Ivory dress = ivory shoes????
cougs replied to meli122's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
i agree with jacilynda! i originally wanted to *really* go for the pop of color with not only shoes, but also a colored crinoline! i LOVE the look, but i ended up with a really heavy satin dress and i can't imagine adding anything else to it that might make me sweat more, lol. if it sounds like something you'd be interested in, search for pics of it. really, it looks *so* cool. i've seen plenty of pink ones, and lots of brides choose blue crinolines as their "something blue." -
ok i regret to have to post this, but here are the marriage requirements as posted on the secrets maroma beach riviera cancun website: Legal Requirements For A Wedding In Puerto Morelos, Mexico The bride and groom must be in Mexico three working days prior to the wedding ceremony (Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays do not count). If bringing witnesses they MUST BE IN MEXICO 3 DAYS PIOR TO THE CEREMONY. Passports from bride, groom and witnesses if joining the couple and foreign. Please send us a copy by fax at least one month in advance. Legal form filled out with information previously sent by guests must be checked and signed. This information goes on the Marriage Certificate. Signatures from bride, groom and witnesses are mandatory. The wedding coordinator will send you these forms, please send back this information one month in advance. Documents will be signed upon arrival to the hotel and in the meeting with the wedding coordinator. Blood test should occur in Mexico. Upon arrival, a blood test can be done if the doctor is available, if not, an appointment must be made. The cost is $200.00 USD, which is paid in cash to the doctor. Birth certificate that is Apostilled (validated by a Notary Public in US) and translated into Spanish (in Mexico). All of this can be taken care of at the office where these certificates are issued (Public Register Office). Please be advised that if you do not have this document you will not be able to get married. There is an additional $50.00 USD per page that needs to be translated into Spanish and must be done in Mexico by a certified attorney. Please bring your originals or send us a copy of the birth certificate & the Apostilled by fax at least one month in advance. If the bride or groom has been divorced, a copy of the Divorce Decree and the Apostilled (validation) is required. These documents must be translated into Spanish in Mexico by a certified attorney. An additional charge will apply. The Divorce Decree and the Apostilled must be received at least one month in advance. FMT Tourist card: will be provided by Customs at the airport upon arrival. This process will take approximately one to three months. The extra charge for this process is $100.00 USD. i hate to say this, but it's my understanding that you DO need them, as well as an apostille document on each, tourist cards from the airport, and 4 business days in mexico (and i am getting married at dreams cancun, which is owned by the same company, amresorts). the only way i'd think you were maybe ok is if you had sent the wedding coordinator copies of your documents beforehand? i would verify with the WC that you have everything you need for the legal ceremony, and if not, skip the blood tests (if you haven't already had them) and just have a symbolic ceremony (honeslty, no one but you will know the difference ... you still get a "certificate") and then do the legal thing back home. it will save you all the costs associated with the legal ceremony (document translations, blood tests, etc.). it may not be what you were hoping for (i understand completely because i'm doing the legal ceremony in mexico myself), but you will still have just as beautiful a wedding, in paradise, with the man you love. and i'm sure that to you both, the day will hold no less meaning. wishing you the best on this ... i sincerely hope i'm incorrect and that all goes as planned!

"Twilight" Series and Movie Discussion--WARNING! Spoilers!
cougs replied to lovefreddy's topic in Random Thoughts
i didn't read the books but i thought the movie was pretty awful (that may be *because* i haven't read the books). i know that generally the novel is always far better than the movie. i can only hope this holds true for the twilight series, because if the books aren't better i need new friends, lol. they all are SO into the books. -
I had my shower on Sunday
cougs replied to MsShelley's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
yay! love the traditional bow hat ... it's like a rite of passage for brides. and isn't amazing how generous everyone is? i was blown away! glad you had a wonderful shower. love the hand-crafted box, but i have to ask ... did you tell his stepfather he was creating a box to hold an album of naughty pics? -
Ivory dress = ivory shoes????
cougs replied to meli122's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
ivory is so close to white that not only does it go with everything, but you'd never know it was ivory unless it was up against something white, especially in bright sun. the pink shoes will look absolutely fine (i have an ivory dress too, and my shoes are dark red). -
unfortunately it's all a matter of reading all the fine print on every piece of paper or website that you provide your name/address/phone number or any personal information to. in more cases than not, you need to specifically opt OUT of these things, by unchecking (pre-checked) boxes on forms, etc. the do not call list only saves you from random telemarketers, not ones who have received your information with your "permission" (no matter what sneaky tactics they used to get it).

finds at Target
cougs replied to 1sunshine's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
just a heads up, the disposable cameras are great (especially for a buck!) but they are only about 12 or 15 exposures each and do not have a flash. the "no flash thing" was a deal-breaker for me, because i wanted the cameras to place on the tables at my reception, which will be at night and likely not well-lit. -

china made items?
cougs replied to Soon To Be Mrs. Gomez's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
i can't imagine how they'd know the items were made in china? you said you heard this from your mail lady ... MAIL to mexico is an entirely different story (i've been told not to even bother trying to mail anything because it will never get there). if you are packing this stuff in luggage i don't see how they could confiscate it. seriously, are chinese PEOPLE not allowed to travel to mexico? most of what they own would be made in china! -
yeah just wanted to say there is absolutely nothing wrong with using a free trip gained from multiple bookings for yourselves. you are bringing in the business, and there are usually incentives for doing so. no one should feel badly about benefiting in this way. however, forcing each guest to pay a little extra (that will go toward a free trip), especially without their knowledge, is just shady and tacky.

OMG yamille, i just love them so much! i kept thinking, "ok i'll tell her this one is my favorite," but then a few pics later i had another "favorite" and another and another and another! haha and all i could think of is how you said he went nuts for the way your hair looked that day, LOL! wait till he gets a look at the pics! whoever said you had that "come hither" look down is absolutely right ... you had better start practicing your "get off me, perv" look because your man isn't going to be able to leave you alone! LOL! hot hot hot!

I can't believe this. Can they just take back what they have already offerred? This is so stupid! It's an all inclusive resort. I don't understand what the big deal is when food is free there anyway. I'll be bringing alot of business to them as I'd plan to have 45-50 guests and they will be all staying at the resort. And yet, they nickel and dime me. I might as well go with the free wedding package. i'd be really frustrated too, but honestly i don't think you can hold them to any negotiations or offers until you are under contract. i'm still annoyed at how much the extra guests cost when it's all-inclusive, but i'm getting over it. it's really the private setup and service you are paying for, but yeah still annoying.

Although my mom did make a good point...if people don't like dinner, they can grab something after since it's all inclusive:) yeah i forgot the beach receptions were different on this (most likely due to them not wanting to schlep individual dinners out to the location ... they can set up the buffet and be done with it). i agree, only offering one option for dinner is ridiculous. we have people with allergies, vegetarians, kids, and just plain picky people ... they had better let us do a buffet! even with the buffet, it will be hard to appease my crowd, since almost every option has seafood or citrus in it (we have people allergic to both). claudia said they can accommodate vegetarians, yet there is no vegetarian option on the menu. what a pain.
