nyssa that's amazing!!! i am so happy for you ... especially in this economy, for people to just drop hundreds of extra dollars to be there for you is a true testament of how much you and FI are loved!!! you must be thrilled! dreams has offered switch to dominican republic too (as has moon palace), but their resorts are packed and wedding dates pretty booked up ... flights are pretty outrageously priced too, so i have a feeling i'd lose a LOT of guests. i'm just crossing my fingers that we won't actually need to look into punta cana any further.

your flight for JUNE TWENTIETH was cancelled?!?! wtf? ugh i feel so bad, and so fortunate this hasn't happened to me ... yet? i too was looking into punta cana as a backup, but when i checked for flights, not only was not much available, but prices were OUTRAGEOUS! what in the world is going on, and why does this all have to be so difficult? my heart goes out to you ... thankfully you have at least *a little* time to get things straightened out. *crosses fingers for you* what a mess!

i have to say, my FMIL has been SO supportive and has the most amazing attitude through all this ... she updated her facebook status with this on the day that marked the one month countdown (in the midst of all the swine flu hoopla): "Getting excited about seeing my son get married next month!" and in response to comments: "May 28th. Everyone is getting worried about swine flu. The doctor I work for is not concerned at all!" "Yes, we are staying at Dreams Cancun. The whole family will take a picture with blue masks on!" gotta love her! i really am so blessed.

so on a happy note, my work TOTALLY surprised me with a shower today! i had been off mon-wed, and actually *thought* my shower was going to be tomorrow ... i was totally oblivious and they got me! so i got an ENTIRE SET of new luggage, plus $100 in a visa gift card, and a few other assorted lovely gifts ... i was SO surprised. and we had a million pizzas and a cupcake tower. my work-buddies rock. of course then we all HAD TO discuss the swine flu thing, which sucks, but the cupcakes kinda helped.

gotta love the lollipop ... VERY sassy!
