  2. just wanted to share what i'm using for my "guest book" ... i rounded up a bunch of generic photos of cancun and of the resort and made an 8x8 photo book on shutterfly. the guests can sign in the margins around the pics, sort of like how you'd sign someone's school yearbook. i figure i only have around 30 people, so they don't need a lot of room to sign. i mostly wanted to do this to check out the quality of shutterfly's books for when i do my wedding album and gift albums for parents, etc. i think it cost about $25. haven't received it yet. anyway, here it is (let me know if this doesn't work): http://share.shutterfly.com/share/re...0IZtWzhy5asnIA if anyone wants this for themselves, i'd be happy to share and then you could just change the cover and title page to suit your wedding and be done with it, lol!

I know these things shouldnt bother me so much but im feeling like nothing can just fall into place and there is always something to worry about!! ARG.. dont get me wrong im really looking forward to going and having an amazing time.. but things seem to be harder than they should be! sorry you are having so many complications ... mine aren't quite as serious as yours but it seems every time i think i have something done, it's undone. i know i've posted it before, like BM jewelry, the groomsmen's shirts, the flower girl dress, the OOT bags, my apostille doc and certified BC ... the latest "undone" thing now is my veil. i ordered one online, and although the description said "very pretty crystal beading and embroidery," the actual veil has PEARLS, not crystals! ugh ... no pearls on my dress at all, i was just gonna suck it up, but looking last night it just doesn't go ... so back to square one on the veil too now. at least my pudgy flower girl has gotten her new, bigger dress.

FI *should* go for it ... and he did!

  8. ok i have never kept any kind of receipts whatsoever. i can't imagine that this is an actual issue, because wouldn't we have heard tons of horror stories on this forum where all of a bride's wedding decor or oot bags got confiscated? seriously, i'm just not going to worry about it. i can't or i'll die.
  9. you will definitely want all your images on disc in high-resolution (and what that means to you, is a fine enough resolution to make large prints--8x10 or 11x14--and still have them be crisp without any loss of quality). for instance stuff meant for screen only can be 72 dpi (dots per inch) while stuff meant for print should be at least 300 dpi at print size. you will also want all rights to every image, meaning you can make as many prints as you want and post the images online anywhere you want. if you don't want the photogs to use the images in their portfolios, displayed in a studio, or used on a website, you will need to specify that. most companies will want to reserve the right to use your images as examples of their work. unless you're very private or have some risque pics (BD or some TTD) that you just don't want "out there," it's probably not an issue. and there should definitely be some wording describing the types of situations where a partial or full refund would be warranted/expected, i.e. total no-shows.
  10. not silly at all to be happy about that! it makes it all seem so much more real, even if you already knew they were coming! and sending it on time, filled out properly, is nothing to be taken lightly. i have more than a few people who just never sent back their rsvp cards because they "assume we know" they aren't coming. seriously, i worked hard on that crap (DIY) and come on, there's a stamp on it ... all you have to do is check a box and drop it in the mail! so aggravating! may you get all "yes" responses! and cherish the moments that make you happy, no matter how trivial or silly they may seem ... your wedding is fast approaching and soon these will all be memories ...
  11. thanks ladies! and LMAO at the boobie request, tracy! if you'd like you are more than welcome to have the boob-looking lumps of fat that are growing out of my back ... they are much better suited for filling out someone's front! LOL as for jewelry, i will actually be wearing the necklace i have on in the pic ... it's my "something old" and it's a marcasite necklace i used to steal from my mother ALL THE TIME. i don't think it's perfect looking with the dress, but it's "me." i just need to work on earrings and maybe a bracelet. i have mon-wed off next week, so i'm hoping i can get a ton accomplished. i have a doctor's appt, a day at the state offices trying to get a certified copy of my birth certificate and an apostille (in person, so it's hopefully quick and easy), and all my BMs' and mom's final fitting. other than that it's DIY city, and i'm the mayor.

She wants me to put together a "friend shower" for her and also come to both of the other 2 showers!! I like that 3 of my friends are all engaged and we are all SUCH different brides. Its good to be able to vent and know other brides in this forum are also standing up for people with some crazy needs! Thanks for sharing your story...just had to let you know I can relate wow that's a whole lotta weddings for one year!!! i am SO glad i'm finally to the age where most of my friends have been married already (unfortunately, they are all divorced too, lol). you're right about how brides are all so different in what they think are "must-haves" and "must-dos!" if a friend of mine said she wanted 3 showers i would ask her how it feels to want, lol. that said, i ended up with 3: one co-ed thrown by friends, one all-women thrown by family/bridal party, and i have a work shower coming up next week, lol (no one but me attended more than one tho ... it's unreal to expect people to come to more than one!). i didn't even think i should have *any* shower, with how much the wedding is costing people, and i ended up with 3! i couldn't imagine whining about WANTING all those parties. how greedy. and she is marrying into his family ... why can't both sides be at the same shower? (unless they are from totally different areas and it's just not feasible)
  13. thanks, i'm hoping my "plan" actually works, lol! really, 3 specialty dances should take only about 10-15 minutes. for all i care they can start bringing out the first course during the dance, as long as they are unobtrusive. people can eat salad while they watch, lol! (and really, is there anything more boring than watching a couple do the slow-dance sway, lol? we are not "dancers" by any means, so nothing exciting coming from us!) oh i forgot we'll need to squeeze in the best man's speech then too. i just wish we had a mic for the announcements/speeches ... my MOH will just have to speak up!
  14. check out the "show us your shoes" thread ... almost everyone's shoes are color! LOL

Additionally, we went over to his brothers house last night for dinner. UGGHHHHHH. I can't seem to get rid of them. His mom and sister are super snooty shopaholics and his brother seems to always have some type of insult to throw at me. After almost ten years, I am fed up with them. Glad to get that off my chest unfortunately, if they are the kind of family that always does everything together, that is just not gonna change. my FIs family is like that, and sometimes i'm so happy to be a part of such a large, close-knit family, and others i'm like can't you all just leave us be? LOL. insults from his family, however, are unacceptable and your FI needs to tell them as much. if he loves you, he won't stand for it.

LOL
  19. thanks for checking in with us, we've all been thinking of you! so glad to hear the channels of communication have been opened ... that is the first (and most important) step toward mending the relationship. and taking some time is a wise decision as well. congrats and best of luck. if you can manage to keep communicating your feelings and both exhibiting respect for each other, i sense we'll be seeing happy wedding pics from you in the not-so-far away future!

  21. wow jacilynda it looks stunning ... i can't believe you look that great in a dress you couldn't even zip just about a month or so ago?!?! your hard work has totally paid off!!!!!!! had my 2nd fitting tonight ... here's the dress! (not my veil, but i want one like it). please ignore the totally gross back fat (that's what i plan on doing, lol):
  22. i know this isn't the proper place to post this, but here's the dress! i am excited how it looks now that it fits, lol. now it just gets steamed and i pick it up on wednesday! also, i don't have a veil yet, but want one like this. (i actually bought a veil online and it was nothing like its description ... i hate it so looks like i'll be getting a new one):

I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU that you can have your civil ceremony as planned!!! i have to say tho that i'm REALLY confused because the info i had gotten was off your resort's website! now i'm wondering whether i really actually need this stuff at my resort, or it's all just bull? in NJ, the stupid apostille is costing me $25 plus another $25 for a certified copy of my birth certificate (the only one they will do the apostille for--original bc isn't good enough apparently). so yet another $50 for something i don't really actually need? i'd rather go get waxed for that money, LOL. have a beautiful, amazing, LEGAL wedding!!!!!!!
