first place! let them know what they mean to you! side note, where did you get your hankies? my mom's a crier ... she could probably use one, LOL. -

i would think center city would be a pain for people ... the parking ... ugh ... i think also friday happy hours could be hard with traffic depending on where everyone is coming from exactly. just for me personally, a weekend lunch would be easier than an evening during the week, because i work late hours. maybe a bar/restaurant on south street or delaware ave. might be easier? don't leave it up to me, 'cause i'll have you guys all coming to NJ, LOL! from this thread, it looks like we'd have 6 people interested (if i include myself) ... and i know there are more philly-area people on here ... phillybride09 daniellenderek -

LOL ok, obviously i'm going to get a hair cut and shave and all LOL, but i'm trying to keep the expenditures to a minimum. i mean, i really don't need to do pro tooth-whitening, botox, facials, or anything like that.

LMAO!

Rafia fans or program fans??
cougs replied to Gail's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
i'm doing raffia fans for two reasons: 1) it's SO windy where my ceremony is going to be that fans are totally unnecessary there. if i can get program info together, i will do a program, but it won't be a fan. 2) i'm using the raffia fans for the reception, where it's far less windy and people will be getting all hot and sweaty from dancing. i do agree with the other girls that paper fans or folding fans will be lighter and easier to pack tho! -

major facebook family drama today ... tom's half-sister who told us she wasn't coming (because of money) posted about her family's 10-day trip to Disney the SAME WEEK as our wedding. her father saw it and got PISSED OFF and commented on her page ... and major back-and-forth family drama ensued ... but the funny thing is that now her husband has now deleted us all from his friends list ... what is this? grade school? LOL

my confession is that i'm 36 and still waiting for my "biological clock" to even start ticking at all! i just have never looked at a baby and thought "ooooh i want one!" i don't know if it's just that i'm never around children (i in fact have never changed a diaper, never fed a baby, and can probably count on both hands the number of times i've even held one)? i feel like something's wrong with me.

i had a small gain, no biggie since i have my period ... but even tho i took a pic and remembered to bring my camera with me to work, i forgot i had taken the cords (that connect my camera to the computer) home last week. duh. i'll have to see if i remember to send it tonight (i'm going out after work). seems like every time i gain i somehow forget my pic LOL. i guess subconsciously i don't want anyone to see it? LOL

i'm not going to spend a lot because if we had the money we would have just done the whole thing at home in the first place. we keep stressing to people that it's just a CASUAL party, a celebration to include those who couldn't come, and NOT a "wedding reception." i'm sure we will still hear crap from some family like, "well if you were going to do all this anyway, why didn't you just do it all here?" besides, the price for halls/catering, etc. also seems to double or even triple if the word "wedding" is involved. i will call it an anniversary party if i have to, but i am not getting price-gouged over semantics!
-
who is going to be doing the cooking? if you're talking about it being catered then i think you need to at least double that budget or cut your guest list in half. we are looking at around the same number of people and don't want to spend more than 2 or 3 grand ... and so far, it's not looking good.

just wanted to share the current price list for excursions through dreams, attached. (seems like you can get almost all of these cheaper through other companies!) also, the dreams delphinus dolphin experience went up $10 ... it's now $159. i have the spa prices too, but uploading the attachment for that keeps failing. i am so glad to hear that USairways was good about your dress ... i've only heard the opposite about them so far and was getting a little nervous about it. i guess it just depends on which flight attendants you end up with! sorry it turned out so windy on your day ... you can actually see sanford catch you from blowing right over! crazy! i had been wondering why you didn't use the red carpet too, considering your color was red (so is mine). you didn't ever eat breakfast in the tower?
