mfry, i honestly don't see too much of a difference ... they are a little puffier in pic #2, but it could be the angle of the pic making it look more so. we are all our own worst critic! you have such large pretty eyes ... mine when i smile almost disappear. is there anything you can take or apply that reduces the puffiness? (i'm assuming you would know and have it in stock if that were the case, since you have this condition). and don't forget, photos can be retouched! and if it's one of those things that flares up more with stress then i don't know what to say ... i'm paranoid i'll end up with a giant fever blister or something because i tend to get them when i'm overly stressed out ... try to relax? LOL i should practice what i preach! and don't bother practicing your wedding-day-photo smiles ... you'll be full of them, naturally!!!!!!! nothing is more beautiful than a smile that's GENUINE!

Don't let the Bra thingy make your back look worse!! :-) aww i'm so glad your mom understands and wants to go with you again. and definitely look at all the dresses on the website and pick ones you must try on. as for back fat ... even tho i didn't buy my dress from david's, i did buy that bra because it was the most comfortable for the support i wanted. unfortunately, i don't think my back fat is just the bra LOL even tho i'd love to blame it on the bra, hahahaha! maybe i should still try the dress without it? i'm old and saggy LOL i need support! i don't know about just having sewn-in cups ... honestly tho right now it looks like i have boobs on my back too, cleavage and all. yuck!

ditto on what others have said about the nj italian weddings. doesn't matter what time of day it is, it will be dressy. for italians, wearing all black to a wedding isn't the no-no it is in other cultures or other parts of the country (in fact, it's almost the uniform, lol). wearing any shade of white/cream/off-white however will probably get stares and whispers. you don't need to wear a dress if you are uncomfortable with it--dress pants with a dressy blouse and the right heels/jewelry can be enough. edited to point out to the jersey girls that there's a BDW meetup this weekend in south philly! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t36815

You can find this with a "karaoke" boombox, but normally there is no pre-amp, just a line in which will not work with a microphone. so is there some sort of adapter that can be bought to make this work?

it's very pretty, but if it doesn't give you the "i'm the bride" feeling, it's not the one. i think it would look lovely with a veil, but then what if it's crazy windy that day at dreams, and you end up unable to wear your veil? would you feel like the dress alone was enough? i think i tried that one on too (or at least a million in that style) and i always felt like i was wearing a nightgown. it was almost *too* comfortable, if that makes sense? if you can exchange it then definitely go try on a bunch of others! and try on veils, hair flowers, heels, tiaras ... anything that might make you feel more like a bride! yay! exciting!

Seating arrangements- What are YOU doing?
cougs replied to saltocoach's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
i was originally planning on one long table, but now we're up to 33 people, so we're having a sweetheart table and several round tables. we are letting our wedding party sit with their dates rather than all together. oh and we're putting the 4 kids at their own kids' table ... time will tell whether that's a brilliant or absolutely awful idea, lol. -

Tire Tread Ring!!
cougs replied to lil_miss_frogg's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
i think he should have a wedding band he loves. after all, you want him to *want* to wear it all the time, right? who cares what anyone else thinks? for instance my FI bought both our wedding bands off ebay for a grand total of $60. they are just cheap sterling silver rings, so i'm sure someone will have something negative to say about it. i don't care, because i love that he picked them out (they are matching and are engraved with "mo anam cara" which means "my soul mate" in irish gaelic ... he considers me his "soul mate?" awww *swoon*). although i have to add that i really like the one you proposed with. -

it's so sad ... i'm just glad he got to see the phils win another world series (and call the game!) before he died. and the man did what he loved up to the very end ... smoked and drank and called baseball games. you can't beat that. we will have to raise a glass to harry at chickie's and pete's on saturday. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t36815 -

my confession: i'm not sure i ever *loved* my dress. it's very beautiful but it's all three of the things i absolutely positively "didn't want": satin, strapless, and low in the back. i still feel a little like i got talked into it by all the tearful "that's the one!"s i got from everyone else. now i'm going to sweat to death and all my back fat is going to be hanging out, lol. it is traditional and pretty, and i had to admit i felt like a *bride* in it (when i tried the more flowy, beachy things i felt like i was in a nightgown, lol). at this point it would probably be hard or impossible for you to squeeze in a second dress (if they won't let you exchange it), wouldn't it? if so, that sucks. have we seen a pic of it? maybe you could still add a veil or more traditional bridely jewelry or shoes to make it feel more special to you? can you add a crinoline to make it poof a little? add a detachable train?

Ugh I wish everyone just stays at Dreams!!! it's $55 per person, but i can almost guarantee it will go up before your 2010 wedding, LOL, so you might not want to put it in invitations. maybe put it on a wedding website if you'll have one, that way it's updatable!

best: as messed up as it is (crooked teeth and all), i'd have to say my smile. somewhere along the line, i learned how to smile somewhat naturally in pics, and ever since, people always tell me how photogenic i am (when i'm not smiling i look like grumpy and frumpy tho). worst: normally i'd say "everything from the waist down" (i'm disproportionately several sizes larger on the bottom half than the top), but i just had my first fitting and realized that i have *really* gross back fat! i swear, if you drew nipples on my back you'd think i had boobs back there, lol! so it's fresh in my mind right now. i only have a month til the wedding, so i guess i need to either get over it, or get a very opaque veil, lol!

had my bridal shower on april 5th, and just got a few pics from my MOHs ... thought i'd share! the invite made by my MOH: the cake designed by my other MOH with a pic of a mexican she got off the internet ... bubble says, "HOLY guacamole! Lisa's getting married!!!" i cracked up when i saw it: and if you can find me under the obligatory "bow hat" (in this case a sombrero), you'll see they also dressed me in chili pepper sunglasses and a chili pepper necklace ... absolutely ridiculous, but fun! i was a good sport, LOL (that's my future lil' bro who came to help me get the gifts home ... thank god he came; everyone was beyond generous!): i really can't wait for mexico now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

haha "cancun is one big tanning bed" LOL ... i have to agree! i thought you were wondering if there was somewhere to get spray tanned in case you ended up getting some unsightly tan lines while in cancun. in that case, personally i'd rather have the tan lines than risk some mexican tanning salon painting me orange, LOL!

haha i'm with yamille on this ... i think i'd be even MORE self-conscious in front of a friend! but then again, i don't think i'll ever have the body or the courage to do BD. i'm always so envious of you girls who have both! AND you look great without blowing your budget! your eye makeup looks awesome. now i wanna go to mac!
