Morgan's Wedding Album
cougs replied to rodent's topic in Post your Destination Wedding & Engagement Pictures!
LOL morgan! i had a feeling the lack of kissypic wouldn't have been an oversight. i agree that even if you don't like the way you look in the pic, it IS really cute that he looks so eager. i loved your TTD pics ... can't wait to see that album when you get around to it! -
i am so annoyed at employers telling guests they can't return to work for a week upon their return from mexico. i'm fairly certain that forcing an employee to take a week off unpaid has got to be illegal, but i can't seem to find anything to verify either way. any labor lawyers out there? the really ridiculous thing is one groomsman who was told this works in NYC--where there are FAR more cases (hundreds?) than there are in cancun (zero) at this point! thankfully, he won't lose out on pay because they are allowing him to work from home that week, but unfortunately FI's aunt is going to have to cancel because her mandatory week off will be unpaid. ugh.

TV Show "Say Yes To The Dress Wedding Dress"
cougs replied to SgtPepperette's topic in Celebrity Gossip!
actually i just watched "bride wars" and the dress that was supposed to be her mom's wedding dress was gorgeous too. i always love the mermaid or trumpet style dresses, but unfortunately there was a never a time in my life when either would have looked good on me! -

Morgan's Wedding Album
cougs replied to rodent's topic in Post your Destination Wedding & Engagement Pictures!
the layout is really gorgeous ... but i already told you that on facebook! my only comment would be to use the same size type on both pages of a spread (the one with your vows ... btw, i love that you included them). oh, and WHERE'S THE (you may kiss the bride) KISS?!?!?! -
Are you having a flower girl?
cougs replied to DarcyJAde's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
i think that if you don't have a ring bearer, no one will notice whether you have a flower girl, but if you DO have a ring bearer, FI's sister might actually get offended if you don't ask for her daughter to be in the wedding, since she's the *only* little girl. it might come off like you are purposely excluding her, KWIM? you certainly don't NEED one. but if you WANT one, you should have one. and don't take what i said above to mean you have to have both, either. it's perfectly acceptable to have only one or the other. whatever you and FI want ... it's YOUR wedding! -
US airways has now extended their policy of waiving any change fees to include mexico travel up through 5/31: Travel Center the large majority of my guests (and us included) have booked our flights through them, so this is a load off my back. still not ideal (and i don't want to reschedule elsewhere), but good to know that at least on the flight end, it might be possible to go to plan B without added costs to our guests. haha "plan B" ... as if i have one!

My mom has a friend that works for the CDC here in Atlanta and this guy said that my wedding in not an "essential" reason to travel to Mexico. WTF i'm so very sorry. what does your FI think? does he still want to go through with the wedding there? he is truly the one who matters most. i am glad your parents will still come ... does FI have any family at all coming? and please know that just because people have canceled, it doesn't mean they don't love you both. some people just scare easily, others have medical reasons, and still others will be kept out of work that they can't afford to miss. honestly if they are scared enough to cancel their own trip, they probably love you enough to *wish* you'd cancel yours to be safe. i know it is very hard not to be hurt and you must be so devastated.

A "Probable" case of Swine Flu in my city!!!
cougs replied to August2010Bride's topic in Just venting or funnies
it's probably nothing ... seems like everyone with a cold lately is "suspected swine flu" ... there have been suspected cases in philadelphia too but none confirmed as far as i know. working in hospitals, i'm sure it's hard not to be extra concerned, but in your line of work you are already well-schooled in how to avoid contagions. keep your immune system strong, take precautions, and i'm sure you'll stay healthy! -

LOL

Ottawa citizen article re: canceled Mexican wedding
cougs replied to SunBride's topic in Honeymoon Forum
the comments on the article are hideous. people have got some nerve! comments like: "suck it up, buttercup" "their bad, they should have had trip insurance" "at least you have your health, unlike those poor people in mexico" "shame on you for spending beyond your means" "you're just bent on staying at a 5-star resort when you've been given other options" just go somewhere else, just go to the justice of the peace, who cares, get married later, blah blah blah! ?!?!?!?! wtf?!?!!?! no one said they spent beyond their means ... they just didn't want to be robbed of their money and denied refunds! if i was a millionaire, i'd still be pissed off about my wedding getting canceled and/or losing out on several thousand dollars of MY money! is it so hard to see that? not to mention the year or more of planning. i am so pissed at the comments!!!!!! this is their WEDDING and a huge FAMILY TRIP not just some rich brat's spring break! and even if it *was*, that rich spoiled brat would still have the right to be upset about losing money! UGH!!!!! -
i was just checking in to see how you all are doing so far ... this is the first time i didn't join since BL3 ... i'm thinking maybe i should have now! i've been eating like crazy with all the swine flu stress, but i guess the stress has revved up my metabolism or something because i haven't gained an ounce ... imagine if i was actually dieting and exercising! i didn't join because my wedding was smack in the middle, but i see other may brides on here and now i feel dumb. huge pot too! oh well. best of luck, losers!
-
that's amazing! *crosses fingers* ... they didn't have my date, and my TA seems to think moving everyone will be "impossible" anyway ... i think she just doesn't want to work very hard. to be perfectly honest, i have to admit i think the dreams resorts in punta cana are actually "prettier" than the ones in cancun/riviera maya. so while it does suck beyond measure to move everything ... it could definitely be worse. best of luck!
-
haha wow everyone is getting it at once ... DEFINITELY spreading faster than the stupid flu itself! (look 3 people have it watch out it's a pandemic) thought it would be better to post it outside the flu threads. i know trying to keep some humor has been helping me through this, but i didn't want to risk offending anyone.

jenn, our friends' wedding was during the phillies' world series ... they had so many people cancel on their wedding last minute because they got tickets to the game! i thought ... oh man, ours is during stanley cup finals ...

Totally random: Welcoming a new baby donkey to the family...
cougs replied to BlissfulMsMiranda's topic in Random Thoughts
awww i love him! -
it just happened on my end too ... FI's aunt just got a memo at work that anyone traveling to mexico will be required to take off a full week without pay upon their return. (seems like it should be illegal for an employer to do that, but she works for a law firm so i'm guessing they're aware of their rights as employers) gee, guess that means i just lost another 3 guests, including my flower girl!
